Are you done stocking up?

Like right now I have an 18650 that only lasts about 4 hours, which is really super annoying,

Maybe you could use those batteries in mods that you only use for quick trips into town, or when working in the yard, etc. Lasting 4 hours shouldn't be an annoying problem then.

I rarely leave the house, and I am severely allergic to manual labor/yard work.:lol::lol:

I use it at my desk... I work 14 hour days, so I just switch to a different mod while it charges, and it charges pretty quickly, but still I end up charging it at least 3-4 times during that period of time.

I was mainly asking how long people hang on before tossing them to gauge how crazy I am... I think I will continue to use the crap batteries at my desk and once I get to 2 hrs I will toss them.

Lithium secondary (rechargeable) batteries, whether replaceable or built-in, can only be counted on for a couple of year life span. It's a chemistry thing. Even unused, and maintained at a reasonable storage voltage, there'll be a decrease in capacity after a year or so.

I know some folks talk about built-in battery mods working okay after 4 or 5 years, but I have faith in science. They may work, but they certainly have decreased battery performance.

Any mod I count on for multiple years out has replaceable batteries, and any replaceable batteries I pick up are fair game for immediate use, since they will drop in performance over time.
Although all my mods are mech squonkers with replaceable batteries, I think the issue of decreasing capacity with age (vs. cycles) is not as significant as many people believe. I tested some very lightly 5 year old VTC5s last year with a West Mountain Radio CBA and they were still right around 90%, and I'm still using them (lightly).

Back when Li-ion batteries were kinda new on the scene, call it 15 years ago, they had the reputation of losing 10% or more of capacity per year. I'm not sure whether it was true or not then, but it clearly isn't now, with current chemistry batteries.

Note also that all the EV and PHEV car makers are giving at least 8 year warranties on their batteries.

I have a lot longer experience with cell phone batteries than those in vape gear. The only thing I've learned from it though is that batteries are weird. Some last a lot longer than they are supposed to. And some last a lot less than they're supposed to.
Yeah, but cell-phone batteries are generally run a lot harder. Get an app that can show you your battery voltage and note that most phones charge their batteries to 4.35V or even higher. That's not treating a battery with kindness. One might even speculate that they don't want those batteries to last more than a couple of years...

I wouldn't try to run an aged (noticeably reduced run time) battery at near rated amps output, but if you run 10A on a 20A rated battery I doubt there's any issue other than annoyance at decreased run time.

If I think a battery is starting to age, I'll typically mark it with an L (low). If after several cycles I still see it as giving noticeably less run time I put it in a craft Ziploc, for recycling at Lowes.

Batteries are cheap, worth disposing when they've aged out.

That's why I don't worry much about older batteries. I don't even reach 3 amps being a tootle puffer.

What's the continuous amp draw of an average 18650 flashlight?
(I don't own one, sorry if that's a silly question).
I have no idea but I use the cheap 18650 flashlights and old 10a batteries give me hours of runtime.

I have 10 or so mods sitting on my desk, I use some of them a lot more than others because I like the juice in that tank. If I go out I take Solos. But batteries go in whichever mod needs a new one when they get to the front of the rack. It's really hard to know how long each battery lasts.

Generally I just replace flat tops after 2 years. Probably means I junk some batteries that still have life in them, but it keeps it simple and they don't cost much anyway.

Button tops go in Provaris and they have an easy life. They get cycled less often and used at lower power. I've got some that are 4 years old and they seem fine.

Wish I had a charger which measured something that would tell me when they were ready to retire. What do I need for that?

Re: Heartland Vapes - We still get the $10 off per Liter or gallon price...because that IS considered their wholesale quantity sizes. It doesn't mean we have to be a vendor to get that price.

If you'll go to the Liters of nic base on their website, you'll see that the URL says wholesale in it...because that's the section of their website.

Question/Poll...

When do most of you say enough is enough for your batteries? Like right now I have an 18650 that only lasts about 4 hours, which is really super annoying, but I am having trouble letting go because I want to get every last drop out of it. lol

@UncleJunkle touched on this in a previous post which I cannot find...

:thumb:

Yeah, that :)

I tootle, so amps aren't a critical as they are for those vaping at higher power. For me, when a cell no longer lasts for a tank (for me, generally a KF2L or a Skyline, both about 4 ml) it's time for recycling. Or flashlight ;)

honestly at this point I wonder if my last 2 FT impulse buys from early Jan will get to the US before the May cutoff date. I wouldn't order anything from China at all from now on. I don't think I would trust that it would arrive before the US Government could start seizing stuff at customs in May.

Even if this virus was miraculously gone tomorrow this is going to take weeks to months to ramp up productions and shipping on the backside.

If you are not stocked now you need to grab what you can from US sellers before they run out of everything and you need to do it in hurry. That is my best advice.
My Health Cabin order of 1/30 shipped 2/6 and was delivered today. Several people have placed and received 3FVAPE orders recently. I ordered last week and it’s shipped. We’ll see
