I posted this in another thread. Reposting as this is applicable here.

I think the vaping ban is a distraction from a larger issue.

Distraction is a common tactic of war with over a millennia of practice. Vapers are a minority right now, the ACTUAL problem is very small in the scope of national, or even state, problems we are currently facing with vaping.

Is youth addiction even the main concern? If this is the true issue there would be a ban of ALL addictive substances our society uses. As we can see, that isn't the case.

I know that the prevalent viewpoint is that politicans, and the ruling class, are unintelligent, but what if they're not? People in power may have created that myth to fool the masses and give those in power MORE power by using underestimation to their benefit. Have you ever underestimated an enemy before, what happened?

Money is one possible cause, and as capitalists we tend to go that route in our thinking here in the USA. What good is money then if our currency has no value? Are we seeing the dawn of a last ditch effort of a dying regime to reestablish control of a failing economic system?

Power is the most addictive drug of them all. Money= Power in our society. What would power addicts do if their drug was slipping away? Are we being played to their tune, are they our pied pipers? Where are we being led?

Take a step back, and get some perspective. What's really going on? Is this a disease, or is it a symptom of a disease? What is the disease, are the measures being taken being used to treat the cancer, or the patient?

These are just a few of my thoughts on how the current situation doesn't make sense. The possibilities are beyond my scope of knowledge to expand on completely. I don't know what's going on, but I do have some suspicions.

It may sound crazy, but in light of what we can all see right now, is it really all that unbelievable?

No need to get a brain fart on what this is about. One word: MONEY. How do the vast number of our policy makers become milionaires while in office? They weren't millionaires before they ran for office. BT and BP contribute heavily to political campaigns and provide financial kickbacks to policy makers. The directors of the CDC and FDA all came from BT and BP. Thats how they keep the monopoly in their corrupt circle of friends. Have you heard of the Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement? Flavors and the Youth Vaping Epidemic were just a smoke screen for big corporations to destroy the vaping industry, and the THC black market crisis was the accelerant needed to legitimize emergency bans by the goverment. This was the Perfect Storm for BT, BP, and corrupt politicians.

Juul CEO resigns.

And replaced with a guy from Altria.

BREAKING NEWS
Juul Labs' chief executive, Kevin Burns, stepped down amid outrage over vaping. He will be replaced by an executive from the tobacco company Altria.

The executive, Kevin Burns, will be replaced by K.C. Croswaite, an executive from Altria, the major tobacco company that owns a 35 percent stake in Juul, the San-Francisco-based company.

Nope no BT in vaping around here.

They're not stupid.

Money does talk. What money? Future savings in HC costs? (Cancer, COPD and transplants are expensive)
BT money?
Tax revenue?
Reduced expenses count the same as revenue.

It's all of the above. But remember BT has declared a smoke-free future. They made a trade, and it was decades ago. Ask Waxman it's probably his plan. It/they WILL reduce youth update of smoking. That's actually a good thing. Reducing youth update of nic...that's OK with BT too, they've diversified. But they don't mind adult use. And they may not (wink) mind the youth stuff too much as long as they own it but they can't admit that, and they don't need it, those same youth may mostly take it up later when of age IF they can make it harmless enough. But they have to own the market.

They're going after the cigs, and throwing us under the bus. Of course they know about the 500,000 deaths per year. Smoke-free future and money/farmers/stockholders to protect.

Anarcho-capitalism is looking better and better.
So we should give more of it over to the big-corporations? I don't understand this. BT has the money/clout to kill the mainstream vape industry 50,000 ways. If you think it's only by "gubment" that's only because it's expedient ATM. There's other ways. Besides A-C still has regulations, in reality. It just pretends it doesn't. ;)

I agree. That is why I blieve we vapers can make an impact in the election. But then I look at the possible opponents for Trump...wow. They're all pretty slim pick'ms. Lesser of two evils once again.

Not having the clout to beat him in a fair election, the Dems are going after his reputation in a slander attack. It's all about the Russians and they can't seem to let go of the one thing they think could bring him down.

Eh, they don't need Russia anymore. Now the Ukraine is in play.

My cravings for nic aren't as strong, but vape-nic doesn't seem last as long so I puff more. It's weird compared to smoking. There's also more...IDK...endorphin effect or whatever...from smoking (if I remember correctly). I think. It's been 9 years since I dual used to compare.

Juul CEO resigns.
He sold out, he needs to be gone. Let JUUL be run by BT out in the open, and known to all as what it is, a Tobacco company product.

Maybe it will be less of a black eye to the rest of the true vaping industry.

It's interesting, though.

Is BT knowingly playing the villain here? And then later a savior by taking Juul off the market (keeping the patents) and then introducing Alto or whatever? They're used to playing on the "bad guy" side of the street.

It was amazing how Juul's tune changed when acquired.

What's the "sell out"? You mean the purchase or the plan? And if plan, think about "What's the impact?" of said sell-out? BT plays the long-term game, and it's more complex, IMO.

That article has no connection to "normal" vapers, IMO. Now that some uninformed teenagers have caused health problems by using substances that are dangerous, the rest of us are suspect.

FDA would be helpful if they outlined the correct way to vape and listed the things that can be dangerous (mostly oil based).

For me, it's been almost 10 years vaping every day. My lungs are clear and I have had no side effects. I exercise with free weights and a Total Gym regularly without breath issues. I ride 18 to 24 miles a week on a stationary bike at home peaking at resistance level 8 of 10. My doctor has approved vaping instead of smoking for those 10 years. I'm wondering if he will become concerned about recent publicity. I'm thinking not. My routine exams include normal findings for my age.
