Did I read correctly 100,000,000 USD FDA funding for a new tobacco product...

What the hell @WorksForMe, obviously the powers that be don't really care in any aspect including even the funding as it's not their money and they'll be financially benefiting from it.
Yeah you read it right. That's for a zero nicotine cigarette. They're convinced that if they take out the nicotine everybody will just quit.

Just saw a segment on BBC World News about vaping in the UK. A Gov representative said they consider vaping to be an important piece of their strategy to help people get off smoking but they are concerned about the level of vaping among kids, which did appear to be rather high in terms of the % of teens who are regular vapers. We've seen teen vaping numbers in the US and they were mostly bogus. The segment I saw didn't provide any details on how the UK numbers were put together.

One brilliant strategy they are considering to address this dilemma is raising the cost of vapes to price out the kids. More tax money, hmm.
Ive noticed teenagers drawn more to the little pod or salt nic vapes. I've only ever seen one 18 yo dude with a full on sub ohm mod over the years. I really dont like those little disposables, I think they have too much nicotine and with a good flavor it's too easy to chain vape. They're horrible for the environment too. The batteries, all that plastic waste. I remember when all of the kids at the park used to smoke cigarettes though, now it's just replaced with vapes. So the number of teen vapers didn't really increase, it's just cause they stopped smoking cigarettes when vapes became more available. If vapes were around when I was in highschool I wouldn't have been smoking cigarettes.

More likely people would just chain smoke and find little to no relief. I guess eventually people would slow down? I don't see anyone buying it though. That's kinda like giving an alcoholic non alcoholic beer to stop drinking.

“Vapes contain more than 200 chemicals that do not belong in the lungs. Some of the same chemicals you will find in nail polish remover and weed killer,” Butler said.
It would be interesting to get a list of what the 200 different substances are, and I would assume that most of the things on the so-called list exist around us, but it seems a little more dramatic to say that they do not belong in the lungs.

When it comes to illegal sales, we are all supporters of sales being under controlled conditions.

That quote means nothing without knowing what the chemicals are and how much there is of each one. Weed killer has some water in it, and so does ice tea. Does that mean you shouldn't drink ice tea, because it has some of the same chemicals as weed killer?

It's clearly not meant to be easy.
It's a strange world we live in, they beat the drum when it comes to nicotine, but alcohol, sweets, chips are out of place to touch.
Soon they will legalize crack lol, with us they talk about if you are addicted you should get the doses from the pharmacy.

The WHO, WEF, and most overbearing billionaires, healthcare organizations and governments are a pain in the .....

There is less and less freedom and liberty as time goes on.
Yeah - politicians don't come cheap these days so big money gets to set the rules. What's good for billionaires and corporations isn't generally good for us plebs.

Well, I guess we knew it would happen eventually. The FDA is now coming after open-system ecig hardware that most of us use. Until yesterday I don't remember hearing much about the status of PMTAs for hardware. On January 16, 2024 the FDA rejected the PMTAs for 22 SMOK vaping products. More MDOs are probably coming soon.

"On Jan. 16, FDA issued marketing denial orders (MDOs) to Shenzhen IVPS Technology Co., Ltd for 22 SMOK brand e-cigarette products. The denied products include devices, pods, atomizers, and cartridges, which are part of an e-cigarette system marketed without an e-liquid. The company must not market or distribute these products in the United States or they risk FDA enforcement action."

"The denied SMOK e-cigarette products are not sold with an e-liquid. A consumer instead adds their separately purchased e-liquid into the device. Therefore, these SMOK products have the potential to be used with any e-liquid on the market and available to the consumer, which could include tobacco-flavored and non-tobacco flavored e-liquids. According to the 2023 National Youth Tobacco Survey (NYTS), SMOK was the sixth most commonly reported brand among current youth e-cigarette users, with 11.3% of middle and high school students reporting past 30-day use of SMOK products."

Time to buy some altoids stock.
DIY'ing a mod is pretty easy. E.g. 3/4" ID pipe will happily hold an 18650. Want it conductive? Use copper. Want it non-conductive? Use PVC.

DYI'ing atties and 510 connectors is much more difficult. At the very least, everyone should have a 510 thread (M7 x 0.5) tap & die set.

"Package your hardware with eliquid or else your product is gonna be illegal. Because it's iffy for us to regulate it as a "tobacco product" otherwise."

Just playing the usual govt tricks (with kids thrown in for good measure) so that they can defend and justify calling hardware "tobacco". Pretty obvious to me. They got nothing but power.
