DOH!!Hey, don't joke. I've got a snakeskin back on my mod so it is a tobacco product.![]()
As long as people keep lighting themselves on fire on YouTube, this was sort of inevitable.‘SEC. 1004. STANDARDS FOR THE MANUFACTURING OF E- LIQUIDS AND PERSONAL ELECTRONIC VA-PORIZERS; COMPLIANCE.
(b) MANUFACTURING STANDARDS.—
(2) PERSONAL ELECTRONIC VAPORIZERS.—
(B) SHORT CIRCUIT PROTECTION.—
A personal electronic vaporizer shall have a mechanism to ensure user and battery safety in the event of a short circuit of the heating element.
So now goes the baby with the bath water and right regulations. Too clever by half. One step forward and two steps back. With one line we have the abolition of open non-regulated vaping…no mechanical vaporizers.
I'd rather they just take their hands out of our pockets.
Extract vaping from tobacco legislation.
Good luck.![]()

And I am not sure I disagree when it comes to mass-market devices.
I do hate to see the end of open systems though.
The battery manufacturers can be held to higher standards. I'm willing to bet that at least some of these e-cig explosions are due to poorly made batteries with little or no QC practices.

Same difference. No, not poor manufacturing. It's the inflated stats. Remember, one guy actually said his batt was a proper one with a 40 amp limit. In that case I think Efest should be held accountable.
Whatever. No it has to do with fundamental physics and that government has to stay out of the way instead of attempting to interfere in this instance to stifle this industry…

I'm certain they've got birds in Congress far smarter than I am who understand the state of the art.
Necessity IS the mother of invention not regulation.
We don't need a new deal. We need repeal.
Good luck.![]()
Whatever.
Congratulations to you. Hope you bought Apple stock in '85 but then had you it is highly unlikely you'd be hanging out on ECF.No worries B, the skin's already leather here. Got a lot of that as a Mac guy. Like when consulted by my CEO on prospects for Apple and I suggested back in '85 that Apple might one day be the premier computer maker in the world (even if a "niche" company). A technologist himself, he laughed. The video features a fellow named Zimmerman. Look him up.
Good luck.![]()

I'm getting the feeling my life would be multitudes better if I listen to you more.I've spent most of my life creating for others. My day trading 62% rate of pos returns was acceptable. Three of my closest friends did quite a bit better as APPL did multiple splits in later years. I did prematurely call the high at 212 per.
Good luck.![]()

I'm way past that. Perhaps you could learn something from me.My upset this morning comes from the disillusionment that follows the hope that those who represent us, whom I'd like to trust, would be more transparent, honest and not so disingenuous.
Thanks for the validation.
Good luck.![]()
I certainly do not advocate the banning of mechs. Quite the contrary. But I do advocate for improving battery safety and standards. I'm not talking only e-cig batteries. And I hate new laws and regulations as much as anyone here. At the same time, I am aware that there are a whole lot of people out there who need to be protected from themselves because fundamentally speaking they are idiots who require idiot-proofing. It's a sad commentary but also true.@Bronze my Grandfather used to say, "You have to nurture the instinct of self preservation."
We need to give up open systems in vaping because batteries are so dangerous (and we are so remarkably dumb), uh-huh…

It would seem then that Congress feels it more important to constrain our risks for us than to first inform the public as to what could be accomplished within present technology or its development.
Given this, it's the last thing I could trust is a law which leaves a framework of authority in the hands of the FDA given what they've done. Or one that subtly and significantly continues to throttle the marketplace of goods and ideas.
Caveat emptor.
Good luck.

Exactly. It's not a significant burden. Our vaping tit is in a wringer because of the bad press (visuals) surrounding exploding e-cigs.I agree.
And I Don't see how a Reasonable Implementation of something like a Fuse in a Mod is a Overt Regulatory Intrusion on a Product that runs off a Battery.
