That is true, I went a bit lighter on the rayon this time, squeaky but not distorting my coil and it worked great. So glad I tried the rayon too. I have a bunch of cotton and only a little rayon, figures I'd like the rayon LOLThe only difficult part of rebuilding is getting the right amount of wick in the coil or coils.
i have a sewing needle i use to tuck my rayon into its final resting place,, when i think i am done i use the needle to ensure i can still get the needle in between the ring and base (i am talking about griffin tank),, if the needle fits =i have a good balance of 'thicker rayon that still flows the juice really well without leaking'.... on my others i sorta 'fan it out' at the tail to make sure the fan stops the juice from waterfalling the atty's.. it becomes a rayon dam.View attachment 602985 Trying get a pic of the CLR showing rayon wick ends, it seems to be wicking ok now, I did not thin them out. Does it look too poufy??![]()
to avoid the rayon flavor on 1st few hits,,, after i wick and juice and test fire,, i flood the wick 1 more time with a lot of juice. replace the top cap and vape,, that flooding ensures its wet and i dont have to experience that rayon break in period. (i tend to do this with juice flow closed when possible)Ahh, I did this yesterday on accident when I got a phone call while splitting the rayon to wick my Boreas' 3mm coils and the rayon taste went away much faster. I will try pulling a bit more off each half next time I do 3mm coil re-wicks. Thanks.
1 coil tends to last me about 400-500mls,, then i replace or dry burn (depending on guage and whats going on),, i rewick about every 210 mls (7x30mls/day)One ECF member vaped 100 ml Juice with 1 set of coils. I go through 20 ml on one coil.
I have thought about doing the priming of the wick from the inside out with pulses on the tank bases that I can. i.e. drip on the wire and keep pulsing/dripping until the juice works it's way out to the tails and they are completely saturated instead of just soaking it and breaking it in while vaping. I will try that with the next tank I have to re-wick which should be soon.to avoid the rayon flavor on 1st few hits,,, after i wick and juice and test fire,, i flood the wick 1 more time with a lot of juice. replace the top cap and vape,, that flooding ensures its wet and i dont have to experience that rayon break in period. you are an inspiration! anytime i pity myself i remind myself that someone else has done it with more effort and problems than i have.Hey if a 61 year old guy with 1 1/2 hands, and almost legally blind can rebuild. You know rebuilding can't be that hard.
I tried DL hits and they are not for me, gave me instant lung pain. Guess my lungs had enough abuse from smoking LOL But I think I will like a bit extra air flow, the V1 is pretty tight, not bad tho but think I will like a bit more air![]()

ditto-- i send rayon out often with SASE envelopesBnrkwest, I'm sure that anyone on this board who uses rayon has way too much. If no one in the States can send you some, PM me. I've got 40 ft of the damn stuff. [emoji3]

So you like them modified better?I have been using KFL's, STM's, Serpent Mini's, ego one's, and an Erlk. The KFL's have been changed over, and will be replacing most of the others with the KFL's. The Erlk I like, so it will stay active.
Lighter would definitely be good though too.Yes, I like them better modified as they are shorter, and lighter. I see your point tho. I am retired, so I'm at home most of the time and don't need the larger volume.

That would be the deal breaker for me, one of my favorite vapes is a tank cracker/froster.I would also go with rebuilding by scratch the KFL's, but don't like plastic tanks. so afraid they will crack with my juices. I think it's really neat all the looks and styles you can put together.
