I don't know me about Latin roots... But I always thought the best meaning of "anecdote" was "a story you tell."
And many of those antis are just that, story tellers trying to get their "research" to match up etc.

That sounds totally awesome and we should really get some of these anecdotes unpublished.
Sadly, society has moved on from that, like a lot of other Roman things. For example, owning a vomitorium sounds AWFUL.
Unpublishing all those studies sounds great though.

I wish I knew someone that was actually scared of third-hand smoke, I'd totally freak them out by showing how their new furniture was exposing them to formaldehyde.
Or apparently new cat trees... Himself put one together for our “certified pre-owned-cat” that I will pick up when I get home. Instructions say to let it “air out” OUTSIDE for 3-5 days before bringing inside for safety. WTF??? All he had to do was screw it together. Seems like it should come pre ventilated, just saying
