I'm not hard on my phone and the S4 with only an edge guard has taken a few falls without any trouble. A new phone is part of the reason I'm looking. If I upgrade to an unlimited phone plan I could get free HBO and $15 off my Directv Now. And the HBO would be included on my Directv Now. I wasn't in a hurry to get a phone but the deal I'm looking at looks good. But I'm going to think about it some more.
Is that an on-going rate or a teaser promotion? Not a bad deal.

I've got a tower-style Japanese Pioneer system from my Navy days that is 35 years old and collecting dust. I am seriously thinking of something (Bose, Alexa, whatever...) that is a smaller tabletop system that can deliver a broad range of sound. Maybe even with remote smaller speakers.
Any suggestions...

had an interesting driving experience about an hour ago...

Im driving west bound I-10 and noticed a set of headlites that seemed a bit out of place... they got closer and I realized some idiot was in the left lane of the westbound side traveling east .....

I moved into the right lane and watched this fool go by at about 70 or so... I was like "White Turkey Feathers!!!" Does this person not understand whats going on??? should have noticed the road reflectors were red, all the signs on the roadside were "backwards", and oncoming traffic on a divided hiway????

Needless to say, on my way back, low and behold there were a couple of state police, 2 wrecker trucks loaded up with what looked like cars, and debris all over the hiway ( both sides of the interstate).... I guess somebody got messed up...o_O
Oh jeez. I hope the other car drivers are OK.

David - I have broken several phones. Everything in a big truck takes a beating, as I am sure you well know. About a year ago I googled "rough service phones" and the best was made by Caterpillar. Yes, that Caterpillar. But they cost $700 or more.
I went with the Kyocera Work Pro. A durable phone with a Sapphire Screen, and the Android app. Couldn't be happier. Toughest phone I've come across.
Just my opinion, worth what you paid for it....

Hey Hula ! Any missile attacks today ?
LOL - I missed the last one, because I thought it was a "wild weather warning" (the phone emits a long shrieking noise when there's something "important" from the State of Hawaii) I looked out the window. The weather was lovely and I didn't care if they were having showers in Maui. So I didn't bother actually hefting my rear end to get the phone, to see the message. Some warning system eh?

I haven't looked in a long time. I'd figure out what you want to use them for and how much sound your looking to go. Them google, google, google.

Not sure and that's what I was thinking. I need to go to the AT&T store and find out. But knowing me I'd walk out with a new phone.;)
LMAO!

I bought these for my PC over 10 years ago and they are still going. Granted they don't get played at a high volume.

Logitech Z-640 Speakers - Newegg.com
Nice! Have to say Logitech really is the best for sub $100 systems. I've done a ton of research and that is a widely held opinion including mine.

Gotta tell us what you're using it for. TV? PC? Home music system? Etc.? And what would your budget be?

raining its buttoff down here... there is a BBQ festival/competition in a local park that I wanted to go to... soooo... I went :)
mud, water 3" deep, lightning, thunder, and LOTS of awesome BBQ to bring home... dry rub, Carolina, Texan, Memphis styles....
got about 9 different vendors "samples" ( anywhere from 5-10$ a sample) pulled pork, chicken, pork ribs, brisket.... :)
there were about 7 other people out there who I suppose are as hard core fanatics of BBQ as I am.. :)

and literally... Been there Got the "T-Shirt"...
too bad it got rained out, it would have been packed for sure. Even the band was playing :)

would have stayed longer but the rain got cold... :(

Listening to music. Reception here is weak, maybe streaming would be better ? Maybe check with daughter, I think she is into that sort of thing. Under $200 would be nice.

You can get a true 5.1 system where you can hook up a bunch of stuff. Your TV, DVD player, MP3, computer, etc. I'm assuming you mostly want it for TV shows, movies and music. Important: What kind of audio output do you have on your TV? RCA (the red and white cable), headphone jack, coaxial (the fat cable), optical (those phone jack looking things), HDMI? Make sure when you look to be sure they are "AUDIO OUTPUT" jacks. You might have more than one kind of audio output. Let me know.

Well got the cap put in and the bass still doesn't work. Must be something else. Think I'll just leave it for now because I moved it to back speaker which doesn't add a lot of sound anyway. I may buy a couple used ones or just wait and replace all of them. Which would mean I'd have extra speakers. Either way it doesn't affect the sound.

My living room surround amp is actually a 7.1 but I've never used it. Put it on 5.1 when I got it and kept it there. I have one extra JBL speaker I never used. I'd need another one if I want to go to 7.1. And I'd have to wire up which isn't so easy. That's why I haven't done it. Does 7.1 really add anything worthwhile? What sounds do you get out of it? Same as the other two back speakers?
