DaveP was talking about vaping like it’s only a way to quit smoking. Even judging it by comparing it with smoking as being the same thing. Yet all the evidence suggests that nicotine, like caffeine is pretty safe for moderate consumption. So why would it be a bad choice to start vaping when it’s also something that can be enjoyed?
I didn't intend for my comments to sound like I thought vaping was only a way to quit smoking or that it was the same thing. Tobacco cigarettes are known to be slow killers. Even though we are fairly sure that vaping is a relatively benign activity, the facts and the history are still being collected and analyzed.
That said, I'll vape for the rest of my life, I suppose. I really enjoy vaping and I really didn't want to quit smoking 9 years ago. Vaping allowed me to quit smoking and still enjoy something that's like smoking but (so far) not a contributor to early death. I don't think that people who aren't addicted to smoking should start a new habit that involves nicotine.
But then, I was urged not to start smoking as a teen, but I had to try it to see what it was like. I continued smoking here and there until it became a daily habit. Vaping was the fix for me after several decades of smoking. I just wish that vaping had started when I was much younger.
