Had a very sobering thought this morning. I was coiling and re-wicking my kayfun and I began wondering how long I would be content to "mess" with all that. Since I am preparing for the long haul that's something I need to consider.

Somedays I'm not sure I will have the patience. I better rethink stocking up on some more pre-built coils for my Kanger Subtank Minis. I was planning to just use the rba deck but wasn't planning for when the eyes get weaker and the hands more feeble.

The V1 and V2 Kanger RBA leak gobs. There is still always the option to bottom fill these tanks.
I have never had leaking problems with my RBAs and top filling. Curious as to what the problem might be. I use my fingers to cover the AF openings while filling... wonder if that's the issue?

Like anything it depends on the thickness of your juice and how much wick you have stuffed in the RBA. If tank vacuum is all that is stopping your juice from flooding your coil+chamber there is going to be issues when that vacuum is removed.

I've had the same thought and although I have a good stock of new heads that can be rebuilt, I've decided to start rebuilding the old ones now so that should it later become difficult I'll still have a supply of new heads for years to come for my wife or myself. The reality that she only likes plug and play vapes is a factor too!

Thanks ... I think that's an excellent idea. I have a bag full of those used coils but have never done anything with them. A good project for me.

I had the same thought a while back and ordered 300. Placed another FT order a week or so later, forgot about the first 300 and ordered 300 more.

So, in addition to week eyes and feeble hands, I also have the memory of a gold fish. Fortunately, I only have one box for spare parts. Now where did I put that box.

i have the FT $12+/-clones (state side Ebay $12 sounds like a good deal) and i am very happy with them. the 'ring' on the wick channel involves a learning curve. i leave mine on the atty because i find it too hard to put it on after the wick is installed. since having the Griffin clone my 'atty shopping has nearly stopped............i am very happy with it
I considered the ones from FT,but got scared away after getting those horrible clones i got a while back. How is the air flow ring, and juice control on those ones you got,are they tight and firm,or do they spin very easy and move on their own?

Thought the same thing. I'm only 27 now but for when that time comes...
You know how you might pay the little kid next door $10/£10 to quickly mow the lawn or whatever.
Save your money on coils, let your lawn grow too long and employ a youth to recoil your rigs every 2 weeks ;)

Top fill is a good idea on paper. Every top fill Atty i have used has leaked. Thats why i use my old school Kayfun instead of my Kayfun Mini V3. It has weak O rings On the drip tip and leaks.
Give a Griffin a try,out of all of them that i have,i have only had 1 leak after filling, and that was because i forgot to close the juice control.Other than that,i haven't lost a drop from any of them.

Another great idea. Maybe I should advertise for a lawn mower kid (21 yr +) who knows how to rebuild coils.

Good to know, thanks. My 3 clones that are perfect, were a steal, the guy was clearing everything out,so i got them at $9 each, the horrible clones i got cost me $16 each haha.I asked the guy i got the good ones from where he sourced them from since he won't be selling any more, but he wouldn't tell me.I'm guessing maybe he got them from Ft.

i have 4 picos'...1 married to 1 griffin clone,, 1 married to 1 avocado clone,, 2 are still single wrapped up like babies.

the other Griffen clone is packed up like a baby as well as the other Avocado, 1 SXK Corolla and 3 rda's. (freak show mini + mutation+ unknown thing i had modified)

2 topboxes,,,,1 sits ignored by my husband,,, the other is separated.. tank lives in the car with premade unused coil. the mod section lives on my desk pretending to be a battery charger.

1 nebox is now a nic only box
the other nebox is simply packed away.--he is 'just sorta there' lol.

my Griffin clone is my adv tank.

i just found the top air fill kit on ft...i will buy 2 or 4

If the PG percent is a big concern, figure the mL of flavoring into the base ratio. That is determine the amount of nic, VG and PG / flavoring combined as your unflavored formula.

Yep! I've thought of that, too, before. Would be workable, if I only made single flavoring eliquids, or just a few recipes that all took the same total % of flavorings, or within maybe a 1-2% range. They don't though, since I regularly make about 13-14 different recipes. They vary between 9-30% total flavoring in them. (See below for why.)

I've always thought if I was using that high % of flavoring, the flavoring was too weak to be useful...looked for a stronger version.

I'm not using a high % of a single flavoring though. All the recipes I make take between 3-7 different flavorings, at varying % each.

When I first started DIY, I found the posts of Bill's Magic Vapor on the TFA thread. That led to reading his blogs full of hints, tips, recipes, etc., and asking him some questions. He uses the high total flavoring % method when making eliquids. Since he's very knowledgeable and highly experienced (even used to make eliquids commercially for years), I decided to try his recipes. I absolutely love them! I also love that about 98% of them are shake & vape, too. Only 2% exceptions for me, are ones that have ethyl alcohol I have to evaporate off before vaping.

Friends have me make his recipes for them, too...even 1 neighbor who can get all the free juice he wants from the vape shop he works at. He says my eliquids (Bill's recipes) beat the heck out of any his shop sells!

I know many on the ECF make recipes at a much lower total flavoring %. Some of them even flat out say the HTF% is crazy and wrong! That's only their opinion though. On the other hand...I've yet to read a post from someone like me who uses HTF%...suggest to one of those people that LTF% is crazy or wrong.

That's 1 of the best things about DIY though IMO - everyone can find what works for them personally. That applies to the measuring method, the flavoring companies they prefer, low-high flavoring %, the recipes made, to steep or not, etc. None of those are set-in-stone, across the board, for everyone...with DIY.

By the way - The above wasn't meant to be a rant "at you", by any means. I guess I've just run across so much negativity regarding using higher flavoring %, that I felt the need to explain why some of us do it. Not that you were 1 of those people criticizing it though.

Think I'm too old to make a profession from rebuilding coils now :(
Wonder how much I could reasonably charge?
£10 an hour is cool but could I really find a round big enough to recoil for 8 hours a day/ 5 days a week? Hmmm

Hold on, I call my gear *he* as well. But boats are *she* why?
Are men supposed to call their things 'she' and women call their things 'he'? o_O
