And what should we do for that turd Romney?

njoy seemed well-spoken and message heard. Why wasn't anyone willing to throw juul into the fire? Aren't they like 82% of the teen market?
Trump asked one guy why Juul is in favor of a flavor ban and he didn't hold back. He said the only reason why Juul is in favor of a flavor ban is so it can run out the rest of the vape industry and they can take 90% of the market. Spot on!
The Boss is trying to sweet talk Mitt to make sure he's on board for Impeachment. So he might be more inclined to say yes to whatever Mitt is pushing.
I think Trump would rather kick the crud out of Romney. He'll need to stand in line because there are a lot of us who want to kick the crud out of Romney.

That was Greg Conley. Problem was we had too few voices in the room

All I know is, if Mitt and Don are now buddies over the Vaping Issue, that's just not a real good sign ..

The Boss is trying to sweet talk Mitt to make sure he's on board for Impeachment. So he might be more inclined to say yes to whatever Mitt is pushing.

Might be a clue. Hint: Romneycare.

And the GOP has promised a Healthcare Solution for a long time. All the Dems are running on some form of major overhaul. 2020 is an election year.

Right now I'd give you 50/50 odds that Romney will be involved in it, and major promises (or at least bunch of text) on the GOP-Plan to counter the Dem plan.

And smoking, as well as nicotine use, is a large part of all that.

:2c: and best guess.

Steamrolling toward the deeming regulations without much hope today.

I'm afraid the number of potentially pleased (and misinformed) parents who vote versus angry vapers is bound to be a factor after this drama.

I think most of us knew this game was going to be dirty once children became the weapon.

Some of us vapers think we're some kind of juggernaut. But I think most of us know we're not. The anti-vaping force is much stronger than we are. We vape and we vote. They don't vape and they vote too. And when everyone in DC is against vaping there is no one to vote for if vaping is what one predicates their vote on. Just got to hope Trump doesn't give a damn about voices and money and just does the right thing. A tall order.

Not as pessimistic as ya'll. Remember turd Romney's careful recital on the number of convenience stores selling pods — and his comment that it "was too many"? And remember how keenly Trump keyed in on the number of vape shops?

So I want to modify below to guess that we're headed towards tobacco-only pods in convenience stores and flavored open systems in vape shops. And, for NJoy, I might hope the latter might also include flavored pods.

I think two moments, along with prior advocacy, insured no full flavor ban: Conley on the Bloomberg-funded flavor ban and NJOY's contrast on their admirable record on underage sales versus the record for Juul.

Guessing (maybe hoping...) we're headed towards banning flavored pod systems and leaving open systems in the vape shops

Edit/additional prognostications:
- minimum age raised to 21
- limit to behind counter access
- limit on quantities/bulk sales
- increased consequence on underage sale
- crack down on counterfeit product e.g. flavored Juuls

Let me put it this way. If it's business as usual in Washington DC, we're finished.

WAIT! (BTW I was at work during this and at one point helping a mommy of two 3 year old twins "get through" their vaccination experience and I AM GLAD I WAS THERE. As well as stocked up.)

I am SORRY but there is this separation of church and state thing and Romney is MORMON. Someone whose religion will not allow the imbibing of COFFEE has NO BUSINESS in a vape advocate meeting, let alone ANY meeting on DRUGS EVER.

I hate that dude so much. I really do.

But yeah, Mormons are not so bad, they're really friendly! AND of course they are, as they hide their polygamy from the masses. Being outwardly lovely to disguise inner evil is like the WORST. I hope there's a circle in hell for that.

I get it's a personal thing, but there should be places (in government) IMHO where If you truly, deeply and genuinely HOLD a religious principle to be true they should be PROHIBITED from participating. And yes, I hold that to be true as far as like, Catholics and abortion. Sorry. YOU don't believe in it, I get it, and I think in that CASE you should NOT have one. That's cool with me. Just don't force your principles on everyone else, sideways. F OFF with that. I say those religions who decide to attend such matters should be taken out of the meeting for a brief pebbling. Course, that's just me.

BUT as far as a demo of PURE idiocy when it comes to drugs, my husband spent all day helping a pal of his who had been told he was getting a MMJ card and weaned off his opiates, well of course he did not get the card. Not until buying like, some cheap stuff from the skeezy person and then reading up on how "inhaling MJ" was good so he combined it with his NEBULIZER. Which has ALBUTEROL in it. He used it for a good long period before calling 911. Twice. Twice, he was hospitalized. For the heart stuff.

Then, he called the husband who got him a rush MMJ card (he spent all day doing this and I am NOT mad about the house) took him to some dispensaries, showed him how it worked, BEGGED him to PLEASE not use the stuff off the street OR the nebulizer. Dispensaries here give you freebies when you start the dude had enough for a MONTH and was complaining about the cost. I am sure the potency was THROUGH the roof and also not cut with pesticides and god knows what else.

Sweetest guy, elderly military PTSD burnout. He has not had an easy life, but for SURE, if deeming happens a lot of UNINFORMED vapers gonna DIE. Or keep smoking if it's taxed high enough.

It's dispiriting. The day the feds legalize MMJ I will roll in my GRAVE I suspect. The only reason they tolerate it is due to Federal dollars excluding most of the high paying, licensed professions. They are NOT going to PAY you money to spend on weed EVER or not SOON (JMHO as always.)

It sucks for my kid he wanted to be a nurse and he would have been good at it.

I don't know this for a fact, but I am pretty certain that politicians and most of their agencies don't pee in a cup prior to swearing in. I would kind of stake my life on it.

I believe the who concept of roofie-ing to be evil and wrong but I would so roofie Romney with Salvia. If he had a good time, then just a ton of acid.

I like to hope he would live the life (I have heard of people living whole life times on Salvia which made me go NO WAY.) I would hope he lived the life of a peasant serf in Medieval times (the actual time OR the restaurant.)

I mean. I guess nutmeg cookies? They are not prohibited by the book of Mormon.

I have wandered, I apologize. One thing that Trump has in his arsenal is a good BS detector.. I don't know if it's Romney's enthusiastic agreement that tips him off. He hides it well, but that is a man who can smell a bull in heat many, many miles away. SO I still have SOME hope.

Glad I did not view. Sigh.

I haven't given up hope. Trump seems to understand that a flavor ban will create a large back market, close down thousands of small businesses, and cost thousands of jobs.

In apparent shift, Trump warns about dangers of banning flavored e-cigarettes
Yeah, listening to the part of the meeting I was able to hear today, someone definitely got to him about a potential black market. Whether or not that sentiment prevails, we will see.

What concerned me was, will there be a crackdown on DIY in order to prevent such a black market, but he seemed more preoccupied with black market liquids coming in from Mexico, which he cited as an example once or twice.

IFTFY

But the Outcome might not be Changed.

I watched that Travesty of a Meeting. And it was All I could do to Not Put my Fist thru My Monitor.

But I also have Not given up Hope. Because I think Trump saw thu much of the Hype and Rhetoric. Maybe Not all of it. But a lot of it.

Pushing for T21 is also a way for him to Step Back from the Ledge.

Cool. So now in May, BT can sell FLAVORED pods too. Everyone else will be out of business....
Groan.

I guess we can hope he'll deal with The Deeming too. After all, hope springs eternal...until it's crushed under the inevitable jackboot of the corporate takeover process, with the help of our supposed "representatives".

Listening to Greg Conley's statements above (admit I didn't see the whole thing, I was out running errands), and I know Conley is fighting for the industry, but I heard him say something towards the effect of "stop bulk sales". I think that could be our nic concentrate for diy going away...

We all knew the day would come.

I took it as to mean Stopping a person from say being able buying 1,000 Empty Pods. As a way to Combat Black Market Sales.

Yeah... More Waiting.

This sure as Hell wasn't the Day I had Hoped we would have. I mean I wasn't Expecting Miracles. But this was a New Low in the War on Vaping.

Paul Blair thinks that nothing will happen right away except raising the purchase age to 21.

"If there is an immediate action, I believe it will be an endorsement of T21 and encouragement that Congress pass it ASAP. Beyond that, I doubt there will be significant guidance soon."
