I didnt understand well my friend loaded, sorry
I have an idea, not sure if you could do it.
If you have a number set, for example 1000 GGTS, take orders until you reach 1000, then they go to production.
If 1000 take 2 months to produce the wait time would be: Once goal of 1000 is met +2 months.
A counter showing how many have been ordered could be used by you and customers. People wanting to be 100% sure they get one would order right at the beginning. People who need to save a bit more or don't want their funds tied up as long could risk it and try to get in on tail end of batch.
For each item offered you could list the Magic Number for production to begin and the length of time production takes. I don't know the demand for the differrent items or the quantity where a price break occurs but I'm sure you could figure both out pretty easily.
It wouldn't take much communication on your end after it starts, as long as the production time numbers are solid and the order numbers are kept up to date everybody could see at a glance where things stand.

sure clavit. Preorders of a product will include spares too. So if I start making GGTS you can ask for more caps or more telescopes, more CTs etc.
I like the preorder idea for the complete GGTS/Ody/Penny and so on.
Will we also have to preorder spares?
Not all of us are collectors that have multiples of everything. I only have the GG products that i use, so if something breaks or gets lost i would hate having to wait several months for a preorder of buttons/ceramics/whatever.

Hi Imeo,

As a newbie to GGTS - I have struggled to get on a pre-order and did manage to achieve this last time around. I think that this is a great way forward for prospective GG owners and once you have worked out how to manage the pre-orders - it is going to be a far, far better system than what is happening at present. Good luck with the idea and if it means I and many others can get access to GG sales easier - then it is bound to be a success, plus it proves you are listening to your customers. Not that I ever doubted you were listening to us already - but there are so many genuine frustrated prospective GG owners out there, that you are bound to have made them all happy with this announcement !!

Regards,

Richard

I think this is a good idea. You should set a specific time of year that you produce specific products. Then customers will know when they will be produced and can put there order in for the items wanted, with the resellers. Reseller would let you know the amount needed a couple of weeks before you start production, would have to put a cut off time on it.. if a customer misses the dead line they will have to wait for the next run. Customers could order with the reseller but numbers wouldn't come to you until acouple of weeks before a production run.

I know the time to produce a specific amount can change the eta so set production times would be approxamate but once you know the numbers needed you would be able to tell us how long until it is done. and when next item will start production.

example:

ssggts -- January 1st -- 2,000 units--- 2.5 months-- ???break play with new ideas????
oddy -- April 1st -- 2000 units -- 2.5 months
penelope --July 1st--2000 units

 Just a thought:blush:

maybe just make 1000 of ggts do pre order on the 1000 and when gone will have to wait until the next run of 1000 same for ody, ect...

Imeo, I live this ideal. I took my ggts Ody with ts base to our local vape meet and many got to try it and all fell in love with the combination of your work together but all said the same thing.. " gg device's are very hard to come by so unless I want to buy used for more then new I'll never have one". I know your creations are loved by many with many more waiting for the chance to own one. With that said I would love to be able to get another ufs and if you still planned to make the ufs to 510 part I'd take a few of the ufs and adaptor unit's to be able to use them on my at work mod that gets beat up badly.

Imeo, I had a similar question, would their be a set amount of time the pre-order is open for? I have had similar problems trying to pick up a GGTS and this change in policy could fix my issue. I travel a lot and spend a lot of time with out electronics due to the nature of my work which means I stock up on Juice, Atty's and batteries before I leave and my re-order if I get computer access. I seem to travel EVERY time GGTS's come to COV (last 4 runs) and find out that I missed the run...I am afraid this run will be missed too, and it will be months before the next batch. So, I do like this idea, just curious when it will start. I hope to land a GGTS and Oddy sometime...I have worn the anodizing off my REO.

i step away for a few days and miss all of the excitement!:)

i have said it before i love pre orders , pay now and it shows up when ready , no stress, no stalking the forums and vender sites, no mad dash to buy and most of all no disappointment. ( oh and most importantly some real volume #'s for imeo to work with)

i read all postes here quickly , i hope i missed it saying here somewhere that this pre order idea will be for ALL gg products not just the ts, sorry if i missed it.

i missed out on the proteus number reservation preorder thing and boy was i bummed :(

if the preorder happens for all devices its click pay and forget.

i defiantly know someone said in this thread those that are serious will pay and wait. i agree completely.

I think this is a good idea. You should set a specific time of year that you produce specific products. Then customers will know when they will be produced and can put there order in for the items wanted, with the resellers.

I guess the basic problem is that you cannot forsee when a product will be finally finished. So a plan like this would give additional force towards Imeo. Just let it flow - do one list, when you can forsee that one list will be finally produced in one or two weeks start the next one and so on...

I was afraid that might happen. Rather than taking pre-orders for a certain length of time (1 week), take them for a certain number of orders (1000 GGTS in my example). When 1000 are ordered that batch goes to production and a new pre-order starts for the next batch.

1000 units is just a number I pulled out of the air. I don't know what number would be most manageable for you. If you took orders for a week and 25,000 were ordered would you be able to handle it? Would the machinist? The raw material supplier? The first couple of batches might sell out very quickly, but I'd rather be waiting for the batch I'm in on to sell out rather then see you get overwhelmed by demand thats greater than you expect. I think the inital orders will be about like the current pre-orders and go very quickly, but putting limits on them will protect you.

This is a great way to curb the second hand "professional" classified re-seller as well.

What happens on the classifieds is so predictable it's not even funny. New GGTS pre-order announced, all of a sudden there are tons of older GGTS for sale on the classifieds people clear out stock so they can buy a bunch of the new ones and re-sell them again.

It really irritates me on a base level. Imeo provides a beautiful product at a fraction of the cost he could sell it for...and someone else takes the profit.

Edit: This is not directed at people using the classifieds. I get that some people are looking for something else, their tastes have changed or they just need to sell. I've purchased and traded stuff on the classifieds and I'm glad we have them. My remarks are only for the people that purposefully buy up stock for the sole purpose of trying to double their money.

No - but it IS clear that there are some that suck up a few and mark them up 100% or more.... so yes, it would help. Those that want to try and sell I understand. Those that buy specifically to flip are usually those that will buy up a ton off the distros.

I hope this plan is running soon cause I was, am dreaming of an SS GGTS.. while waiting for Proteus. :p
I don't mind to pay now and get it when it is ready. No more stalking websites.. No more stress and dissapointment. Way to go Imeo!

I'm guessing this plan happens on Imeo's next scheduled run of GGTS as he has mentioned other projects in the works and on the calendar unless of course he changes things up a bit. Regardless, good news it seems for all fans of all things GG......:toast:
