Nah, vaping itself was always in the crosshairs. The children became useful ammunition.
That’s what I’m saying, the logic doesn’t pan out. We all know what’s going on. There’s another thing I’m watching that they’re trying to make illegal here and they couldn’t do it because too many people raised a fuss so they influenced Indonesia to make it illegal there and kill the supply here. It’s dirty, they play dirty. It absolutely kills any respect you might possibly have for the people you’re supposed to have respect for.

I am fine and dandy with losing a game. Long term, it only makes me better but cheating and deflating any sort of structure, it chaps my backside man. It actually pisses me off, usually I’m pretty good at the whole forgivness and letting it slide but the lack of integrity gets me in the sensitive parts.

I don’t mean to clutter up the thread but I had to vent. These were medicinal posts.

FDA Created the Youth Vaping Epidemic, Now It’s Doubling Down

Fear Profiteers How E-cigarette Panic Benefits Health Activists

Two of the part time employees at my local library are a high school female student and the mother of a male high school student. I had the opportunity to briefly discuss the popularity of vaping among the students at our local school. This is a very small rural high school and farm community in Ohio.

They both said that vaping is "extremely popular" among the students. They couldn't give me a percentage of students who vape, both said "a lot" for what that's worth. The student said she thought there were more vapers than smokers in the school, but that her group of friends don't do either because they participate in sports and is frowned upon. I asked the student how do the underaged vapers obtain their vapes. She said that from what she understands, they usually get them from "adult acquantances" within the community, a black market network that apparently is quite profitable for those adults participating in this shady business.

Neither could really explain "why" the kids are vaping or "what" they were vaping. Neither were aware of the recent hospitalizations and death of teens and young males allegedly believed to be vaping black market street drugs. I saw numerous posters in the school warning of the dangers of vaping (typical of the old "This is your brain on drugs" campaign) when I attended a girls volleyball game last night.

Is that the best we can do?

Given the nanny state we live in, given politicians who want to be seen as "doing something" and given that there is a lot of lobbyist money to be skimmed off by those same politicians and the regulators; this is the best we can do with the best government money can buy.

Then again, I guess the same could be said about the rest of us the first time we smoked a cigarette and coughed like crazy.

Oh, yeah, I remember that. My first cigarette was an unfiltered (of course) Camel. I was so dizzy I almost couldn't stand up. Challenge Accepted!

We had a kind of vulgar name for filters on cigarettes, which I won't mention here.

Then there's the British term for cigarettes. Best not said if you don't have an English accent so as not to be misconstrued. Hard to understand why that hasn't changed with the times, but who can understand the Brits? Maybe it's a Brexit thing.

Lordy, what a mess. Seems to get worse every day.

We only have a crash out Brexit looming and the threat of no perishable foodstuffs, fuel, medicines etc not to mention parliamentary chaos...

Leaving the country and going way, way East before that happens.

Actually I'd prefer to leave the planet and live with the Clangers ( hands up, who knows what they are?) , but the Dan Dare dreams of my boyhood haven't matured into reality, yet.

It's funny how juul as a company is trying to look like an angel adding the "block the device" around schools option to C1 model and saying things like their Ceo did recently, but at the same time they sell millions of devices and cartridges for them full of 50mg nic salts which are causing addiction Very fast and the addiction is pretty strong, esp. for younger people. Nobody needs 50mg nic salts! People who used to smoke 3 packs of cigs a day were completely fine switching to 20-24mg nic e-juices (not salts).
Sorry, Dream, but I cringe when I hear statements like this. "Nobody needs 50mg" ?? Well, nobody needs cigarettes. Nobody needs vapes. But nobody needs to tell others what they need. I'll ignore the part about nic addiction, but I've read dozens of studies going back over 20 years, and it's not what you think. Juul's original intent, as they designed the product, was to give as close as possible to a smoking experience. And they did a better job of that than any other vape company.

Yes, they are a company that makes money, and wanted to make more. So for a time, they exploited the popularity gained with teens. It was a brief, time, but they saw where that was headed, and pulled back from it. Not out of altruism, but they knew it would hurt them long term. Like any other company, their goal is not to improve the standing of their industry, but to improve their bottom line.

Look at the data. I've posted it dozens of times, and it's easily found. One hit from a Juul is almost identical to what one hit from a cigarette gives, nic-wise. The fact that some quit with less nic is completely irrelevant. Many quit smoking cold turkey, with obviously zero nic, but that isn't what we should judge on.

Excellent, Brew.

I do agree that it's not up to anyone to tell anyone (else) what or how to do or not do vape (or anything else, for that matter). I was never advised to use a particular nicotine level, for example, nor was I advised to lower it to zero at some point, then just quit. Just as Mike is quite happy with his own decision to vape 36, I was quite happy to vape my 18 for many years. I did actually lower it a bit, to 15ish, but in some ways it was accidental (cuz I just suck at calculators and DIY and all that jazz).

I like-a my 14-15ish mg. vapes, and have no intention to lower, or quit them.

Same history as me. 18 for years then went to 15. Dont even know why I went to 15.

With juul in US there is only 1 option - 50mg, no lower dosage is available.
That's not correct. Juul also offers 3% (~30 mg).

it's specifically made to get ppl addicted =
No, it's specifically made to reproduce the nicotine hit that an actual cigarette delivers. Most vapes do not. Some people are OK with a slower build-up of nic in the system. I certainly was, but some people aren't.
