I fixed my TV issue by dumping local cable years ago for DirecTV then dumping DirecTV for Roku and Netflix and such. That was on DSL. No HDTV but I had small TVs anyway.

Now I fixed it even better: no cable, no Netflix (cancelled because new shows like Big Mouth are horrifying), no satellite. I don’t watch TV! And I’m happier overall. ;)

Around $60/month for cable internet plus phone. An old ATT handset plugged into the phone if I ever need a landline in an emergency. The ringer is off. :)

I still have the Roku and Hulu for the rare shows I do like, mostly cooking shows. I can watch when I want. And rent movies sometimes.

Lately I get movies on DVD from the library. It’s free and Hollywood gets no more of my money.

Usually, I read. :)

Predictions are that 2018 will see the largest number of people ever cancelling cable. Cut that cord!

I've never heard of Big Mouth. I have no idea what it is even about. I don't have Roku, but I do have Netflix. I stopped my satellite service several years ago. The price started out okay, but then it just kept going up and up. I finally said to heck with it, and I cut it off. I had the second from the bottom tier, and it was up to a hundred bucks a month. So they upped the price one time too many, and I got fed up with them. Netflix just raised prices too. They say it is to get new shows, but so far I haven't been too impressed. I still hate their new rating system. Since they changed it I have suffered through an awful lot of mediocre at best shows because of their new rating system.

Bronze, I am nothing special and downright boring. Hackers have even hacked smart toilets, if you can imagine that. They do it because they can. I don't want a smart appliance, smart meter, smart car...none of that stuff. It is more trouble than it is worth. Smart=hack, in my opinion. I am a private person. I don't want my privacy invaded. My house is supposed to be a place you feel rested and safe. I guess I'm not alone. Not many people desire glass houses around here.

I miss the days of cash when my purchases were not tracked. We do our best, but privacy is a thing of the past. As for hacking, if you have computing power hooked to the internet, they hack just to harness it. Ever hear of a little thing callled Bitcoin? They hack computers to create a network that mines for it.

Websites are under threat by bitcoin hacks. Your site server gets used. And anyone who visits your site gets the backdoor dropped in so their computer becomes part of the mining effort. Hi, ho! Hi, ho! Like the Disney dwarves. Indeed.

And bitcoin is not a good thing. Just sayin.

Good Morning Army. This medication is making me sleep might and day. I'll probably be asleep again in a couple of hours. And even when I am up, I feel drained.

I'd hate myself too if I watched those "the man is always evil" channels.

My husband calls those the "how to kill your husband and get away with it channels" - and he doesn't allow them.. hahaha..

Mamaw is addicted to TV. She can even sleep with it on. As long as she does so in another room, fine by me. NFL and Action Flicks are pretty much all I watch. I have Netflix, but there were only three TV series I could watch - NCIS, Blacklist and Supernatural. Not much for boring, semi-drama or canned laughter.

LA- I could totally cut the cable cord. I rarely watch TV. But DH? Nope. If he's home, it's on.

Sounds like somebody I know....

Have a Safe and Blessed Day :)

Morning, General.

We had a DSL line through AT&T (may they rot) at our previous house. The new (to us) house has no land line service (phone or internet) at all, so we just use our cellular data through our phones. We ditched AT&T (may they rot), and got T-Mobile service for the phones. Our internet is much, much faster through T-Mobile's cellular data than our AT&T (may they rot) DSL service was.

It just goes to show how much the AT&T (may they rot) DSL service sucked. The DSL line had plenty of bandwidth capacity, but AT&T (may they rot) throttled it down so much that it just crawled.

I know that for a fact because I complained about it and they wanted to sell me an "upgrade" that would increase the speed.

Lori I don't have Bit coins. I have heard of them though. I have heard of the IOT botnet zombies. I am going to watch the new Black Mirror show with the robot dogs. Now THAT is going to be interesting for me to watch.

Papaw, I like Blacklist too. I love The Walking Dead, but I'm all caught up. I saw the last series of Longmire. The first 2-3 episodes didn't peak my interest. Later I picked it up again, and really liked it. I saw Black Mirror before Netflix took it over. I don't remember where I was when I temporarily stopped watching it. Some of those shows were great, and some were just okay. Each episode was a totally different subject. It wasn't a continuing drama like many shows I watch.

There is very little internet competition here, and it does stink. Those in Asia have faster times than we do, and there is no excuse for that. Pappy I agree with what you said.

Screw that! Professional ripoff operations. We need more competition.

Remember when long distance was crazy expensive and phone companies made their $$$ with that? I feel like data is the new “long distance” money machine. I agree with @kkay59 - there is NO reason for any of it. Not the outrageous cost and not the low quality. :sneaky:

Maybe. Possibly. Thinking it over. Just the mod, not the atomizer.

Eleaf Invoke with ELLO T - Eleaf electronic cigarette

But why do I feel like I am going backwards to get newer technology ? I think Eleaf is actually owned by Joyetech (or Janty, who knows anymore ?)

Is it safe to assume that Pappy doesn't care too much for AT&T ?

LOL. Very perceptive.

I was a loyal AT&T (.......s) customer for 30 years. Home phone, cell phones for entire family, and DSL service. For 30 years, we paid them in full every month exactly on time. When we found they didn't have any decent coverage in our new place, we needed to switch over to T-Mobile (which has great coverage at the new place). AT&T threw up every roadblock and played every dirty trick imaginable to stop us from unlocking our phones and making the switch.

I will never knowingly give those miserable SOBs another cent of my money. I told my stock broker to sell all my AT&T stock because I want to be able to cheer for their financial destruction.

Sounds like me and Time Warner Cable. Was a customer forever, it seems. I think initially (in the '80's) I was paying something like $25 for TV. As more became available, we did the 'bundle' thing. But when it got to $250 for TV, Internet and a landline, I just couldn't pay it anymore.
Satellite is only marginally better, but at least 'Sunday Ticket' is available. So I can still watch as much Football as my little heart desires, including my beloved Ravens, even though I am squarely in Carolina Panthers territory. BofA Stadium is only about 28 miles from my house, but I am not much of a Panther Fan.

That’s a nice looking setup. I need to think about a dual battery mod with the Clapton coils I’m addicted to. I run through batteries pretty darn fast.

As for tanks, I just ordered my third Wotofo SMM Serpent. Super easy to build and great airflow. Flavor is excellent. It’s 24mm diameter, 4 ml capacity in a low form factor, so it looks great on small mods. It came with 2 extra glass tanks, which appeals to my inner klutz. At $24 it’s nicely affordable.

The wide bore drip tip is ugly! Aged Tupperware - ick! But I got used to it.

Wotofo X Suck My Mod Serpent SMM RTA

I bought another because I had completely taken apart the first one to clean it when I got it. Ever since then, I think the inner resistance has been funky. Pretty sure I messed up the positive pin somehow. Any mod I put it on ends up jumping around reading the coil resistance. Sometimes it’s perfect, then I refill, pop it back on and resistance goes bonkers. After months and over a dozen new coils, take aparts and cleanings, I’m giving up on it. I didn’t take the positive pin apart on the second one, and it’s rock solid. I won’t make that mistake with the new one!

Having lived in Chicago for the first 38 years of my life I am a diehard Chicago sports fan. All of them...White Sox (absolute favorite), Cubs (not so much), Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls. But when I moved to North Carolina (20 years ago on Jan. 4) I added all the local teams to my faves. Tar Heels, Wolfpack, Blue Demons, Hurricanes, and Panthers. When the Chicago teams play a NC team I root for the team who needs the win the most. All things being equal I usually cheer for the Chicago team but not always. I have tired of the Bears being owned by the McCaskey's. She may have George Halas blood in her but the franchise went in the toilet after Papa Bear died in the 80's. I'm totally fed up with the Bears and tired of them losing year after year after year. Monsters of the Midway...Yeah Right!! Chicago needs and deserves a second NFL team. The toughest day of my sports life is when the Tar Heels and the Illini played in the 2005 NCAA basketball championship. I was really torn. I leaned Illinois only because they never won a national championship. Which remains the same today.

Well, Papaws Ravens (my Fantasy Football team) did me well this year. So well I ordered some new vaping gear - TC Mod and two Tanks that the all-hallowed ( :pervy: ) P. Fatboysido loved the MTL flavor from. I went with GearBest because they have all three in stock ;

Now I just need to shop for some Sony VT6 3000mAh batteries to feed this beast...
