It is eight degrees hotter than normal. High today 91, with a real feel of 101. I thought it felt like summer just about. Now I know why. It is warm out there, I'll say that. The hot wind dried everything out. The river is low, which surprised me. The spraying continues, I could do without it.

We have that tropical air coming up from the Gulf and beyond that is making this place like a sauna. Rains hard for 10 minutes then the sun comes out. Ultra humid and steamy out there. I'm gonna need a John Deere combine to cut my grass.

Evening.....You know when you have to deal with a person or two that have a negative attitude most of the time it starts to bring you down to their level. Well I've always found the way to deal with it is to limit my interaction with them to only what I have to. Gets my balance back and makes the day go a lot better. And the funny thig is the people in question will likely never figure it out.

David, is it just my imagination the Corgi pictures are becoming more frequent? I am not complaining, I think they are adorable. I sense a new Corgi coming to live with you before long. Get hot on that fence making mister!

Speaking of hot, it is feeling like mid-late July. That is scary since it isn't even that close to June yet. The humidity will sneak up on you, and before you know it you've had too much heat. Real feel 98 deg now.

I have been messing with my plants a little bit. They have been extra thirsty lately. My Feverfew and Heal's All are blooming away out there.

Might have something to do with your justifiable admiration for that guy you quote in your signature.
I guess when I was around for King George 3rd's wedding I probably would have felt the same way. :)

Oddly, Charlotte, NC (located in Mecklenburg County) is named after King George III's wife...Queen Charlotte...Charlotte of Mecklenburg. Charlotte, NC was named after her and why Charlotte, NC is referred to as the "Queen City". The city was established 8 years before the Revolutionary War. I wonder if they would have named the city after Queen Charlotte after the war started?? The founders of Charlotte, NC were loyalists to the crown. Of course back in those days royalty actually meant something as they were the monarchy. Royalty is primarily symbolism now.

Don't you know it!

What I find massively interesting is that George Washington was sterile. He never had biological children of his own. Now if one believes in Providence could they have come up with a better way to ensure America did not follow in the footsteps of the Monarchy?

I never thought of it in those terms, how interesting. He declined the kingship for himself but, often, the next generation loses a little. Very intriguing thought.
