. . . . Anyone who is familiar with Electrolux vacuums back in the day know they were the Cadillacs of vacuum cleaners for many decades (can't speak for them now). . . .

I disagree. They were the Rolls Royce of vacuum cleaners. They were made back when things were built to last.

False alarm. A doctor unfamiliar with her situation was going to discharge her. Now we are waiting for her doctor to come see her and make a decision

Most. Frustrating. Aspect. Of. Healthcare. (Besides the cost) All those doctors seeing you in hospital - and none seems to have the whole picture.

I had that one as a hand-me-down in the early 80’s. If I’d treated it with the care you give yours it’d probably still be running. I don’t know if its catch bags would still be available.

Well done on the matching rubber band on yours. Also kudos for eating your asparagus.

I went through that with my mom when she was in the hospital. I was very frustrated. I lost a whole lot of respect for doctors after that episode. She was in for cancer and other maladies and it took the pulmonary doctor to set me straight on her condition. He brought me to another room and had a heart to heart with me (never had a chance to tell him how much I appreciated that). And he was not the primary doctor. All the other doctors were a joke...especially her cancer doc. Could never find them. Anyone who takes the word of a doctor is setting themselves up for disappointment.

the wifey bought a Kirby vacuum, the hotel version... cast aluminum housing, 44HP motor, enuf doodads to fill 2 bags, and a 12 month payment plan. ;)
it would have been easier to buy a new car...

Back when door to door salesmen were still around! The Kirby guy came around to my place too. I never did let him in because of his answer to my first question: How much?

I think those came from the 50's. Possibly earlier.

Agreed! When my third daughter was in the hospital for aspiration pneumonia, I stayed there with her the whole 2 weeks. She was 3 yrs old. She went through 2 surgeries to drain & clear her lungs. Side note: the first trip to the ER with her, they sent us home with antibiotics, but failed to notice the pneumonia.

With the surgeries, they kept increasing her dosage of antibiotics and stepping up to stronger & stronger ones. She’d get better for a day, then go downhill again. We brought in an infectious disease doctor - had to insist he be allowed to review her case. Still none of them talked to the others. I finally had to insist they confer. That took place in the hallway, where they proceeded to argue!

Reason finally prevailed, the problem was discovered and she recovered. That would not have happened if I had just let them go on with separate and non-communicating approaches. That’s also where nurses are a blessing.

I have my grandma's Kirby, don't know how old it is. I stashed it away after I tried to use it once. It still works but it's so heavy and hard to push around! Getting ready to dig it out and play with it though because my cheap crappy one is starting to go on me. If I can maneuver the Kirby and still get bags for it I may as well, I'll definitely burn more calories with it!

I like how you think! I always found it kind of hilarious that soon after our TVs and stereos became remote-controlled and we’d no longer had to get up... we started paying for gym memberships to get some exercise. We humans are weird. ;)
