Speaking of Mt Baker Vapor, has anyone received a shipping notification from them yet. I placed my order on Saturday and haven't heard a word.
Mine came today. Have you checked your account there? After my order confirmation Monday I didn’t get any other emails.

My order arrived today, a day ahead of schedule. Notifications were not reliable, but I've never had a problem with them (6 orders).

Yeah, let us know about that charger, it looks nice. If it does what it says I would pick one up even though my nitecore works just fine... I threw out 2 old batteries last week that hadn't been used in forever and were basically dead, I wish I had hung on to them just to test it out.

18650batterystore.com is sold out, imrbatteries.com has them though. Do you know if there is a way to force it to charge using the lower amps?
Will do. It'll be a few days though.

Actually there is a safety issue with older batteries according to one of Mooch’s videos on Minding Your Mahs.

Damage can’t always be seen and time changes the stability in the chemicals inside these batteries.

@Mooch posts his videos on YouTube and I’ll try to find the episode but maybe he can chime in or link us to the video that covers the internal change and damage that occurs. It has something to dendrites which while I understood I would never be able to explain.
Mooch said (li-ion myths and facts):
As long as you aren't over-stressing your battery, replace it when the performance starts to p*ss you off.

(Consistent with what I suggested.)

The damage case is if a battery has somehow gone to under 2.5V. At that point it's time to recycle, don't bother messing with it.

Supposedly there is a 0v battery activation function. I don't have any batteries that low, but I have a few old dead ones that won't chargeI want to use for testing that function. It'll be a few days till I get to that however.

Sometimes the reason they won't charge or show any charge on a meter is because they vented and the safety switch (which is a diaphragm on the Efest batteries...when it happened to me) gets pushed out and renders the battery non-usable and non-rechargeable. The solution, if your as daring stupid as I used to be, is to poke that diaphragm back in (which takes more effort than it's worth and I believe can be dangerous).

The reason this happened to me is because some Yihi boards/chips have this issue where they slowly drain the battery even when the mod is not being used (there's a term for that which I forget). If you put those mods away with a battery in them (which is dumb, I admit) for a week or two, the battery drains to below stable voltage and then vents. That's when the diaphragm/safety switch is activated and renders the battery inoperable.

So it could be you won't be able to charge those batteries at all regardless of your charger's capabilities, unless you are willing to reset that safety switch, which I don't condone AT ALL. So if you can't get your new charger to "revive" those batts, don't necessarily blame the charger right away.

Useful information. The term is parasitic drain.

That's it! And even though it was ultimately my fault for leaving the batteries in my mods unused for extend periods, I 'll never trust Yihi again. It could have been a disastrous situation. I won't stop using what I have, but I know better now.

I really strongly urge people DON'T try that.

Did they use a small nail or other nice metallic object? (Go full Darwin Award [emoji3])

Yes, as did I. Not sharp exactly. However it has to be so thin that it really doesn't matter if it's blunt, it's still sharp at that size. It did work, twice, but I'll never do it again.

Well to begin with it wasn’t just one odd ball purchase! I bought 4 Sigelei Charons - different colors of course- they were about $12. Then I bought 2 IPV mods w a Yihi board. I think I paid $15 or $18 bucks for those.

I actually enjoy the Charon so much I’ve put one in my rotation instead of the stash. Unfortunately, I seem to be liking most of my “stash” so much I haven’t stashed them lol!!

Edit to my post: that’s a Sigelei Chronus NOT Charon. Can I blame autocorrect for this?

Maybe try a different browser? I have never had any issues with it.

Thanks for the suggestion . . .

    But . . .

I tried both chrome and FF. No go. I even tried in FF private browser. Also disabled all add-ons. no go. Clear cache? Nope, no go. Gotta give up at some point :)

    WHAT HE SAID ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^

    Re: Batteries
I just got a Hohmtech Hohmbase 4 bay battery charger I am using on some 18650 batteries. It has a battery doctor feature that is supposed to restore capacity. I'll know more three days from now, eight batteries to use it with. Lot of good reviews on this charger restoring batteries that people thought were unusable.

    YES - Please let "Us" know . . . AND - Where Ya' got yours also . . . ;)

My new charger, the Miboxer C412, has a mah reading on it. If you charge a battery from dead you'll know exactly how many mah it charged. Compare that to when you got it and it gives a pretty good idea of whether or not your battery is operating anywhere near new conditions. Most of my 3,000 mah batteries are only charging to about 2,000 mah or so. Time to swap them out with the new ones I have sitting in a box.

"You" too . . . Please let "Us" know whee Ya' got this one . . . ;)
