I am a total newbie, I have an epipemod on the way with a Pheonix rebuildable. From all the reading I have been doing it seems that you all seem to really like the Genesis type atties. I am a total tinkerer and I think I would get the hang of wicking pretty quick.
Given the un-availability of rebuildable atomizors like Penelope, Hellfire and the Zen would it be wise to order a DID from evape right now? It's the only Genesis Atomizer I seem to be able to find that I can actually order. They have a mini, short and regular. Can anyone shed some light on the difference other then the amount of juice they can take.

Only diff is indeed the volume of liquid

DiD must be the single most hard to setup gen atty I`ve ever tried...but its nice and available now.

Have you heard much about the Pitgen? I think they are just shipping out now but just wondering if you have an opinion.

$78 from Israel...not bad at all.

Dont particularly fancy the nuts arrangement or the plastic sleeve right besides the coil

Pi-genesis (PitGen) for sale

Ya i may have the opportunity to get one.....but then again I could wait and save for a Cobra. Just want my first Genesis style to be a winner.

..had my DiD for a week now, Really Really happy rollin my own coils and the vape quality.
I normally vape 18mg on cartos or Vivi Nova's but on the DiD I found I was receiving too much Nic quick. So when vape mail finally brought me some 12mg of my favorite juice I thought I could handle it, lol. It's amazing that dropping down to 12mg I still approached the line, but I recognized the 'too much' feeling and stopped vaping. 'The line' is also easier to see coming on 12mg tho, thank gawd! I think to vape at the rate I like, on the DiD I'm going to have to drop the Nic a little lower than 12mg to match the 18 on Cartos and Vivi's. Totally insane! lol.

On Cartos, Vivi's and Dripping I vape around 8.6 Watts to 9 Watts. Above that, the taste goes funky singed yuk. On the Did I can vape over 11 Watts without distorting the taste negatively, Hahahaha.. I'm Running a 2Ω coil at 4.75 right now, 11.2 Watts! If I take it higher to 12 Watts I get a few good tasting hits and then a dry hit :(

For best temp & flavour I found vaping the DiD without a drip tip is really nice. I haven't had any hot juice splatters either, probably due to the DiD having its wick/coil off to the side and the center posts nut just bellow the drip tip hole. I don't think I'd do this with some of the other Genesis styles with center wick/coil set ups. The vape temperature is more to my liking. I always found the DiD's vape temp with a drip tip a little too cold for me compared to my Vivi's. So for now, I'm liking the Naked DiD! Oh, and the smooth Stainless Steel cap of the DiD feels like a womans warm nipple on my lips, minus the protrusion, lol.

While trying to get a hotter vape and more plumage I started to roll my coil loops closer to each other. This worked well and made great improvements. I think the trick here, to getting the max vape plume, is to have your coils just close enough that the bubbling off the wire just overlaps the bubbles of it's neighbour. To close tho, like you'd roll on a silica wick, it would start to dry hit. The VG/PG ratio changes the distance needed.

My theory today of why the vape isn't as hot as silica is Stainless Steel wick is absorbing more heat and silica reflects it better.

Ya the DID rocks when set up right and it's infinitely adjustable once you know how, so that it provides that 'just right' vape.
I also had to significantly reduce my nic ratio. I'm down to 12mg but even this is too much if I chain vape for a while. The massive clouds have to come from somewhere so it sucks back the juice pretty fast.

Would have to see it in my hand to guess at it's usefulness. Is it ridged? Does it hold form when rolled? I still use Silica wick in my vivi novas.

I still question the silica + inhalation with long term lung health.

Although by the World Health Organizations guidelines for safety, Silica should be safe having fiber lengths greater than 5 micron, I still don't trust any of those fibers not to break. Where is the data that shows silca won't break to being shorter than 5 microns when used in a e-cig set-up, with rapid heating followed by cooling, expansion stresses of expanding heating wire.... Even if it's a very small amount, we don't know the accumulative rate of silica fibers 5 microns and less in the lungs, if any.

For this reason, is my primary move to Stainless Steel wicking with rebuildables.

Recidivus brought this up in another thread, but I figured I'd bring it up here, since it's a little more on topic. It appears as though Vaporgeek has (or will have eventually, since it's out of stock) a Genesis-style atty for quite an attractive price-point: Rebuildable Atomizer

My curiosity is well and truly piqued by this. Has anyone here tried it? If it's any good, I may not have to dig under as many couch cushions to launch my foray into rebuildables.
