Margaret Hamburg is the person that hired another GSK stooge, Zeller, right? I'd love to see him hauled into court with her.:sneaky:
FDA names new head of tobacco governance group
Yeppers.

"What could make Zeller’s appointment controversial is he currently serves as an executive with Pinney Associates, a pharmaceutical consulting firm that does work for GlaxoSmithKline, the top seller of nicotine-replacement therapy products."

I remember discussing that in the Media/News forum when that happened. :glare:

Zeller said in the AP interview that FDA needs to “come up with a comprehensive nicotine regulatory policy aimed at shifting tobacco users down the continuum from the most harmful to the least harmful."

Well, his Deeming Regs. certainly missed the Mark on that one :glare:

Something Bill G has brought up several times and might be of note to ecig vendors contemplating PMTAs:

"An AP review in December uncovered that the agency had not ruled on thousands of tobacco product applications, a majority of which have lingered for more than a year."

As to conflict of interest - there's much there:

"Brad Rodu, a professor of medicine at the University of Louisville and a smokeless-tobacco advocate, said he is concerned that Zeller’s work with GlaxoSmithKline could create a regulatory bias against manufacturers’ smokeless products.

He urged the FDA to take an open-minded approach to smokeless innovations, “especially when smokers have increasing access to vastly safer alternatives.”

Dr. Gilbert Ross of the American Council on Science and Health, said the FDA should have chosen a candidate with less conflict of interest concerns.

“To clarify, the newly appointed head of the CTP, one of whose main missions should be to objectively evaluate methods for helping smokers quit most effectively, has been in the business of promoting FDA-approved traditional NRT [nicotine replacement therapy] products, while (not surprisingly) he has been in the forefront of opposing consideration of alternative cessation products such as snus and e-cigarettes,” Ross said.

“While the previous CTP head proved to be no friend of newer, more effective tobacco harm reduction approaches, he at least was not a dogged opponent of the policy.”"

This is :offtopic: , but I couldn't help but think of you while watching John Oliver last night...

It's on YT now, about Debt Buyers. He started a debt buying company; hilarity ensues.
His interview with Steven Hawking was hilarious and touching.

(This is from the NYT article linked in my prior post.)

Dr. Califf’s slide show in North Carolina was titled “Disrupting Clinical Research: Transforming a System.” It said the drug and device development system was in crisis, and included a downward-sloping chart that illustrated the number of drugs approved per billion dollars spent on research over time.

“Regulation provides barrier to disruptive innovation,” said the second-to-last slide, called “Disruptive Innovation in Health Care.”

So he is aware of the potential of disruption, but ignores it when convenient?

Georgia State University News - May 9, 2016

http://news.gsu.edu/2016/05/09/e-ci..._medium=email&utm_campaign=ecigarettesrelease

Most smokers who have tried electronic cigarettes have rejected them as less satisfying than regular cigarettes, reducing their potential to be a “disruptive technology” that could help a significant number of smokers to quit, according to a recent study by a team of researchers at the Tobacco Center of Regulatory Science (TCORS) at Georgia State University.

Conclusion:

E-cigarettes, also referred to as Electronic Nicotine Delivery Systems or ENDS, “need to improve as a satisfying alternative or the attractiveness and appeal of regular cigarette must be degraded to increase the potential of ENDS replacing regular cigarettes,” according to lead author Dr. Terry F. Pechacek, professor of Health Management and Policy.

Lol, I didn't see that. But if it's online, it's fair game. Ocelots like to hunt.

ETA: The disclosure from 2010 has a lot more companies listed than the one in 2014. Is it a we didn't ask, so you don't have to tell situation?

Well, a properly Crafted(to fail) Study in which each participant is given either a Placebo or a :censored: first Gen. cig-a-like has a high probability of Satisfying intended results.(likely scenario)

I bet they would have a fit figuring me out. My Battle was won by the time I found ECF and as I registered I was puffing away on my 3rd upgrade to EGO/Clearo tanks.
4 months earlier I had NO Clue E-cigarettes Even existed.

The study I quoted from was about dual use of cigarettes and ecigs. The conclusions are actually in our favor. Better ecigs = more ex-smokers.

ETA: Your story is similar to mine. I was using an eGo and dripping into a 510 atty when I found ECF. Thank you youtube! At the time, I still didn't know what "vaping" meant.

Yup!

"“Dr. Califf’s extensive ties to the pharmaceutical industry give me no reason to believe that he would make the FDA work for ordinary Americans, rather than just the CEOs of pharmaceutical companies,” Sanders said."
