You should try it and see. :)

How are you ever going to be able to eat those cows?

I'm not. Their job is to have babies. The baby females will get sold as breeding stock or added to the herd as breeding stock.

The baby boys will get castrated and eventually go to freezer camp. That will be the hard part, and I'll have to keep from getting attached to them.

i worked on a pig farm when I was on break from uni studies.....it was a lot of fun followed by a lot of HEARTBREAKING! Those little fellas all had personalities, mischievous, highly intelligent. My family house in England backed onto a home slaughter butcher's field. But when they went from the field through to the yard, let me just say that....they knew what was going to happen to them.

I've got two of them, and they're spoiled just like my dogs. One of them, Betsy, was a bottle calf whose mother died a couple of days after she was born, so she was raised on a bottle. As a result, she's very gentle - more like a big black dog than a cow. She loves to have her ears and belly scratched while she's eating.

My wife says I give more affection to Betsy than I do to her. But I don't think my wife would want her ears and belly scratched while she's eating. ;)
Well...you don't know till you try.....

Hello... there is nothing wrong with my heart, just some PvC’s, which are harmless. Of course I was prescribed a med which I will not take. Your typical non-compliant nurse here! Lol. I’m cleared for surgery and had some more blood work done (thyroid dysfunction can be the cause of the PVC’s).

Trying to stay busy and not let my imagination get out of hand :)

I was hoping for good news from you today! I’d be like you with the meds. They hand me the prescription and it goes in my shredder. Keeping busy is a good way to get through. Sending hugs!

Are the cows part of a dairy farming operation for you? I’d have a tough time with not getting attached too. Farming isn’t easy for sensitive souls like you.

You are full of surprises! I would never have imagined you working on a pig farm. I’ve heard that pigs are very intelligent. That’s sad to think they know... :(

I agree. When I lived at home, we raised pigs. They are indeed intelligent, funny and full of personality.

I had a show pig. Her name was Porkchop. After I went off to college, my dad kept her. Later, my mom died and my dad couldn't keep up the pig business, so they all had to get sold. . . . including Porkchop. Couldn't find anybody who would take her and not eat her. That's one of the hardest things I've ever done, and I still feel guilty about it.

Oh no. I'm just a hobby farmer, and a p!ss poor one at that. My dad was a real farmer and he would roll over in his grave if he knew what a hack I am.

I too grew up on a pig farm. My dad used to give me the runts to raise. It was sad when they went to market, but I won't lie, I always liked that check I got from them...

Saw a new channel being advertised called Curiosity Stream. I have it on my Roku. Got it for free. So I downloaded it. Lots of cool non-fiction programing. Started one show called Deep Time History. First episode was about the rise of civilization. Very interesting. Lots of really cool stuff on this channel if you like interesting stuff instead of dancing and singing contests.

I babysat my grandsons, so that was my authentic love session. They wore me down to a nub, but I loved seeing them. I had my daughter bring some books out so I could read to the babies. They weren't super interested in the books, but that will change I hope. I used to read to my kids every day when they were young. My daughter especially loved books when she was about the age the twins are now. So when I want the twins to wind down a little, I will pull the books out.

On a rainy day, my kids would pile up on my bed and I would read to them for a long time. Then we would all take a good long nap. My kids wouldn't go to sleep without at least 3 bedtime stories. Yes, they would drag out bedtime as long as possible, but they still loved the stories. I know both of my kids remember this, and I bet they will do the same for their kids too.
