You don't happen to be one of those who tell everybody to buy at least one set of reference speakers to try out are you? I swear reference speakers should be used by everybody.

8,
don't take this wrong, but you live in charleston. I did too. They didn't just want to know who my daddy was, but wanted to know who my grandaddy and great grandaddy were  you know how it can be there I remember when they started making downtown look like hollywood's version of charleston, I knew back then it was time to leave. A Ralph Lauren store was built I heard. yikes. when I lived there is was a sleepy southern town steeped in history, but not trendy yet

In arkansas, people don't put on airs....it's sort of out of character for this region.

but I see where you are going, and yes, I've seen it among the "vapefamous" on youtube and on forums.....

I'm probably several decades older than you (just a hunch) and I really don't care what people think about what I do or how I do it..(one of the very few "blessings" of reaching a senior age I think? )

I think curious people who like electronics and gadgets are going to spend $$ intially as it really is fascinating, some of this stuff, I did that for a while, too. Mostly I learned a LOT from playing around with so many PVs n' stuff.

Now, like evil zoe, I am settled down to 2 devices and a few toppers I like. And of course, my trusty beloved PILA charger. :)

Getting off the forums, you'd be surpised how many people are walking around with non VV ego batts, and have quit cigs, and don't see any reason to change to other mods. I run into them all over the place. LOTS of them. I guess we are just not very cool cats down here in AR  We like practical stuff that doesn't cost a lot but works. People don't tend to throw money around in these regions, the depression hit hard here, and people have been traditionallly poor.

Snobbishness exists in a lot of things and places, like Real Housewives and Beverly Hills, respectively. Plenty here too, but it is tame in comparison. As a hopelessly married man I am at times forced to watch that show. They have real fights, not virtual ones. Must admit a guilty pleasure in trying to judge just how large a volume of air can be contained in their heads each week. Husbands too, no worse than the women.

....I tried to find a pic of a cat sitting on the toilet while reading Mein Kamf to represent the sad truth of some of your salient points in your post. Seems GoogleImages isn't keeping up with education via random web threads....;)

And just who you callin' a weirdo anyway, I got a problem wiff dat.....:D

Would you be interested in forming a comedy team? That is hilarious!

Well O.L. I'm flattered that you consider me to be your comedic equal. :D I'd be happy to embark on such a partnership. Of course I'd want top billing, dibs on the best backstage dressing room, and I'd definitely need my own vaping lounge on the tour bus. What do ya say to a 70/30 split on all profits? Of course you'd cover all our booking agent's fees out of your 30%... And oh yeah, I refuse to open for Tater Salad....

Late to the party here, but here's my take:
I spent years around smokers, militant non-smokers, and a couple of ex-smokers who were the absolute worst people in the world when it came to informing everybody, every time, how much they hated cigarettes. I promised myself when I quit, I wouldn't be "that guy". Some of my friends smoke, most don't. Very few of them even know I quit. I haven't made a public announcement, shouting it to the world on Failbook. I told my fencing teachers, and a couple of my training buddies. If those friends that do still smoke are interested, they'll ask, but it's not my place to approach them and say "you should do X" when it comes to anything but hitting other people with a sword. They'll make the choice on their own.

I've found when my friends are exiled to the social pariah section to smoke, I'd still rather go with them instead of treating them like the rest of the world does.

It's the "brand loyalty/pride" that can be quite amusing and somewhat off-putting at times IMO.

I get it, I guess... this sort of thing exists in every consumer product type.

But hey, Innokin Army people, lemme fix that banner for you!

BUTTERS! There you are! You're grounded, mister!

Good to see a reply from the hilarious Butters. Miss ya, bro!

We all cheer each other on when someone goes analogue free....leaving the smokers group to join the vapers group. Why? We all have our reasons to not smoke cigs. Health, bad smell & taste, for our families, money(last reason noted because I spend just as much on vaping:laugh:), etc. To people still smoking I could see where vapers come off as holier than thou...we've grown beyond smoking, left it behind. I wouldn't want to go back. Sure, I believe I'm in a better place than when I smoked, but I don't put down smokers. Just wish they seized the opportunity available to them for a much better option than tobacco. :vapor:

Realistically the media will choose the more sensationalized story.

If you gave them three people that vaped. Two of them that were respectful and not acting like the hind end of a donkey. The other one that was all about blowing clouds and getting in your face, belligerent obnoxious know-it-all. Who do you think they will spotlight in the story?

Yep, sensationalism sells.

Most people here are the normal people that are just trying to get through life. They've found a device that for the first time they have managed to stop smoking. Whatever the device is, we've developed a love for because it did what nothing managed to do before it was discovered. In our sincere gratitude and awe, sometimes there are those that come off as being elitist. We just wish everyone felt and was able to find the same relief we do/did.

The majority are not elitist. Yes there are a few and you will find them everywhere and not just with e-cigs. If there weren't any, how would we entertain ourselves otherwise??? ;)

Before you read DISCLAIMER I am not downing, degrading, or stirring the pot. Merely making an observation...some vapers do seem to put off an air of superiority in comments and irl, I see it a lot with media related stories, I understand we dont want to be lumped in with tobacco users but must we correct each and every time a somewhat incorrect term is used, or something isnt phrased right? It does impo send off a bit of a whiny 14 year old trying to argue semantics with their parents kind of impression. I also notice a lot vapers at least locally in my area with a holier than thou attitude towards smokers as well which is widespread enough I catch crap at work (be it friendly crap) about how my "group" of smokers act. I just dont think some of these lines of thinking or attitude is productive to our collective clause. We really dont need to come off as a snobbish or elite club...just my two cents...dont try to atomise me please.

sent from the s4 of DOOOM

im diggin the "dont atomise me"! thats good stuff right there.

but as far as what you are referring to - the elitist thing - i find that to be present in all areas of life, not just vaping. and i dont think its going anywhere any time soon, unfortunately. its pretty much hard-wired into our brains. how we chose to display it, well thats up to the individual. basically, its a survival mechanism deep rooted in our minds. it stems from a natural self-preservation tendency that we all have. albeit its a distorted way of preserving ourselves this day-and-age, but many natural things have become distorted in our modern society. all we can do is rise above.

I was having a long distance conversation on the phone with my son last night discussing my new found love…vaping. He went on to tell me about a college kid at one of his meetings that just thought he was so cool vaping on a stainless thing with a glass top. And he uses all these flavored liquids. What a dork.
Uh…honey, you're mother's a dork too!
