New member, but been following this thread for quite a while. I have never really been a prepper type, but with May looming and bans coming up from the states I decided I needed to stock up. I have been stocking up since mid last year and think I am just about there. Here was my strategy:
- Consider different vaping scenarios: Regular, stealth, etc.
- Standardize on a small number of platforms.
- Focus on rebuildable atomizers. If prebought coils go away, I'm still good.
- Buy mods that use external batteries. LiPO batteries on mods are hard to replace and have limited lifespan. Standardized on 18650 and bought many mods. Took advantage of sales.
- Buy some mech mods since electronics do die.
- Buy things in at least pairs so I would have parts if one got damaged and parts became unobtainium. Sales and fasttech/3fvape/etc have been great here.
- Similarly, gets parts I might need later. A rebuildable atomizer with a cracked center post is useless. Glass is another example. Pick up extra specialized/unusual gaskets. For AIO, buy extra tanks.
- Pick up rebuilding supplies. Wires, Mesh, cotton, rayon. I realize these will be available but if the worst happens, I suspect the reliability of sources may become more shadowy. They are cheap now, high quality and it's just good to have them around.
- DIY. Stock up on 100mg/ml nicotine. Store correctly in deep freeze. Choose 3 vendors to avoid "all eggs in one basket". Another advantage of this is that since many states (and fed) are putting onerous nicotine taxes in place, this could be a considerable cost savings later.
With all of that in mind, I have enough liquid nicotine and gear to last the rest of my life if the worst happens.
My last concern is really flavorings. I have never seen a consensus opinion how to store flavorings for a long time. While flavorings will not necessarily be banned in the worst case since they do have other uses, I suspect the market will contract considerably and choices will be reduced. Would love to store some quantity of my daily driver flavorings but I worry that it is really a waste of money to buy in quantity.
Did I miss anything? Any thoughts about storing flavorings (FA, Capella, etc).
