It is gonna be scorching hot again. Top that off with freaking Saharan "dust" which will cause haze and potential issues with people who have breathing problems for the next few days. Allergies/asthma, lung ailment folks are at risk. I never heard of this before. They are trying to say it happens a few times a year. From Mexico yes, we do get smoke from fires etc... but dust from Africa across the ocean to us? Seriously? Maybe so, who the heck knows anymore.

@Desert Dweller , Linux Mint 19 Cinnamon and Mate have been released . Just upgraded my LM19 Mate beta to release version , It's running perfectly as expected .
yep-dowloaded both and loaded up Mate first for speed-just logged off of it for windows-need to sort a couple of things,1. how to install network printer connected to a windows computer to linux,2 how to update firefox in Mate to 64 bit-unsuccessful so far-edit :it is running well though!

Went to the chiropractor and the store..Yard needs mowed but that's not going to happen with this heat. Maybe in the morning.

Leave that for the system to handle , it will update in the update manager when Ubuntu passes it down . You'll see it listed among your updates then .
DD , if I was you , I'd reinstall the OS . Refresh the update manager first thing and apply the updates .
Also , if you want to install an app that's not in the software manager , the proper version will be 64 bit debian or .deb , a .deb file is equivalent to an .exe file in Windoze .
DD , you're gonna need this , it will enable you to use the latest Nvidia drivers in LM . Copy and paste the commands one at a time into the terminal followed by enter after each one . It will ask for your password type it in and hit enter . If it ask's you if you want to proceed type a capital Y and hit enter . After it's done reboot and check your driver manager . The latest version for Linux should be there . Here's the commands .
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa
sudo apt update
