Being Good at opening someone's Head and then operating on their brain Doesn't Necessarily mean that they are Good at understand where the Brain came from. Or how the Elements that make up the Brain were formed.

I like Ben Carson. Seems like a Nice Guy. Just Don't Think I want him Heading Up the HHS. Just like I wouldn't want my Mailman (who is Also a Nice Guy) to Run the HHS.

I'll wait until Trump actually Names a Name though before I get too Involved in Ben Carson's qualifications to Head one of the Most Important Government Agencies on the Planet.

Would like to take a moment to point out that it is entirely possible to believe that evolution can take place on a small scale, and still think that it is somewhat absurd to believe that complex biological systems, with interdependent and necessary biological subsystems, could have possibly evolved from a puddle of amino acids. And furthermore, a person most definitely does not need to ignore science to believe that. But I suppose that's a discussion for another place and time.

Well, in fairness, to become a pediatric neurosurgeon required him to learn an awful lot of chemistry, physics, biology, biochemistry just to get into medical school. Then getting through a pediatric neurosurgical program required tremendous intelligence and commitment. I would expect him to be able to review and interpret scientific data better than the average politically appointed non-scientific/medical nominee. If he can separate his personal beliefs from his public duty to oversee a big chunk of the medical system in the US, he is more than qualified for the task.

Never said that Ben Carson wasn't a Smart Person.

I would just find it Hard for someone (even a Smart Someone) who belongs to something like this...

The Flat Earth Society :: FAQ

... to be the Head of NASA.

Maybe Ben Carson would be a Fantastic candidate for a HHS Secretary? Dunno?

"The surfaces of bodies of water has been shown to be level. If the Earth was a Globe, this would not be the case. There is no visible curvature to the horizon even from airplanes. We don't even have a full shot of the Earth rotating from space!:facepalm:

Well, I guess it would be OK to be a member of the Society if we really did fake the moon landings, right?:lol::lol:

I wired a house for a neurosurgeon and he couldn't figure out how 3 way switches worked even after I explained and drew diagrams. His wife (whom got it right away) eventually told him she would explain it to him later. So........

BTW ...

Report: Trump eyeing Bobby Jindal for possible health secretary post

Just remember that this is the Same Media that predicted that Clinton would win by a Substantial Margin. So take with as many Grains of Salt as deemed necessary.

Well, he does have health policy experience. I don't agree with many of his positions, but he is a bright guy.

Hey, I said never neurosurgeons understand electricity. :D

There really is No clearly defined Role of the VP

True - most common reference is that he's the guy that goes to foreign funerals. :- )

Here, Pence, both a Governor and a Congressman, can be useful in organizing the Executive branch and be a liaison with those (from both parties) that he knows from being one of them.

I agree, that personal beliefs shouldn't matter, but i am concerned whether they will matter with Ben Carson.

The same 'concern' was said about John F. Kennedy's Catholicism. The then media, pretty much dismissed the idea as coming from the ignorant or intolerant (deplorables?)

The analogy is completely invalid and disingenuous, not to mention it's use of emotionally charged and divisive rhetoric.

You aren't addressing my cause for concern in the context i brought up. I did not say at any point that a Seventh Day Adventist is not qualified for political office.

A supposed candidate for a supposedly scientific agency is on record as saying ( guided by his faith !? ) wildly unscientific things about a number of issues. Had JFK expressed the same thoughts about the origin of the earth and of our species, i would be concerned with him heading the DHHS as well, catholic or otherwise.

Nice try though :)

Nice knee-jerk. You said "personal beliefs" and that is the same for Carson or Kennedy or anyone else - but you only questions Carson's  As far as the scientific aspect, the same could apply to almost any religion and for example, the scientific view as to the beginning of life in the womb - something Catholic dogma disagrees with some scientific views. I could go on to other 'anti-scientific' views as well but not worth it when you have someone react in the manner you have. So I'm dropping it. Go on if you must, but without me.

I once diced a scotch bonnet chile pepper and then rubbed my eye with the hand I held the pepper with. I time traveled to the edge of the universe and back before I knew what hit me. It's hard to explain in words. To fully grasp the experience you have to try it yourself
