I don't know why I thought I "needed" another mod, but my Smoant Battlestar should be here in a week or two along with my wife's nautilus 2 tank.

I have heard a lot of good things about the Battlestar and the copper finish is super cool IMO. For $40 it looks like a solid 200w dual 18650 mod....

the battlestar has been on my short-list to order for a while but it got bumped down the list for the vaporcube g2 half off sale. where did you get your smoant from?

I favor one particular atomizer. i have a favorite drip tip too. There are a number of both in the stockpile. Day to day i try to use the same mod and atomizer to see how they wear. i noticed my drip tip was getting loose to the point where it might fall out and be lost. So, I replaced the orings and the drip tip is tight again. I bought a bag of 50 for $1,17 from FT some months ago and needed them sooner than expected.

Seriously, links like this are super useful. Thank you. Added to the wishlist and will make it into one of my future orders very soon. Can never have enough o-rings, screws and various other do-dads for backups.

I have been wondering about long term storage of o-rings. Have you ever come across a really old rubber band and how it falls apart? Is that going to happen 10-15 years down the road with o-rings?
O-rings are always going to be available from other sources, so no need to worry. If you are laready stocked up, looks like you can store them with your nic stash. Minimize the Aging and Deterioration of Your O-Ring and Rubber Seal Inventory to Preserve Your Investment

I read the info. on the linked page, and it's definitely good to know it. I know I never would've considered those things without reading it. But, my nic stash is in the deep freezer. It seems that most of the info. is very close to the recommendations for storing PG, VG, flavorings, and a working bottle of Nic base (in cool, dark place), or maybe in the fridge where some people keep those same things. However, the humidity info. ("as humidity rises in the storage environment, the rubber will slowly absorb water and impact dimensions of the seal and physical performance of the rubber") makes me think they'd need to be kept in glass containers if stored in the fridge. Those permeable ziplock baggies like most come in from the vendors shouldn't be used then for sure. Maybe I'm misreading/misinterpreting the info that's given though?

I have personally only gone thru about 6-8 total o-rings in the last almost year and a half. That's using 20-30 tanks and other assorted hardware.

I have bought various o-ring sizes for most of my gear in quantities of 25-100 of each. My thoughts are that I will never need that many and in 20+ years if they start to deteriorate, I wouldn't expect EVERY one to go bad at once. Plus there will always be o-rings - the key is knowing the sizes.

Lightning Vapes has a bunch of different replacement sets for cheap as well. I bought 20 or 25 sets of their KFL+ sets and they are great.

Yep! I bought a bunch there, too, but they don't contain the tiny o-ring for the fill screw. Gonna order some from the place in the blog linked above.

Good to know. Worst part is that I THINK I bought some o-ring for the BF fill screw, but I am not positive. I really need to inventory my stuff better!

I stock orings for several reasons. I have a size run of orings typically used in rda's. Sometimes i can improve the fit of a barrel on the deck by switching out the oring to a different size. Yes orings are generic but the convenient time to buy a dollar item is to include in an order with other stuff. Stockpiling is now part of the hobby for me. (There is a survivalist hobby that people use as an exuse to buy cool camping stuff they otherwise could never justify but vaping stuff is a tiny fraction of the cost.) I'm also trying to develop the habits that would be useful if access to products is interrupted. It seems doubtful i'll ever break a drip tip but it could get lost if the orings aren't tight. If I knew what sizes to get i'd buy some extras of the screws and knurled nuts used to trap the wires on my SV rda's. If the insulators go bad around the center pin I'd like to be able to replace them but I won't try to disassemble an rda until i have the problem.

For now I've decided to store stockpiled mods new in the box. If and when product restrictions become immenent I'll open the boxes and test the mods and decide whether to continue storing in the original packaging or move them to a custom acid free container. It's so weird buying products and immediately storing them away out of site.

I'm learning a lot from the Arctic Fox firmware running on a Pico, a Mega, and a VTC mini. I keep the setting so the mods fire exactly the same as before. I'm learning about how I vape from the extra readouts. After each puff in TC mode I can see the max temp and max watts reached for that puff. When the wick is saturated the device spikes to my 30 max watts but temperature stops 100 degrees below my 400 degree limit, yet that vape is warmer than a dryer coil that maxes at 400 degrees but only needs 5 watts to get there. Vaping on a reletively dry coil some of the time allows me to take a lot of puffs through the day but only use 4-5 ml of liquid. When i want a dense cloudy puff I just saturate the coil. there's something to be said for those "old fashioned" rda's when they're used with temp control. It took a while to figure out the Arctic fox features, patience advised.

Good article -- but our o rings are not rubber, nor made of whatever rubber bands are made of today. Those items can deteriorate fairly quickly in some environments.

Though I don't know all the materials used, especially in some of the imports, silicone is very durable and has a v e r y l o n g shelf life. The other one I've read about (bunka?) also has other properties that some say make it just as suitable, if not more.

I fully agree it make sense to have spare o-rings in our collections for various reasons, but worrying about how to store them is not of concern to me----except I strongly suggest labeling the storage bag for what device or use they are for.
