Lol! An hour would be too much, I do use the longest setting (gum care). 1 gum grat session is enough in my lifetime and I’m doing everything possible to avoid that. I am curious about @Hulamoon’s flossing tool. I could add one more thing.
They call the longest setting on mine, "deep clean". I'd be fine with 2, 2.5, 3. :)

Sonicare Update:

Used it for the first time. Two observations that really stick out.

1) This thing rocks! Does it clean? You better believe it! And not just the tooth surfaces but also between teeth. When done you really feel like your entire mouth is clean. A manual toothbrush is laughable compared to this thing. I suspect in a week or two the ole chicklets will be a shade or two brighter as well. But I am most pleased that I know my oral health will be better. No doubt about it!

2) That thing tickled the hell out of my mouth to the point where my eyes were tearing up. Not pain, but tickling. Best way to describe it. Still intolerable. This is a potential showstopper unless it subsides. That vibration just isn't sitting well as far as my piehole is concerned. I did three minutes with the generic head. Then I switched to the Sonicare head and did another three minutes. The tickling wasn't as bad with the Sonicare head but still there. I really hope that goes away. Maybe I just need to get used to it or change how I'm using it. Sumpin' got to change there or I might be switching to an Oral-B.

Which brush is softer?

Beautiful! Is that the rare Grand?

Yes, a VV Stabilized Woodvil. I am told when plastic is injected into the block of wood, you really have no idea what the pattern will look like. Rob milled this VV Woodvil from such wood back in 2012.

It goes away, just give it a few days.

How did he get it injected?

I was wrong. It is treated, usually maple or buckeye, with a vacuum induced light resin, then baked. Rob bought these woods, then milled them. I am pretty sure he was buying from a commercial provider, like stabilizedwoods.com

I wondered about that. Thanks for the warning. The model I bought has a timer in it. 2, 2-1/2, and 3 minute options (they should have an hour for April). It even signals you to move to the next section of your mouth. So I'm guessing I'll just let the time expire before prying the thing out of my face.

I do 2.5. 30 seconds each quadrant, then another 30 seconds on the back of the front teeth, upper and lower.

It won't clean all the way in between but it does do a dang good job!

My doc hates the vibration of the sonicare.. But, try using a little more pressure in those areas where it drives you nuts. It will make a weird sound if you push too hard.. And I agree with April, you'll get used to it!

I’m kind of expecting it to improve. I don’t mind the vibration. I actually like it. But the tickling is a no go. That aint gonna work. Will definitely try to wait it out though. My dentist said the same thing Bridge. He uses the Oral-B cus he said the Sonicare vibrates his head off. Didn’t say anything about it tingling though. That vibration actually gives a nice gum massage when it’s not tickling me to death.

Thankfully, I have always flossed a lot. It’s nearly an obsession. I can’t use the string stuff though. I know it’s the best but I just cant jam my fist in my mouth to do it (no comments from the peanut gallery please). I use those picks. I get those jumbo bags and I’m flossing with those even when I don’t need it. Doc calls them cap poppers. I’m careful. Also use those G-U-M soft picks. Kinda look like those dressed up toothpicks you put in a cocktail. I like those things. They feel good.

Question: you said the purple stuff has fluoride. How does that work? Just it just attach itself to the enamel and form a coating? We have well water here so I know there’s no fluoride in there.

My Sonicare runs for two minutes in 30 second segments. I do one quadrant of my mouth per segment, and then usually do another 30 second segment for good measure.

General, if yours has 2 speed/intensity settings, make sure you've got it set on the lower setting.

It has three intensity settings Pap. Didn’t seem to matter on the tickle meter. I’m thinking April n Bridge could be right and it will subside eventually. I mean, I can’t be the only one. Maybe I need to callous up a bit. Kinda like vapor’s tongue. I mean, I’m going from. 33,000 strokes per year to 33,000 per second. That’s like a tortoise compared to the Enterprise.

I think you'll get used to the feel of it in your mouth. I would suggest using the Sonicare brush (instead of the aftermarket one) until you get used to it.

I get my teeth cleaned every 4 months, so I change brush heads after every cleaning.
We think alike. I was gonna stick with the Sonicare brush until I settle in. I need to make sure this thing works first with it’s best foot forward. After that then I can test the generic brush.

You get your teeth cleaned a lot too.

Evening......only snow that remains id the piles.. it was raining when I went to work and it is still raining. Hasn't stopped all day. And the temps are going to go back down. That could make things interesting...

It’ll turn those snow piles to a gargantuan ice block.
