I seriously almost lost it during that MRI. My thoughts went to very dark places. Not fun at all. Other than that I’ve been very calm.

And thank you for being so sweet and caring. I appreciate it

I’ve had at least two MRIs. I closed my eyes in case of any claustrophobic feelings. Looks like I’m the oddball here because from there I became very still and sedate. The jackhammer sounds even faded away and I didn’t notice them. It was a peaceful experience.

The fact that I had so many noisy little ones at home may have been a factor! It was one place they couldn’t come and find me! :)

Today I experienced true kindness from a stranger. I was making a right onto a busy street in Tulsa, looking over my left shoulder for oncoming traffic.. bumped the car in front of me. I sat there frozen! The lady got out and checked her car, no mark. She got back in, but followed me to my first stop. I asked if her car was ok.. she said yes, but you did not react at all.. I told her I'd never done that before and my heart was still pounding.. She was so sweet, asked to pray with me and did so.. Hugged me and left!

Beautiful! I’m so glad you shared this story. What a lovely encounter when it could have been awful. Wow. There really are good people in the world. You are definitely one of them — and today you met another. Priceless.

I have been spending my day indulging in the periodic chocolate..

I think on your part, you might want to mention nutritional programming on a day that isn't national chocolate day.. hahaha

Yes. We need to keep this in mind when we are deluged by the news with stories of hate, spite, pettiness and vitriol.

@76bridget lovely story. Thanks for sharing and reminding me to always go a little extra in extending my own kindness to others. It really can make a difference.

I was on my stomach for that MRI, with my poor bruised from biopsies breasts squished in a mammogram vice with my arms over my head. My arms started going numb, my elbows kept rubbing against the tube as I went in and out and then my ear had an itch. The itch sent me over the edge. Not being able to just move my hair that was tickling my ear was the straw that broke the camels back. There will be more of these to come so I’m trying to line up ideas to make them more tolerable :)

Glad I’m not alone in the MRI dislike camp. If it were just a few passes it would have been fine, but the length of time you’re in there is what got to me.

Happy Saturday everyone!!

You can ask your doctor to give you something before going in next time. The doctor orders something for me prior so that it's a little easier, so you might see if yours will do the same..

Hair tie next time! ;)

That’s an unpleasant and uncomfortable position to be in. Ugh. Maybe memorize something inspiring or comforting - song lyrics, quotes, poems, verses from the Bible - then focus as intently as you can on recalling the words, the meanings, how the words make you feel, let yourself be carried away by them and keep repeating them. Anything to take you out of noticing the details of where you are and what’s happening - especially to distract yourself from noticing how slowly time is passing.

Memorize a photo or painting and recall its details. Think of a word and then make as many other words out of its letters as you can. Picture yourself at your favorite place with your favorite people and imagine the whole scene - what you’re wearing, eating, drinking & saying to each other. Relive a favorite day!

I went by a minor fender bender yesterday in the middle of the road. Some big dude about 6-1/2 feet tall getting rather animated at the person who doinked him. I crept forward keeping an eye on him to be sure he didn't go off. He was ticked but appeared he was in control so I went on.

Kid #1: "Where's mom?"
Kid #2: "In an MRI tube".

A good example of concern and restraint on your part.

MRI tubes don't bother me. The first time I went in one, I did not realize it would make racket like that. So I didn't like it, but didn't freak out. From then on it was okay. One time my nose itched while I was in there, so I know what you mean.

I have another story of someone nice, but I wasn't in a car incident.

The last time my mother was in the hospital, I did have some meals at the hospital cafeteria. It was adding up on my limited resources. So I told the guy I wanted a hamburger, and he was about to make it. He asked if I wanted fries, and I said well I would, but I can't afford it, so no fries. I got a water to go with the burger, and was checking out. I did not realize I had fries when I opened the container to show the checker what I had. I said no, I didn't order fries. The checker said don't worry it is paid for. I said what do you mean paid for? He told me my whole meal was paid for by that lady. Of course I had no idea what lady, and he pointed her out to me. She was standing right behind me in line, with a big smile on her face. I thanked her of course, and we had a little chat. So there are some good people left in this world. Sometimes it doesn't seem like there are, but you run across them now and then. It restores your faith in humanity, that is for sure.

if you only knew what an MRI actually is.... o_O and what it does....

magnetic resonate imaging... it pulses hi power magnetic waves thru the body to "spin" the water molecules in the body at a specific frequency to create "echos" that can be read by the sensors... all that thumping isnt there for your pleasure.. its kilojoules of power being expended, all of them focused into the patient...

EMP/F is some serious stuff in sufficent quantities

and how does a microwave work??? the same way... it vibrates the water molecules to produce heat... and X-Rays... tiny little bullets that shred dna into mutant forms

Well BK, I caved. Couldn't live knowing my truck engine could cut off at any time. So I did a lot of research the last few days and narrowed it down to three likely problems. Crankshaft sensor, camshaft sensor, or ignition switch. 40% chance on each of the first two and 10% on the ignition switch. The other 10% could be sumpin' else. So got the parts. Just got to put them on. The crankshaft sensor is gonna be a PITA. Not gonna do anything today. Leaving for dinner in a couple hours so tomorrow I'll start in on it.

makes one wonder WHY motors need that stuff... motors worked quite well with carbs and points and condensors for many years... easy to fix easy to trouble shoot, but now, you need a frikkin computer and a degree in mechanical/electrical engineering just to figure out there "might" be a problem...

and by the way... I would be prone to leave out the ignition switch IF everything else stays running ( radio, dash lites, warning lites etc) when the motor dies.

I was thinking the same thing with the carb/points/condenser. But then I do like fuel injection. :) I have that OBD1 scanner built in my truck. I'd like to know what use it is if it couldn't detect this problem. It should have recorded the error. I learned it doesn't necessarily.

I don't think it's the ignition switch either for the reasons you listed. But I decided to do it anyway. At 25 years old if it's not gone now it wont be long. That's the attitude I have adopted for my truck. :)
