I just want to state that the vaping stuff in my home is not mine - I'm holding it for a friend.

That didn't work too well for me in 1976, and I'm guessing...

Never mind. With the levels of stupidity out there today, I think it's an excellent plan! ;)

I wasn't sure where to post this. The BS keeps getting deeper.

Lab distances itself from lawmakers' claim that 84% of vape juices contain illegal drugs

"Two Utah lawmakers want to ban e-cigarettes, in part, because they claim illegal drugs are being smoked through the devices.

The state representatives, Rep. Paul Ray, R-Clearfield, and Rep. Eric Hutchings, R-Kearns, held a press conference Wednesday afternoon to announce their intentions to run legislation on vaping in Utah during the upcoming legislative session.

The representatives cite a study claiming 84% of vape juices in Salt Lake County contain illegal drugs.

“Out of the 12 bottles, 10 tested positive for opioids, PCP, barbiturates, and THC. Roughly 84% of the product tested, tested positive for an illegal drug,” Ray said.

The study cited by the two lawmakers was conducted earlier this year by Beechtree Diagnostics, though lab officials seemed surprised to see their test cited during Wednesday’s press conference.

“This is not to be taken as evidence,” Beechtree Diagnostics President Michael Murano said. “I think [Rep. Ray] didn’t share enough of the testing parameters to truly validate.”

Murano said the test used "point-of-care strips," which are generally used to conduct drug tests on urine. He added that the test is not designed to examine oils like vape juice.

After BeechTree expressed concerns that he was citing their unofficial test, Ray acknowledged the 84% claim may not be accurate.

“I think it raises enough concerns, and it’s backed up by the DEA,” Ray told 2News by phone Wednesday evening.

Ray is correct that the DEA is warning people about illegal drugs being smoked through vape pens.

“We used a presumptive testing method that is not particularly accurate. The accurate test isn’t available now,” Murano said.

Murano indicated that more accurate testing of vape juices needs to be developed, and he hopes that will come through the FDA. He said his company is working on a statement in response to Rep. Ray’s comment about the company’s test.

Somewhere out there
Romney now saying all vaping "devices" should be recalled.

How long before they make the mere act of vaping illegal?
Think it can't happen? They are on a roll.
I saw that, unbelievable. Yet NO one is addressing the fact that you can't vape Vit E oil or any oil. They are all M O R O N S

Not sure if this has been posted before--if so, I apologize. Anyway, got an email from CASAA:

Dear Katherine,

Yesterday, Donald Trump, along with HHS secretary Alex Azaar, announced that the administration would be banning all flavored vapor products from the market. The move is in response to early findings from the National Youth Tobacco Survey (NYTS) that show the number of young people who vape has increased by 25% in 2019 (accompanied by a 28% decline in teen smoking).

The White House needs to hear from adult vapers and anyone who loves a vaper! A flavor ban won’t protect our children, but it will kill their parents.

We need to

On your call:
  • The operator will likely ask where they can direct your call
  • Simply tell them that flavored vapor products saved your life; and,
  • tell them “We Vape, We Vote.
Be polite, be brief, and say thank you.

We know that people are scared and angry and we wish there were some hopeful words that we could offer to make things better, but this is just about as bad as we've seen it. We are facing a total favor ban on a massive, national scale, and such a measure will bolster state and local lawmakers to take similar action. While any enforcement action coming the FDA will likely take weeks or months, cities and states can move faster. We are also constantly facing waves of disinformation from officials who are supposed to be looking out for public health.

In the coming days and weeks, we will be working to provide you with up-to-date information and opportunities to connect with lawmakers. Some of you will probably need to save up for plane and bus tickets--whether your heading to D.C. or your state capitol. Everyone will need to share their stories, especially with people who are curious about switching to vaping instead of continuing to smoke.

But today, lets show the White House just how many people the administration is putting at risk. Light up the phones!

Thank you for Taking Action,
Alex Clark

So I'm sharing. I'm not sure why it's not posted on CASAA subforum...

He did a fantastic job!

2 vs 1 wasn't a fair debate. He looked nervous but not rattled. He did do a fantastic job under those circumstances.

He certainly came out looking a whole lot more knowledgeable than they did. He's always great but that may well have been his best ever performance.
