I recently switched to 6 mg from 12 mg strength, so no my stock will last me twice as long! Yippee!
That's a big drop. I don't think I could do that. Early on, I tried dropping from 18 to 12 and decided that was too much, too fast. I ended up settling in on 15 for the better part of 3 years. Now I'm trying to get down to 12, one or even a half a mg at a time.

I think there will be some warning before it gets hard to get nic, so I haven't bothered stocking up.
Warning number one came in 2009 when the FDA was having the Customs service confiscate imports of e-cig related things.

Warning number two came in 2014 when the Deeming was formally proposed.

Warning number three came in 2016 when the Deeming was finalized.

Are you familiar with The Parable of the Flood?

The best deal for him, within the country (to avoid high import taxes and possibly customs confiscating it), was to buy a 60mL bottle of the 75mg/mL nic base. For that 1 bottle his cost without S/H was equivalent to $11.93USD
Put in in perspective. How many packs of cigarettes will $12 buy there? How many packs of cigs will that $12 bottle of nic replace?

Even at $150 a liter, it's dirt cheap compared to cigs. I've just hit $15,000 saved by not smoking. During that time, I've gone through the equivalent of almost exactly one liter of nic base. That's 100:1!

I vape on average 7 ml of 6 mg per day. I also use a 12 or 18 mg juice for my low power mtl stealth stuff. I'e been doing this mixing just about 1 year now. I'd say I got about 50% on like/dislike recipes, usually 15 ml batches. I've gotten braver, going with 30 ml test starters as I've become more comfortable knowing what my usual flavorings taste like, and I'm running more like 60-70% on likes.

With all that mixing, and all the different strengths, I just finished my first 250 ml bottle of 100 mg nic. So it turns out the math is about right on a stash life of~15 years right now (before I saw the Heartland sale). And that's with a fair amount of waste on that first bottle. I'm probably good for even longer if I don't start vaping 30 ml a day.

For anyone in the "you can never have too much nic" Heartland is offering 25% off this weekend with memorial2017. Brings their standard $44.99 a liter to $34. Hard to beat a liter of 100 mg nic at that price. I use their nic, and will say it's a good nic. I don't vape unflavored, so I can't vouch for it in that setting. They also have lots of flavorings as well, and they 25% off as well. Shipping isn't terrible, about $8 for UPS ground for a liter of nic.

I was wanting to make another nic order and this was too good to pass up. Thanks @Eskie

Underlining was added to show what parts I'm respondng to.

See, I'm not sure many US vendors wouldn't jump at the chance to charge what they could for it, if they utilized the old "supply and demand" pricing structure at that point. Maybe the UK vendors didn't do much of that though.

As far as what we pay here in the US by the Liter - I'm not sure I agree that we pay relatively high prices for it...compared to what others have to pay in other parts of the world. I recently helped a member in India, source his best deal there for nic base for DIY. It is legal there, and sold by various vendors in India, from 0mg-75mg, and in quantities from 60mL-1L. He only needed enough for about a 6-10 month supply of DIY @ 3mg.

The best deal for him, within the country (to avoid high import taxes and possibly customs confiscating it), was to buy a 60mL bottle of the 75mg/mL nic base. For that 1 bottle his cost without S/H was equivalent to $11.93USD. So, that works out to a whopping $198.83USD per liter, if bought 60mL at a time! 125mL of the same 75mg was $19.23USD, so that's equivalent to $153.84USD per liter, if bought 125mL at a time.

It was available in 500mL and 1L sizes, but the highest strength available in those quantities was just 18mg. (He didn't need a L, nor have a way to safely store it.) The cost for 1L was equivalent to $46.92USD + S/H...but that was less than 1/4 as strong as the 75mg, so would be more expensive in the longrun.

Compared to that, IMO we have it at practically bargain basement prices here, especially when it's 100mg/mL and on sale by the liter! :)

ETA: The least expensive vendor for flavorings over there...charges about $3.15USD for just 10mL of TFA flavorings, too! I felt so sorry for him...having to pay those prices for nic base and flavorings. The PG and VG wasn't cheap either compared to here.
Near impossible to get a litre of nic in Canada for under $100CAD (about $70USD). Still super cheap IMO as a litre of 100mg will last my wife and I about 5.5 years. Over $30,000 in cigarettes if we still smoked. Crazy!

I've been running 12mg or so for the last 3 years. The TPD has just kicked in properly in the UK and you can no longer legitimately buy nic at over 20mg or 10ml. (You can buy multiple bottles but the price increase is disproportional) I wanted to try and make my stash last a little longer so I have reduced my mix down to 6mg. I have found that if I keep a bottle of 12mg handy and just drip a little of that when I have not vaped for a while (like first thing in the morning, or if I am somewhere where I am unable to vape as often as usual) It has been reasonably easy to reduce the nic level without increasing the overall amount of liquid I use on a daily basis.

When I stopped smoking 5 years or so ago it was costing me £3.50 every other day in tobacco , I have not checked recently how much tobacco is, no doubt it will have gone up in price... My current spend is about £0.25 a week on juice. It has made a considerable difference to the family budget.

And that's with a fair amount of waste on that first bottle.
Using squonk mods exclusively means I have close to zero waste on nic and minimal waste on flavors.

I run many of my mods with unflavored juice (that contains nic) in the bottle. When I get new flavors, I start out mixing them stand-alone at the high end of the recommended percentage, but without nic. I then then drip the stand-alone flavor into the atty to get a feel for it and squonk in unflavored juice from the bottle. Once I get a feel for the flavor stand-alone, I might think: This will go well with that.. So I'll try a few drops of this and a few drops of that. So by the time I get around to making a bottle of mixed-flavor juice, I already have a pretty good idea what it will taste like.

I sort of ended up testing flavors the way you describe although not as consistent a protocol. And I should have clarified. When I said waste, I meant bottles I mixed that ended up tossed. At least I was able to rinse and reuse my glass bottles.

I probably still have half a liter of vendor juice that I doubt I'll ever vape but I'm reluctant to pour down the drain because I spent good money on it. I'll generally only dump it if/when it turns dark or starts to smell bad.

Oh, my tossed stuff were all the recipes that sounded good but turned out terrible. Even aging couldn't redeem them. I had a few commercial juices that sounded good and had decent reviews, but I found awful that got tossed as well. That was also a big motivating factor in driving me into DIY as it was getting expensive to buy a "premium" juice and have to send it to a watery death. Of course when the Deeming stuff started, it only reinforced my drive to find recipes I liked.

It's £20.00 for 50g of golden Virginia an sadly I'm spending that a fortnight but I used to buy 3 pouches a week (60.00) so even shop bought e liquid is cheaper!

Yes, lucky US people, your nic is SUPER cheap compared to us in EU! I spent more than this ^ just on shipping and VAT the last time I bought a liter of 100mg! Jealous! (And now, of course, I can't buy it at all, except in teeny bottles of 20mg or lower; I'm fully stocked, though.)

@Skold £20 for 50g ouch!
I would be spending close to £80 a month now.

DIY stuff and mods are more expensive here. I guess that is why the bloke that runs my local B&M is driving a Porche.

For Mods and RDA's I use the larger china vendors. Much cheaper. Although you have to wait for postage.
I got my nic from Darkstar. In the UK. About £70 for 2L of 72mg. That is about 20 years worth at the rate I vape.

Originally I was going to just stick with flavorings. I needed some replacements for running low, and a few new things to round out my stash, mostly fruits of which I only strawberry. So I got some Dragonfruit, Pear, and Orange.

Then I saw the nic sale and figured at that price I could always use another 5 year supply.

And it's only Saturday.
