I think I'm stressing myself out by looking at this as a means to an end. The pressure to quit it all is making things worse. My hubby just told me that I should vape as long as I need to vape. That takes the pressure off a bit...

Absolutely right!:) We have many people on this forum who have vaped for years, and are doing just fine with it. I don't have any kind of time frame for myself, nor do I intend to "wean" down my nicotine strength. One thing at a time - I'm not smoking now, and that's good enough for me.

I have a little saying stuck to my fridge. Maybe you might like it:

Start where you are.
Use what you have.
Do what you can.
It will be enough.

The first day I got my ego I challenged myself to not carrying my pack of cigarettes for one day. Whenever I felt the nicfits, I would vape it off. The day went pretty well. After that I wonted to see how long of a streal I could hold - perhaps one week. That week was pretty hard, because I only had one bottle of juice and I was getting tired of it lol.

The week end by, and I went back to my local b&m and picked up a spare tank and a few more different bottles of juice. The second week I was kinda itching for a smoke, but I was holding steady and my pack of cigarettes were sitting all lonely on my desk.

About mid week - 10 days after I got my ego - I was not craving a cig, but for some reason I wanted one, like I missed the action of smoking; I don't know why - so I caved.

I broke my streak of 10 days, grabbed a lighter, went outside and lit up - and it was disgusting! The taste was horrible, and because I was already vaping thruout the day, the nicotine from the cigarette did absolutely nothing for me. That impacted me a heck of a lot - if cigarettes couldn't offer anything better than what I was already getting from my ecig, why continue??

I couldn't finish the cigarette, I as getting absolutely no pleasure from it, and realized what I thought I was missing from cigarettes, I wasn't missing at all. I totally don't miss the harshness, I don't miss the way my clothes reek. It was done, I broke free.

I started at 12mg juice, but about a month in I've switched down to 6.

Since then I've been heavily into rebuilding, playing around with genny atties and kayfuns and whatnot. Recently I've been on a dripper kick, largely because I could switch juices on the fly. I statyed building lower resistance coils and trying them out. They were punching out a ton of vapor - but since then I've come to the conclusion that more flavor does ot necessarily equates to a better experience.

Nowadays I've been dripping at 1.3ohms with a big open draw - I actually prefer my flavor to be more ligher and subtle - pehaps it is because my tastebuds started coming back, who knows. One thing I do like however is a super airy draw. It just kinda works for me. Plus at 1.3ohms I've been saving my battery life considerably after that short subohm stint. Oh, and 6mg has staryed giving me a bit of too much throat hit, so I'm looking to move down to 3.

I don't know, perhaps I will end up diluting some of my juices with vg to reduce both the flavor intensoty and nicotine amount. Otherwise I will be buying 0mg + 6mg and blending down the two. I'll see how that turns out.

But anyways, back on topic: I would probably say 10 days, and it was entirely by accident.

After reading all the previous posts, I am taken with how different we all are. What we have in common is that we all smoked, and at some point we didn't want to smoke any more. That's the wonder of this forum. If you keep reading and listening, someone will tell your story.

I wanted to add that when you are new to this, (as I still am after a little over a month) the nicotine strength can make a big difference in how successful you are.

I smoked the better part of two packs for over 40 years, and had no idea of what strength nicotine to buy at the vape shop when I started. The little gal there was very sweet, but probably didn't really know what she was doing, lol. But I didn't either, so I took her recommendation and started with 12 mg. It kept me from smoking for several days, and I didn't really have what I would call a craving, but just that vague, anxious, something's missing feeling.

I went back and got some 18 mg which worked so much better in a matter of a few hours. So keep in mind you might have to experiment with different strengths to find what works for you.

This is a great point. I actually have a couple of small bottles of 'extra strength' juice for those in-case-of-emergency moments. I leave them in my desk drawer at work :) sometimes I carry a bottle with me when my coworkers go drinking

I gotta have my contingency plan!

I smoked cancer sticks for 21 years of my life. tried quitting several times cold turkey, but that did not work. I then tried an e-ciggarette when they first came to the public. That did not work for me aswell the nicotine level in it was not enough to curb my craving for a real ciggarette so I threw that e-cigg away and picked up cancer sticks again. It wasnt until I started using juice that had the proper nicotine level for my craving. (36mg) Juices did it for me. My first vape of it had me at hello. Since then real ciggarettes stink and taste like garbage.

I've been smoking analogs for over 29 years and still struggle with quitting, even though I've had several ecigs over the past few years. I'm back on this site to find an ecig that gives me everything I want without costing an arm & a leg, doesn't require a lot of maintenance and replacement parts, and gives a decent flavor with lots of vapor. Not too much to ask for, right? lol

I'd like to think I'm not being unrealistic, but rather that I haven't found the right combination of ecig and juice yet. I get discouraged and go back to analogs too quickly. This time I'm in it for the long haul.

I bought my stuff last Saturday & I'm still smoking.

The juice is crap & I'm waiting for a shipment.

Am I naive in thinking that once I find my 'sweet spot', it will get easier?

I think you should drop all the expectation and pressure on yourself for now. You have started vaping. Just keep doing "that". See where it takes you.

I had trouble first few weeks. Then I realized "I can do this" and purposely went home for weekend w/out any cigs......by monday I was a full time vaper.

I think the experience is different for everyone. Let your experience be yours, and just enjoy where it takes you. YOu started, be proud

dont laugh...i got one of those free starter kits.....i said DONT laugh!! i of course cancelled the auto ship stuff right away. the juice was horrible but the set up worked and i went to a local shop and got some that tasted as close to a cig as i could. it was time, i was tired of the hassle of smoking, the smell and all the rules. that was 2 months ago and i have only smoked 2 since then just to see how the taste has changed and alcohol may have been a factor also.....i now cant even stand the juice that tastes like cigs, which is normal i hear. anyway, i just decided i was going vape instead and stuck with it.

Well let's see. I first tried to quit in college, was unsuccessful of course. So I guess I would say it took me 34 years. Still not out of the woods with 3 weeks as a non-smoker but very determined in not going back so I am doubting it. After first getting over the mental hump in January of making the transition from 2-3 cigarettes a day plus vaping to no cigarettes I haven't looked back and been completely satisfied. I think if you have been smoking a while it is probably best to ween off the analogs like I did, at least that seemed to work the best for me because I played with it some before I got serious and it didn't seem easy that way. :vapor:

I started with cig-alikes (V2 Cigs) and quit two weeks later. I would have quit within a couple of days, easily, but I had to wait on new cartos to come in the mail. I finished my last cigarette right before my new cartos came that day. I've smoked since then (maybe 5 or so, the day my oldest cat passed away in November, and the next day), but I have no desire to smoke, really. After I tried my first decent e-cig, I didn't care about cigarettes anymore. There were some rough days because of the side effects of quitting the cigarettes, but overall it wasn't hard. I didn't even really intend to quit smoking, it just happened.

Smoked a PAD for about sixteen years. Tried various times, half heartedly, to quit. Last real attempt was last spring when I went out and got one of those blu starter kits. Worked fairly well except when I was drinking. And toward the end of the day when they wouldn't charge enough. I also tried gum and patches with little luck.

Did that for like two months then went back to analogs.

Jan 2, 2014 I woke up not hung over but with my lungs feeling somebody had kicked me in the chest. Decided I'd try to go back to e-cigs. Got a blu disposable that day, and another the next day. Saturday, I noticed a convenience store near me had some basics, 650mAh eGo clones, CE4 clones and some Hangsen juice. So I went and bought what I needed. (As an aside, Hangsen Indian Tobacco is the best tobacco flavor I've tried yet. Too bad I don't know anything about what's in it, and I don't trust Chinese juice.)

I haven't had an analog since. It was the right device, the right time and the right juice. I'm now rocking a 134 that I picked up super, super cheap (2 PT2s, 2 replacement heads and the 134 for $40 shipped... Course the 510 threads were stripped...), four 18650 batteries, a few PT2s, an Igo-W, some EVODs, two 1100mAh eGo-C Twists, a bunch of Kanthol, a bag of cotton balls and a whole buttload of juice. I've also got an AGA-T2, a Smoktech Natural and another PT1 in the mail.

I can't ever see myself going back to analogs. Not sure I can see myself quitting vaping either, but at least I know I can step down my nic level if I want to.

EDIT: During the SuperbOwl I gave a CE4 and my 650 to my best friend and he's been rocking it since.

Smoked for 21 years with a few pauses in there with no real success. November of 2012 picked up my first disposable and was using them intermittently but wasn't satisfied. Found a B&M last February near my home and bought my first ego set up and within in a week stopped smoking. Coming up on a year in about two weeks and can't imagine ever going back.

I smoked for 40+ years. Out running around with my son one day and he had stopped to buy a pack. He came out of the store huffing mad, ranting that they had raised the prices again! He told me that a guy at his work vaped on a new type of ecig and we decided to go check out the store. My son bought a setup and quit right then and there. We went home and hubs and I played around with our sons new zmax. I decided to go get one for myself but hubs wasn't having any part of it. I did and messed around with it off and on for nearly 2 months.
Hubs lost his job. Smoked 3 packs that day and I had a fit! There was no way we could afford that!
I ran down to local shop and got him a ego kit.
He wouldn't touch it.
I started vaping most of the time.
He wouldn't touch it.
I had him taste this juice then that.
He found one he kinda liked. Touched it "a little".
I made it obvious that I was counting the smokes he had in a day. I wasn't kidding here, we couldn't afford it!
We quit smoking in the house. Hubs was proud that he had only smoked 10 that day. Then a few days later 5. then he hadn't had any all day. That had NEVER happened. Next day I quit. period and he and I haven't had one since.
It has been a learning curve for sure. He hates my juice and I hate his! He uses mec mods and I have two ProVaris.
I felt like hammered hell for almost two weeks after. On symptom of withdrawal followed by another. Hubs had none.
He never intended to quit, Loved his smokes. Now he loves his mods. He may not need more but wants them. He is back to work and if he wants new toys I don't hesitate to encourage him to get them. I am happy with my setup.
I say, long story short...
If it works, run with it. Everyone is different, What worked for me is NOT what worked for Hubs.
I will add that I have 5 sons. Four smoked. We all quit. One started again after a night of drinking. Yea, we are working on him to quit again.

I tried and ego 1000, an Evic, Zmax, Vamo, Ended with ProVari. I should sell the others but I hold onto them in case one of the boys needs one.:D
