I have been a FireFox user for years and years - started with Netscape, a predecessor to FireFox. I have flirted with other browsers but not for long. When removing Chrome, I edited the registry to eliminate the Chrome "leftovers".
Duck Duck Go for a search engine - never Google. I use "Privacy Badger" to eliminate Google and Facebook tracking. Sometimes PB will mess up a site but I prefer to avoid tracking to reading a tracking site.
I attempt to live in a "Google-free" zone to the degree possible.

I use it but rarely. Need to use it on a regular basis. Chrome was nice at one time but can't say it is anymore.

Just fired up Firefox. Gave the favorites an enema and then reloaded them from Chrome to Firefox. EZ PZ. Also made duckduckgo my default browser. Bye bye Chrome/Google.

If you want to block Google, Facebook, Twitter and other trackers, Privacy Badger works well, you might consider it. It is an "add on" under the "Tools" tab. It is very easy to turn and off because it is very effective at privacy protection and can prevent some things from loading.
I have used it for quite a while but I am a paranoid old man who just wants kids off his grass.

I don't do Twitter or Facebook. But in case anyone is interested, I had a bowl of Wheaties and OJ for breakfast and I went to the bathroom at 10:07 AM.

At 2:38 PM, I found myself to be so "relieved", so to speak, to hear of your breakfast and subsequent outcome.

Privacy Badger or Ghostery work equally well at shutting down trackers . Add the Purevpn extension along with one of those and trackers will be dazed and confused . Unless you go the paid route on the Vpn you'll have to disconnect it for Netflix or Amazon Prime but it's a two click process to connect or disconnect , it's really easy to manage . IP locator says I'm sitting in Stockholm right now . I do plan on going the paid route with it , the prices are very reasonable .

I have used Firefox for years. The past several months I've been using Opera a bit more. I used Opera a very long time ago, but recently started using it again. I like alternative search engines as well. I am tired of the same stuff Hula, it is beyond ridiculous. If I knew somebody nearby, I'd also be doing Linux as well. I have other things going on, and don't want to make a mess of things. I know Retic says it is easy, but I am wary. I tried dual booting, but never got the hang of it, there were issues. Even the processors have flaws, and it is getting out of hand.
Opera needs to get more servers for their Vpn online , right now the Purevpn extension with Firefox is a lot quicker . Unless you're a gamer or need to use special software there's no reason to dual boot . If you don't have the confidence to install Linux It's best you don't attempt it though .

I'll have to check that out. Not sure it's necessary to pay if they think you're in Stockholm though, no? Or are you in Stockholm?

I am in Stockholm, Kentucky and I am a victim (the highest goal of any American) of its syndrome.
That's by Mammoth Cave! Was there when I was a kid on one of our classic family vacations. A couple times. Took the long tour. Can't remember how long it was. Seemed forever. Fun for an hour or so then kinda the same after that. When you've seen one stalagmite you've seen 'em all. Remember some restaurant about half way. Was the name of it the Snowball Restaurant or something like that?

I think it was the 7 mile tour. Dad, doing his best Clark Griswold impression, was determined to see the whole cave. All we got was charlie horses. I wonder why a dad would want to walk 7 miles in a cave with three snot-nosed kids...whining and fighting the entire way, no doubt. I'm sure my mom warned him. She'd go nuts just walking us thru the supermarket. And my dad had way less patience than my mom. I declare...moms are the bestest!!

I also used Netscape, then Opera, then Firefox. (Sea Monkey was also used for a while) I stayed with Firefox for umpteen years. Now I have been using Opera more. Retic, I did look at that add on for Firefox. I was going to install it, but as you download it, it starts letting you know all the permissions it needs, and I canceled for now. I am not sure I like what all they say about permissions. Maybe it is completely legit, maybe not. I will have to explore more when I have time.

    That bothers me too.

If memory serves me, that restaurant went out of business shortly after some rowdy crew from one of the Carolina's came through slinging broken stalagmites, or was it stalactites, around the eating area finally running through the kitchen. Poor man really can't recall - the incident was just too traumatic.
