I never thought of it in those terms, how interesting. He declined the kingship for himself but, often, the next generation loses a little. Very intriguing thought.
Had he accepted the kingship would he have been called King George I or King George IV?

Maybe King George A or 1a?

I believe George Washington was the first and only man to ever decline being named the supreme leader (King in this case) after conquering a land. President perhaps, but he gave that up too. He didn't want it in the first place. Poor guy never had much of a life of his own. What little he had was his most loved. Hanging out at Mount Vernon with Martha. :)

I am in awe of the Constitution, its authors. There is not a way in the world that I could ever have done so well and I think that I am pretty bright. What the founders risk and went through for their beliefs. They not only talked a good game, they lived it. I am distressed to be living through its disintegration. One of them said that a republic will only work if populated by moral people - he was right.
I am downer this evening, I think that I will have a toddy with Mrs CMD, go to bed early and wake refreshed.

David, is it just my imagination the Corgi pictures are becoming more frequent? I am not complaining, I think they are adorable. I sense a new Corgi coming to live with you before long. Get hot on that fence making mister!

Speaking of hot, it is feeling like mid-late July. That is scary since it isn't even that close to June yet. The humidity will sneak up on you, and before you know it you've had too much heat. Real feel 98 deg now.

I have been messing with my plants a little bit. They have been extra thirsty lately. My Feverfew and Heal's All are blooming away out there.

The fence is on my list. Need to get the new hearing aids first. And now I need to see what the gas company is going to do on the time line to replace the lines on my street and a few others. Got the notices the other day. Said it would be going on from May to September..

I deliberately avoid it. Watched Princess Di, and a bit of Prince William. That's all I can manage.
That's more than I could do. I know of people (middle aged women) who are getting dressed up for the occasion. Seriously?

Good Morning Army. TGIF !!!
I'm at the age where the most exciting thing in my weekend is NO ALARM CLOCK !
Am I the only one who thinks 'Blacklist' took a turn for the worse with the season finale ?

Have a Safe and Blessed Day :)

I quit watching TV... dont even watch the weather... nothing worthwhile to interest me anymore... same oh same oh...
when I need my dose of interesting... I come here ;)
Slim pickins on the toob these days.

Good morning Army! Have a great Friday!! :)

Another bird story...

Robin (our lovely threadmember, not the bird) inspired me to do some organizing in the garage. I go out there and there's a bluebird hopping around on top of a pushbroom I have hanging upside down against the wall. He's runnin' his beak letting me know he's not happy. I regularly get birds in the garage who get stuck and are too stupid to figure how to get out. Usually it's the hummingbirds. I ignore him. They eventually find their way out. I'm coming and going. A couple hours go by and I notice he's gone. Then suddenly he reappears. This time with a piece of bark in his chops. Then mommy shows up right behind him with a piece of pine straw in her beak. They weren't stuck at all. They knew exactly what they were doing. These two feathered freeloaders were building a nest in my broom. Pretty nervy if you ask me. So I took the broom down (the nest was nearly done) and chased them out. They perched on a nearby tree giving me some more beak. Too bad. Scram! You belong outside! Bastiches.

My goodness it is blazing hot outside today, worse than before. I was outside in the shade, and the thermometer said it was 98 degrees a while ago. There is a dry hot breeze to go with it. We don't usually get a breeze this time of year, unless a storm is approaching maybe. A local station said it is 94 degrees. I don't know what the real feel is, but it is HOT.
