PAX Labs, makers of some of the most popular premium vaporizers on the market, announced that the company has succeed in acquiring a patent for the company’s E-Cigarette division. The company announced today it has received a U.S. patent for the nicotine salt e-liquid formulation found in its landmark e-cigarette, JUUL.

Unlike other products in the e-liquid space, JUUL uses nicotine salts found in leaf tobacco, rather than free-base nicotine, as its core ingredient. JUUL’s special chemical process and easy-to-use micro-tank vaporizer deliver the right nicotine strength and vapor quality to provide a “uniquely pleasing and consistent experience” for adult smokers according to the company. In the announcement the company also stated, “This patent exemplifies innovation that is occurring in independent vapor technology companies.”

there is a large headship chain in my area,, last week they put up a sign next door opening up their new vape shop. (i had visited them once before and bought my topbox there,, and was wowwed with how much hardware they had... so now its official they have a vape store........ok cool,, chatted with them a bit,, they think the FDA will have to seriously come down off of their high horse.

meantime,, they showed me the JUUL,,, i was 'meh' about it at first,,,,,,then they let me try it............wow,, that is darn near a cig...i asked about refill costs....they snapped it open and there was a tiny juice well that they said they had been refilling with their own,, theirs was heavy vg @ 18mg.. mind you,, i am at 0-2mg now.....i did not get my .... kicked,, i was more surprised at how much it tasted like a cig.

So I'm compiling a list of manufacturers which I'm interested in hearing where they are in the PMTA process. I'm not sure they are aware that they are now tobacco manufacturers. As of right now that list includes but is not limited to:

The makers of micro usbs as I use those to charge my mod.
Dell and Microsoft as I use my computer to update my mod.
Hyundai as it has a USB port which I have used to charge my mod.
AEP power company because I use their electricity to charge my batteries.
NASA because I use the Internet to update my mod. Also due to the fact that NASA is a gov entity the US gov as well.

Per the FDA, all of these are now tobacco companies who produce tobacco products as all of these things are components which enhance the performance of my vaping device.

Of course this is all due to the fact that current regulations are trying to regulate a piece of technology as though it were an organic plant: WE ARENT BURNING ANYTHING AND THE PLANT IS NOWHERE TO BE FOUND!!!!!!!!!!! Good grief, we found something to help us quit it's not our problem that BT or BP didn't invent it!! Sorry 'bout your luck FDA but you don't get to decide even though you deem that you can. I hope a judge throws the freaking book at them.

Thank you to all of you who are writing letters, speaking to folks and driving awareness; we must never stop!!

I don't see the FSPTCA so much being voided.

But I could see the FDA's Interpretation of what it says as they have Extended it to include e-Cigarette Hardware being Changed.

But this is All Very Far down the Road.
I really don't intend to engage in a scholarly discussion of statutory construction and how it relates to administrative law right now. It may boil down to unforeseeable factors, such as how hung over the judge is.

They're exempt by statute. You need to read the statute.

Some people are also just plain nuts. There were two people at a cycling event that refused to meet in a McDonald's parking lot, because there could be "GMO's in the air."

I think because I cycle/run/hike I run into more of the militant health nut type. It's not all by any means, but more than in the general population.
Whenever I see cyclists on a busy road, I always have a secret desire to just let the car drift a bit, until I hear that awful thud, then shake my head and say oh My god! What just happened :lol:

My reply would've been something like "Ok, I'm allergic to you and your existence." then a silent stare.

Or my old reply to the smoking nannies where I work: "don't you have something better to do?"

If it doesn't start somewhere we can complain all we want about the status quo but since we aren't trying to change it then complaining about it is pretty weak and useless.
I voted for Ross Perot, so yeah, I get what you're saying.

Sounds like dead on arrival if the deeming regulations stick, unless they have one heck of a bankroll or Altria wants to buy them out (best possibility). Sounds like the perfect BT product, A closed system that costs $50 and $15 for four pods that are supposedly equal to a pack of cigarettes each. At .7ml per pod, that gizmo better be real efficient.

JUUL has serious Wall Street investors behind it. With a closed system, proprietary connection, and only four flavors at a single nic level, they seem well positioned to give the PMTA process a shot.

I like that one!

Due to another run-in with an anti-vaping bully, my friend and I refer to my e-cig as my "smoking machine." This woman in one of my cycling groups send me a very nasty e-mail (coward much) stating that I should take my smoking machine far away from the group due to it being dangerous. Needless to say no one else in the group was/is bothered by it, and confirmed she's just a bully. But now we call it my smoking machine. I think I'm going to get a steampunk wrap for my pico, because that is what it calls to mind for me.

Honestly, with these deeming regulations, my fear is being ostracized again. I spent enough time having to hide somewhere to smoke, and really don't want to have to go back to that.
