Yep you all have convinced me. I'm leaving everything factory sealed unless I plan on using it. I live in freaking Denver I'm not concerned with humidity.

Also how many DOA mods have you guys actually received? I think I have a current count of 0. My Therion I got won't turn off but I've never actually gotten a DOA mod (missed the return period, it works, whatever). I figure tops I have two dead mods in storage, and that I can live with and don't think I'd get a warranty for anyways.

Now if only someone could convince me that leaving my nic in plastic bottles was a good idea...

I never got a DOA mod, but then I still have old stash I never opened.

I have gotten mods that stopped working a few weeks in.

Cloupor mini 30W - would not give warranty. :nah:
Innokin VV4 - gave warranty. :thumb:

    Good track record for me.

Authentic Tanks? I got 2 or 3 also that were defective.
    Clones Tanks? Not one defective

Now if only someone could convince me that leaving my nic in plastic bottles was a good idea...
    :D.

I wouldn't take that chance. I still haven't gotten mine in bottles yet. In the freezer (but freezer is failing, may have to buy another). I hope to get them out of the bottles by end of year tops.

Put the nic in glass, that's not a suggestion that's going to change. I previously posted a link to a recent scholarly article where they were looking at supposedly "good stuff" plastic bottles and had leaching into water. We're aiming at long term storage - don't mess around.

On checking our gear, mods I really don't care too much about. I fire most of them up because I do like to see that they work on arrival, and am not concerned with downstream resale. Tanks, OTOH. I do believe in separating, but that's just me.

Received Pulse X numbers 3 and 4 for the stash. Luckily the two I received today were the KITS so that’s two more squonk RDAs. :) Topside Lite is still in the tracking netherworld, and now I have two Asmodus Lustors coming soon. Two more FT packages of glass, an RTA discussed in Shinyitis (a MTL; called the Hussar?), squonk RDAs, replacement parts, and a few other bits such as 510 connectors. Also Brunhilde MTL number two OTW.

Pretty excited about my stockup. No regrets!

Yeah I was kidding about that part. I seriously might just do it one liter at a time to make it less of a daunting task and more of a progressive project.

Myrany I hope you know I do not disagree with you on this issue - my comment is related to your comment so that’s why I put it in quote. Just right now I’m watching the Matt from SMM livestream with his guest Dimitiris Agrafiotis and Dimitiri literally just suggested that it is not likely the FDA will be able to/will enforce the PMTA. Of course I hope he is right but I am afraid that is giving off a sense of security that could be dangerously false. I am a fan of both of those guys and I’m a little surprised that they would put this attitude out there for people to feel like the deeming isn’t a serious problem. Anyone is free to disagree, but considering so many people seem to just now be figuring out May 2020 is a “thing,” I’m a little shocked it would be downplayed so soon.
Holy crap this thread moves fast! I drove home from work and had dinner with my wife and kids and I'm 3 pages behind.

This post from @Astron is important though. The summary of the FDA's guidance is that they:
    • are focused on banning flavors from pods first and foremost, since those are what the "kids" are using
    • are still planning to drop the hammer in May 2020 since that's what the courts forced them to do (it's not their fault!)
    • acknowledge that they don't have the resources to enforce all the letters of the law as they are currently written, so they will pick and choose the worst offenders after the May 2020 deadline
    • "understand" that adult smokers need an off ramp from cigarettes, and they are "trying" to strike a balance between the welfare of the Children and adult smokers looking for alternatives
    • have the right to change their mind about anything they choose to enforce at any time they decide it's necessary, so what's written in this guidance means nothing for vapers' planning purposes
So, every view on the future is possible. But the only rational course of action for vapers to pursue is what we on this thread have been doing (and saying) for years. Hope for the best (go Dmitri!) and prepare for the worst.

    Happy New Year all!

Uuuugh. FT notified me that some items I ordered during Xmas sale are now discontinued. Never had that happen at FT before.

Seems I can't win for losin' with these xmas purchases.
I had 5 tickets from FT telling me the same, never had it happen before either. Had another from Vaporl too, discontinued tank. People are stocking up :)

Does anyone know of a good place to pick up Pico X? I'd like another of those. The improved fire button makes it easier to use with a gloved hand.

I'm confident I can live with my stash for years to come. I vaped the same rda and mod exclusiively for 4 years. Now I've got some variety for special situations. It's dawned on me that I don't need as many duplicates as the variety increases. I already notice each setup gets less and less use which hopefully extends it life. And I'm easy to please. Pico is still my favorite.

FDA says they may intercept imported hardware. That's easy and obvious for commercial shipments but how good are they at spotting items in small packages?
I think that would prove difficult for the FDA as they are more undermanned than CBP. The FDA's reporting shows a less than 2% inspection rate for imports. That's from 2012, the most recent data I could find and is specifically for imported foods. They have their hands pretty full with inspecting our imported foods and prescription meds. https://www.thepacker.com/article/fdas-report-shows-2-inspection-rate-imports

CBP randomly inspects packages. The sheer number of packages coming into the US makes it prohibitive to inspecting the contents of each. There are ~21,000 CBP officers for 328 ports of entry. Not all of those inspect packages. There are ~1,000,000 packages coming into the US daily. No where near enough inspectors.

I suspect CBP spends a good amount of their time looking at large shipments for illegal items versus looking at rather small vaping gear packages bought by any of us. If a scent dog (drugs/other), or scanner, doesn't mark it then it very likely passes through. CBP is looking to make the big bust. They won't get much news time with a package from FT with a mod, atty or vaping bits and bobs.

Fasttech and Everzon are the two places I remember seeing the pico x. But @JCinFLA probably has a few sites to hook you up with - she knows everything shopping related.

That's the only reason I am even considering getting the silica gel packets . . .

SO - THANKS - Everyone for the suggestions and the links to the ones that are more affordable . . .
