I had that happen once too. I think it was just over the $100 mark....maybe $101 or $102. AT that time I think they wanted ensured I didn't owe an import tax.

This one was a grand total of 20 Euros for springs and a lone 18350 steel tube. Plus the extra $40 I had to pay customs for "inspecting" the package.:grr:

Okay, I found the post I was thinking of, and I'll only paraphrase... If we are importing vaping products, we would have to be registered as a tobacco manufacturer by December 31st. So I don't understand how the FDA has a right or reason to start waylaying packages for inspection until then.

Ok that covers it, restricted products for import include tobacco products so no more FT orders, we are screwed!
I just hope that they aren't starting early. My two packages from FT were shipped from them on the 20th of July. They should arrive way before the law goes into effect. But they are still in China. grrrr:(

I don't get it either, but am quickly learning that when it comes to the FDA and these deeming regs. nothing makes sense.

kiss--keep your orders over $20 and under $100,, with mods you may want to always order a flashlight head,, your mod then becomes a power source for the flash light head.

atomizers........well,, more thoughts on that when I get a thought :)

at least in Texas,, its not illegal to own any of the items,, and since I am not importing a bunch of items.. I don't feel too much 'at risk'........that said, I will have to consider that I may lose items to the stealing vaping fda/cbp staff

Internet Purchases | U.S. Customs and Border Protection
Postal Service, Couriers and Freight

There are three ways goods can be sent to you from abroad. In order to avoid costly problems, you and the seller of your goods should agree on which will be used the international postal service, a courier service, or freight carriers.

  1. International Postal Service: Merchandise shipped through the international postal service is forwarded upon its arrival in the United States to one of U.S. Customs and Border Protection International Mail Branches for clearance. If the item is less than $2,000 in value and is not subject to a quota or is not a restricted or prohibited item, a CBP official will usually prepare the paperwork for importing it, assess the proper duty, and release it for delivery. This procedure is generally referred to as a mail entry. Packages whose declared value is under $200 ($100 if being sent as a gift to someone other than the purchaser) will generally be cleared without any additional paperwork prepared by CBP. However, CBP always reserves the right to require a formal entry for any importation and generally exercises this option if there is something unusual about the importation, or if important documents such as an invoice or bill of sale do not accompany the item.
If any duty is owed, CBP will charge a processing fee for clearing your package. Duty and the processing fee are usually paid at your local post office, where your package is forwarded.

Hint: To speed a package through CBP examination at a port's International Mail Branch, the seller should affix a completed CN 22 or CN 23 (U.S. Customs and Border Protection Declaration Form) to the outside of the package. This form may be obtained at local post offices worldwide.

Plus: Pretty economical.

This is already done by FT to save you on that tax.

Bear in mind, after August 8th, all vape related items will be considered a restricted item (tobacco).

Ok I just checked USPS and UPS, tobacco products except cigars, you need to be a licensed tobacco retailer to ship thru UPS and looks like same applies to USPS. Cigarettes denied by both shippers. I sure hope our stuff gets here in time.
So all these online vendors that we order from now will need a tobacco license. Wonder how many will.

a flashlight is not a tobacco product,, and in our house we have already established a history of buying flashlights online. again, that only covers the mod,, not any future tanks. I will use craig's list as needed. I did visit some pawn shops, couldn't really find any with any vape items.

I am more surprised at the lack of strength of pro vape lawyers/politicians. and I don't really see the vape community really pulling together with printed slogans/information that cant be 'missed by the public'. ie,, t-shirts/bumper stickers/even a bill board.

if we want our vape lifestyle to continue,, we need to get organized and fight for it.

I think highdesertvapes is already registered but to receive a shipment buyer needs to be licensed too, so that means only shipments to licensed tobacco shops. Ack getting sticky already!

It may be a good idea to find out what vape shops are already licensed.

My local shop is a tobacco shop but their prices are obviously MSRP so about 30 - 40% higher on most gear I have been stockpiling if I want to buy something after the deem date.
