I'm pretty confident that if it's properly stored (in glass, in a freezer), nic will be good indefinitely.

I'm less confident that the same is true of batteries. In the early days of of Li-ion batteries, the conventional wisdom was that they would lose as much as 10-15% of their capacity per year, even if they were unused, in storage. Perhaps this was true of early chemistries, but I'm not seeing that with current cells. Unfortunately there's little hard data to be had, and certainly not enough to be able to say they'll still be at X% if stored for a decade or two.

There can be a capacity loss when in storage but some of that can be recovered when recharged. There is a permanent degree of capacity loss though due to the breakdown of some compounds that leads to loss of available lithium.

The amount of capacity loss depends greatly on the battery chemistry and construction, degree of aging and and internal damage it has already experienced, and ambient temperature. It’s hard to give predictions but that are some academic/industry papers out there with data for particular setups.

Even a 10%-15% loss can be hard to notice during use though as we typically have very little control of all the variables involved and often aren’t even aware of some of the variables that can affect battery run time.

I posted in the Bargain Bin thread this AM about EjuiceSteals 15% Sale for Father's Day, but in case you don't browse that thread....the code is HAPPY FATHER (with the 2 words spaced as written, not together).

Of particular interest to some might be the following, which will be $35.69 after the 15% off. Has the Cerberus tank in the kit.

GeekVape Aegis Solo 100W Vape Starter Kit

They also have some LinCig Hypnos pod starter kits in Hardware Clearance for just $.99/kit and $.50/pack of 2 replacement pods. Each will be 15% off of those dirt cheap prices, too. I now have a nice-sized stash of both the starter kits and packs of pods after buying just 3 at first, for myself and a friend. We both really liked them when they were $1.99/kit. At just $.99/kit...it was a no brainer for us to get quite a few more and more packs of pods! If you've ever wanted to try a pod set-up, but didn't want to put out a bunch of money in case you didn't like it...I'd jump on a couple of these! At their price (kits + pod packs), they're great for friends and family who might want to also try vaping.
I was blown away at how decent those LinCig Hypnos are. The coils are lasting forever. I have taken full advantage of that price. Buying a few more each time I ordered. I’ve been vaping since 2009 so I’m no spring chicken when It comes to knowing what’s good. But I may be considered an old goat.

Not sure if they'd issue a refund...or would issue a credit to your account. I saw something last week on their website about not giving refunds any more, but giving credits instead. IMO, $8 possibly saved is worth a try anyway!

This is 100% accurate, I ordered a device that came and is faulty and they offered credit not a refund.

The device is the Wellon Transformer and it's absolutely trash.

I hope you at least accepted the credit. They're going to be adding a lot more things to their Clearance sections (hardware and eliquids) for quite awhile yet. I was able to snag a couple of the Innokin Coolfire Mini + Zenith Kits that I like, Friday afternoon. Had more than 2 in my cart, but while completing checkout the others were sold.

I have a label to send it back, I haven't decided. The device works but you have to wiggle the battery around, I could fix it but honestly I don't think it's worth fixing. It's got a delay when it fires that I can't stand, I have two Kbox Mini's that are the same way that I rarely use.

It does have an interesting tank though, it has two glass sections and is very strange. Of course there would likely be no way to get coils for it.

    Look at this thing:

Well, it seems from the above, that you've got 5 valid reasons TO use the label and send it back. Use the credit to get something(s) else that you know you'll like and will use. ;)

Well 4, I didn't purchase it for the tank but yeah I think I will send it back. Of course I don't get shipping back so I will only have about $6 or $7 credit to spend after shipping cost which is why I'm not that concerned with it.

I should have waited but I made another order yesterday because I wanted a Coil Master 521 Tab and I knew they would sell out before I got my credit [emoji16]

The online battery vendors will probably have them in stock for quite a while because most can say they “don’t sell to vapers” since they have all the warnings on their web pages. It’s the vape shops that, IMO, will stop selling them eventually as their liability is huge if they sell a battery that says it must not be used for vaping and there is an accident.

Thanks for the explanation. I'm afraid you might be right.

And thanks again for keeping us all from blowing ourselves up. ;)

I'm not keen on using plastic for long-term storage for two reasons: 1) It is somewhat permeable to oxygen and glass isn't. 2) I don't know what will leech out of it. Glass doesn't leech anything.

Yeah. I agree. I don't like plastics. I get my VG and PG in smallish quantities (never more than 1L), and in amber PET bottles (from Nude Nicotine), but I should probably start rebottling them anyway. Thanks for the nudge.

Agreed, especially if you vape like I do, where I'm really only using the top half of my cells. (Mech squonker, relatively low wattage)

However, it will show on a 0.2C discharge test done with WMR CBA, which I have, and data from it is what I'm basing my statements on. :)

I had one pair of cells that I took out of service after two years of alternate day use that had a capacity loss of around 30% compared to some unused cells from the same batch. But I never noticed that loss in use because almost all of it was down on the lower half of the voltage curve.

If you paid via cc, you can dispute the charge due to its being faulty.

    And the NY BAN starts!
Tried to order some things from MFS (empty pods, coils)- was DENIED the coils

I found the following from VaporDNA:

    Total Vape Ban

We are unable to process and ship any orders:

New York - Effective Date: 7/1/2020 (for online sales )
Whereas I found this on Element Vape:

Furthermore, we are unable to ship any E-Liquid to residents of the state starting on July 1st.
It looks like some vendors are simply not shipping anything to NY, possibly to avoid any hassle, while others are just restricting eliquid.

Perhaps they will change their mind and ease restrictions over time. I've decided I am not taking a risk. I am going to place some last minute orders of the essentials.

It's a reminder to me that policies can change quickly and may not reflect the letter of the law. Better to get what you can while you can.

I strongly recommend that you contact the vendors and explain the details of the NY new law to them. Politely. Vendors are scared and don't want to be fined of shut down...

We were in a similar situation in 2016 when CA (and a handful of other states) suddenly raised the legal age to buy tobacco to 21 and the government started cracking down on vendors who sold to minors. One company refused to ship to CA altogether (they put a big disclaimer on their site at the time that they had no way to verify age). I sent them an email, they said that they were looking for a solution and finally (after several months) installed some age verifying software and started shipping to CA again. This whole age verification was a long and painful process, but now we don't even notice it.

    Good luck!

Agreed. Some articles out there are vague and I am sure a lot of these vendors don't have time to look into it.

I am hoping that by stocking up we will eventually be on the other side of this thing. Hopefully there will be some quality small businesses remaining. For example, Kai's Virgin Vapor mentioned that they are going through the PMTA process with a limited run of products. I am thinking at least some businesses are going to shore up their core offerings.

I hope the big companies don't rewrite the landscape and turn this art into an abomination.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Vape vendors are notorious for being non-tech savvy (when it comes to their websites) and don't want to be bothered with trying to figure out how to (or pay someone to) restrict only certain products/categories in their online stores by state...so they just ban all sales to that state.

It must be hard with regs changing constantly and each State different. Some on-line vendors are small operations and they don't have legal departments to monitor the rules and software people to update the ordering software.

A few years ago Indiana passed a law that banned juice from outside the State. The wording was a mess and it looked like it could be interpreted as banning anything vape related. Some vendors started blocking sales to Indiana. Luckily the law was withdrawn because of legal problems. I remember reading through the law and scratching my head trying to figure out what it meant. Imagine trying to do that for 50 States with the threat of being dinged if you got it wrong.

I would just like to add that Pence approved the law, and now he is our vice president.

I just ordered the Vaporesso Gen 220 mod and the Prince TFV12 Cobra tank, plus 4 more batteries and a new charger. I managed to coil and wick the Dead Rabbit RDA I bought from the classifieds so now I have two mods in rotation, but run out of charged batteries too quickly. I like the DR, but I don't really like dripping, so I'll be glad when my DR RTA arrives from Sourcemore. Two months and no movement on my FT order.
