And I am not sure I disagree when it comes to mass-market devices.
I do hate to see the end of open systems though.
As long as lithium catches fire with the technologies so far provided is not a justification for control of innovation or commerce.
There will always be the stupid and ignorant; and dribble as law won't stop that.

The battery manufacturers can be held to higher standards. I'm willing to bet that at least some of these e-cig explosions are due to poorly made batteries with little or no QC practices.
No, not poor manufacturing. It's the inflated stats. Remember, one guy actually said his batt was a proper one with a 40 amp limit. In that case I think Efest should be held accountable.
No it has to do with fundamental physics and that government has to stay out of the way instead of attempting to interfere in this instance to stifle this industry…

I've spent most of my life creating for others. My day trading 62% rate of pos returns was acceptable. Three of my closest friends did quite a bit better as APPL did multiple splits in later years. I did prematurely call the high at 212 per.

My upset this morning comes from the disillusionment that follows the hope that those who represent us, whom I'd like to trust, would be more transparent, honest and not so disingenuous.

We need to give up open systems in vaping because batteries are so dangerous (and we are so remarkably dumb), uh-huh…

I certainly do not advocate the banning of mechs. Quite the contrary. But I do advocate for improving battery safety and standards. I'm not talking only e-cig batteries. And I hate new laws and regulations as much as anyone here. At the same time, I am aware that there are a whole lot of people out there who need to be protected from themselves because fundamentally speaking they are idiots who require idiot-proofing. And I Don't see how a Reasonable Implementation of something like a Fuse in a Mod is a Overt Regulatory Intrusion on a Product that runs off a Battery.
Exactly. It's not a significant burden. Our vaping tit is in a wringer because of the bad press (visuals) surrounding exploding e-cigs.
