we all got sidetracked with the leaks .

when we add anything from ptb to strands of wick and place it by the slit area it fixes that whole wicking issue, including the over wicking and underwicking, it also stops the leak in the base becuse it centers it and keeps it in place, so we know this thing can work properly.

Now that we know the actual system is fine, the tank hold the juice it goes up the wick hits the coil and bam we got magic but there must be a reason these mods fix the issue we had.

so my guestimate is that its the wick and with the right wick we wont need to mod anything.

even at 3.7 the 2.5 ohm e2 is perfect with the mod.( perfect for me cause i like warm vapor)

hmm so this is silica rope, ok is this what we need scottbee, if so ill order 3 types of the braided one to see which is best.

only one is 99% silica the others not sure and not all have the same temp resistance, so this is really confusing to me..

this company also has silica rope and in the pdf catalog they have the sizes we need http://www.firesleeveandtape.com/silica-high-temperature-rope.html

Let me rephrase, I'm sitting at work, I'm an idiot and was running late this morning and only have my one carto with me. It's tasting burnt and needs a quick clean out...safe to dry burn it with the PTB?

GC I rinsed and dry burned mine without any problems. You should be fine.

I'm sure glad that all of the E2's being used by my family members work well without having to modify the wick. They don't leak any to speak of and there is no dry taste until the reservoir is near empty.

It turns out the ones I gave my friend work now; he put the filler ring back in and seated it properly, so far so good. He also got a box of 2.5 ohms from COV.

Mine are wicking so/so, if this continues I may try the PTB mod. Just need to get my lazy ... to the grocery store.

'bad', have you had a chance to try the PTB mod w/o cutting the wick like 'banjo' for comparison?

You should be careful about what materials you add that close to the cup. These coils do get hot and some materials (i.e. blue foam) probably can't handle that heat very well.

I keep meaning to mention this but keep getting side tracked. Thank you for mentioning it.

Funny how people are thinking of buying wicking material when the carto comes with more than enough wick allready.

Why not just loop the excess end of the wick material over the wick where it exits the slots in the cup? Best to do this on a non-filled carto to keep e-Juice from getting everywhere.

Because I'm too lazy to fiddle with and find the wick and blah blah. I had PTB's sitting around, took all of 30 secs to stuff it down the sides. BTW thanks guys, dry burning without removing the PTB worked just fine, took a little longer but least I didn't have to mess with it. Nom nom, marshmallow tastes so great now :D

...

LOL I hear ya.

Now if we could just get RS / MiT to buy Lipton Corp. (who I think is owned by Pepsi) we would be in business.

I pulled the wick up slightly on either side, twisted it and pushed it into the slots. Then I took the filler cap, cut notches in it at a 90 degree from the filler holes and lined the notches up on the wick slots when I reinserted it. Vapes great, and no leaking so far.

How do the results compare to the other mod you did, I think it was taking an extra wick and wrapping around the cup?
