Ugh...struggling with my new Cthulhu. The 510 threads are crappy so it is a pain to screw into my Sig 150 AND it won't lie flush. On top of that, the crappy hex key is already stripped so I can't even build the damned thing. I've got a buddy at a hardware store checking for a replacement but I am bummed. 2.5 weeks out from the order date and I still haven't managed so much as a puff on the device :(

To anyone having issues, I found a 44 piece precision screwdriver set at Walmart in a little red and black box with a clear cover, it's inexpensive and it's worked perfect for all my RDAs and has a perfectly sized hex head. My Cthulhu also will look a bit lop sided while I'm screwing it on, I usually just shift it slightly and continue turning it until it sits flush.

I want to thank everyone who gave me some advice. I used that posted picture and ended up wrapping 2.5ID 24g coils, I think about 9 wraps, can't remember! Lol Either way it's been vaping great and can take it up to 80 watts with no dry hits. My wicks aren't as snug as I use them in my RDA (MXv4 with giant coils at 150w), and I tripped the tails so the tip of the tails was over the juice channels with a few tufts of cotton going into them. It has leaked when I forget to close are AFC, but inhaling without firing sucks the juice back in and takes care of that. No leaks other than that, and the thing sat with a slight tilt all night long more than halfway filled. I'll try to remember to take a picture next time I open it up.

Oh and I forgot to add, if you have the issue when your chimney unscrews along with the part the drip tip connects to, put a tiny amount of ejuice on the chimney top. I just rubbed the tip of my ejuice bottle on the top of the chimney right before I screwed the part the drip tip connects to and haven't had any issues with it.

That's the one I got, works great. Only difference is that mine is "Ultra Tough Ultrasteel" instead of "Hyper Tough", but other than that difference in the stickers it's identical. That hex bit fits the Cthulu perfectly IMO, and the largest phillips head screwdriver fits My MXv4 and other RDAs perfectly. Great on computers too! lol

I gotta admit, I'm still trying to figure out my Cthulhu, but I guess I'm just picky. I've been trying to cram in coils that will pretty much just fit, as I'm trying to get a build in I can push past 50 watts, as I usually vape at 150w on a MXv4, 3.5mm dual parallel coils 24g 7 or 8 wraps. So I'm trying to get the biggest coil I can get in there to get above 50w. This last built I tried is bent dual coils, 24g 2 or 2.5mm 12 wrap. Each coil is 12 wraps, folded in half to kind of make quad coils, in case I wasn't too clear lol. I got these to fit and added the cotton in so it was a bit snug, and I end up with I feel like muted flavor and after about 5 hits it starts having a slight scorched taste. I made sure to trim the tails so they went into the juice channels without being too thick in them. Would trimming them so it's just a few strands in the juice channels help?

At the moment I only have 24g wire, so if anyone has any recommendations for a 50w+ build using 24g wire, I'd really appreciate it.
Sounds like too much in the channels, it's a delicate balance.

Trim the cotton around the deck, blow hard on to the wick ends to fluff the hell out of em and trim any excess from the top and the sides. Then juice her up, directing the bottom 1/4 of the wicks into the juice channels.

Then gently mould the remainder so it's sitting directly over the channels. A good tip is, when you're done look at the deck from above, you don't want to see any of the opening at the top of the channels, make sure they're covered to prevent leaks.

This way you should have a large body of cotton at the top of the channels, close to the coil with a fairly direct stream of juice due to very little cotton impeding the flow in the channels.

Good luck!

Yep, I got the exact set that you got yesterday. I went to home depot, harbor freight and walmart before I found a 0.9mm hex. It fits perfect with the screws and hopefully won't strip within 5 minutes like the one that came with the RTA. Now tonight I can finally try and decent build that's properly tightened down and try to get my wicking right

That is actually how I ended up wicking it. I thought I had it, then as I smoothed it in noticed it was too much so I trimmed it again so it was a nice puff over the channels with a thinner tail a few mms into the juice channel. Works great and has only leaked twice when I filled it in a rush and forgot to close the AFC. I sucked the juice back in and didn't leak. Took it out today for a drive to the store and left my RDA and it worked great. Been vaping it at 75w with no dry burn in sight.

The only issue I've found is it sometimes gets stuck in the screw. If I can't pull it out easily I just take the screwdriver handle off and then I can easily pull it off the screw. Haven't had any issues with it stripping any of the screws and I've had the kit for a few weeks at least. Really good for something so inexpensive.

Just got my Cthulhu in the mail today and it rocks!

It does have a bit of a learning curve and I'm not sure if I'm a fan of the post screws. I left my air wide open when I top filled, and oops juice everywhere.

Took me about a half hour to get it cleaned, wrapped, and wicked, so not bad for my first time. I got a 26g dual coil in there that's coming out at .39.

This Cthulhu is just amazing! It hits like a champ and there's lots of flavor in that big cloud! I'm very happy with this thing and I'm going to be using it for a long time.

If you're looking for a great tank and don't mind learning how to tame this beast, I highly recommend it. If you're looking for something that's easy and convenient, I'm not sure if the Cthulhu is the right tank for you.

:Insert cuss words here:

Beyond frustrated. No local stores carry the hex key or driver. I can't get the leads tight enough with the included tool. All Amazon hex keys or drivers will take over a week to two weeks to get to me.

I just want to vape on this damned thing :(
Had you checked walmart for that little took case that was mentioned a few posts above? I also tried a few local stores before I went to walmart and picked up a little kit that had a 0.9mm hex in it.

Funny thing, I live in Los Angeles which isn't very wal mart friendly. There are a few wal mart "food stores" but none that sell tools within and hour drive.

I ordered one from Amazon prime that will be here Monday.

Thanks for taking the time to help out:)

Got to work! My first two builds leaked everywhere. Last night I was walking past the work table and thought to sit and try it again. Everything fine and dry.
I smoked menthol for 45 years so I always have a tank with me aside whichever other flavor I have. I also take the menthol when driving around. This saves me from carrying a dripper and bottle of menthol. Dig it!

Nice. What did you do different to stop the leaking?
