Also I bet 75% rise is FAR less scary than the actual numbers, given that they are NOT RELEASING the actual NUMBERS. Which is not at all unlike the FDA.

I agree with this 100%. I mean if there were only 4 users and it increased to 7 users that is a 75% increase. Ohhh so scary. We all know it was more than 4 users of course but without raw numbers it is impossible to even begin to understand the scale of the issue.

3rd time this week that I've seen this quote:
Robin Koval, chief executive of Truth Initiative, urged fast follow-up to rein in the e-cigarette makers and cautioned against any promises of voluntary action. “There’s no track record for this industry being able to police themselves on a voluntary basis,” she said.

Just like the Deeming itself, media keeps allowing (even causing) conflation of the tobacco industry and e-cigarette industries, when there isn't that much overlap. I know they realize this, and are using it as a weapon. juul, because of it's success, is becoming the bane of vaper's existence.

I love it too that they're fond of quoting numbers of ecig usage without even pretending to look at what that number has done to prevent tobacco usage - either among adults or teens.

I think the only reason they are looking at pods first is the Juul honestly.

Yep 75% sure sounds scarier than an actual number.

Even my husband came in asking and was ready to throw the D word at it (to be fair, it looks democratic) and I just looked at him and said, "Oh no this is your boy, Trump and his appointed lackey Gottleib, do you think they'll be letting meds in soon from other countries?"

As he wandered off, I muttered, "Strive for the facts." Under my breath. But only because I didn't comprehend it. In the middle there he wanted to know, "Um, what does this mean for the Ecig industry?" and I'm afraid I answered, "Why don't you become a user and then you'll want to find out?"

New Years, I think it was that he announced his Great Ecig Decision, what is it now September?

Oh well, he won't be affected.

Just talking about this last night with a few folks…that I haven't watched broadcast television since 1992. Not much truth in it. Or entertainment for that matter. Campaigned informally for the winner that year despite the disingenuous tactics of that Party only to see every liberal value I held dear dishonored within a year. I repeated my error of 1976 to the same result. There is only one political value that matters to me any more and that is the individual.

Good luck. :)
What's sad is parties strongly tend to vote as a block. The GOP does and the Dems even more-so. It's like it doesn't matter who the individual is anymore. Party is what matters. And that is VERY sad.

“However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion.”

― George Washington

What we need is NO parties.

Interesting and ironic that they seem to be heading toward more immediate regulation of pod systems while looking at open systems separately.
Gee, I wonder who else makes 'pod type' systems/devices?..

    So,
In light of the several hazing fatalities in fraternities, and alcohol related driving deaths involving minors , the Government is making Seagram's, Jose Cuervo, Skyy and Anhauser-Bush do something about this underage drinking, or their products with flavors could be pulled from the shelf.

Eventually I see where e-cigarettes could be available by doctor's prescription only.

Didn't that Boat Sail when we argued (Successfully) before Judge Leon that for e-Cigarettes, Nicotine was a "Tobacco Product" and Not a Drug.

And under the FSPTCA, the FDA can't Eliminate the Recreational Use of a Tobacco Product. So the FDA would need to New Legislation to work under.

BTW - Is it Just Me?

Or does there seem to be a Stark Dichotomy when it comes to the way e-Cigarettes are Portrayed in the USA verses someplace like the UK?

    Example:

E-cigarettes can be key weapon against smoking, say MPs

Same e-Cigarettes. Same Smokers. Same Health Benefits/Risks. Same "Kids".

    Different Slant.

    Exactly right, zoiDman.

I could be wrong, but its seems Big Tobacco and Big Pharma does not have the same power influences in the UK as they do in the US. Both have a huge influence on the decisions that the FDA makes which directly affects the vaping industry in the US.

Our current political party system is broken and I'm not sure if there is a way to fix it.

Campaign Finance Reform....break the Oligarchy's back. (AKA kick out the special interests, Repeal Citizens united, etc) They can have a voice, just not monetary clout...

My doctor vapes, so I'm sure he'll give me the required documentation, I just hope he's willing to make my prescription refillable oh, 120 times to cover what I got. Not to mention all the nic and flavors.

The good news is, he's an obliging sort. The bad news is: THE FDA.

I bet they come after me for "E-cig prescription abuse" and like tell me I'm addicted to my setups, or even worse I have become A DEALER.

Oh this is so the suck :(
