Do we have any info on how this tax would operate? I know nic is used in the manufacture of cigarettes and I assume they will find a way of letting cig manufacturers buy nic without the tax. Maybe there would be an exemption for industrial use. Maybe that would also apply to juice manufacturers, it would be hard for them to craft an exemption that only favored cig manufacturers without looking creepy.

Agree, but they couldn’t care less if it looks creepy. They never have before. They have an arsenal of “But, but, buts” they can break out at any time.

 They have lost their minds...

Haven't you Heard? It's that New Progressive Thinking everyone is talking about. It's all the Rage.

Big Spending. And, of course, Bigger Taxation. Building a Better Tomorrow by going into More Debt Today!

And who really gives a :censored: about 2nd Class Citizens like Smokers. Or their even lower form, Vapers.

It's a manufactures tax for any nic sold to consumers for consumption. Including synthetic nicotine. Big Pharma nic is exempt.

But, it is for the greater good and for the protection of the children. Both are worthy goals.

I can't think of anyone that wants vape products in the hands of kids but what I want to know is far simpler.

Why is a 21 age and mandatory card with high penalties for failing good enough for cigarettes and booze but NOT good enough for vape?

For that matter why do we have chocolate vodka and no one is going after that but we cannot have flavored vapes? Still under mandatory carding no less. I don't see booze manufacturers having to prove their public good is stronger than the appeal to kids.

The double standards are absolutely absurd!

Absurd lawmakers tend to have absurd standards.

How dare you point to the poignantly obvious?

Good luck. ;)

Yes, it is the new Progressive thinking and I, for one am thrilled. FINALLY money is going towards social issues instead of just politicians pockets and forever wars. Most people I know couldn't give a crap about the deficit but do have plenty of real world, middle class worries such as child care, universal health care and other such problems that have been ignored forever it seems. The rich need to be taxed at a much higher rate, when you have cases like Mr.Jeff Bezos profiting so much during the pandemic that he can now afford to give every Amazon employee 100k and still have just as much as he had before the pandemic. Our schools, our infrastructure, our energy dependency on big oil are all problems that will only be addressed by raising taxes. Give us a NEW New Deal say I. Or else my generation will rarely ever achieve home ownership, retirement or true independence. Its funny how people dont complain at the TRILLIONS we spend on forever wars, no never. Quick, give Boeing ANOTHER government contract. But when it comes to actually helping society, as most advanced first world countries now do, everyone and their mother start yelling about taxes and deficits. Did you guys know that we are the ONLY first world country that doesn't provide Healthcare to its citizens as a right ? Or that we pay, on average 10x to 100x more than other nations for the same drugs and treatments? Because BIG GOVERNMENT has a deal with big pharma that they can charge whatever they please for a drug and the US will pay it, no questions asked. Seems to me theres plenty of money to be had, its just in all the wrong hands. Ban big oil, invest in renewable energy and fix our schools before we fall behind every other decent country on earth. Ban lobbyists, ban dark money political donors. How can a politician retain interest in the problems of their constituents when Big this and that is slipping them big money. The answer is, they don't. They only care about the donors and reelection so they can spend another 4 years getting rich of our tormentors. I'll do anything to make sure that progressive policies are not only enacted, but expanded once and again....

I could reply to this at length, but this is not the place for political rants. Take it OUTSIDE.
