I try to stealth vape in my car which is difficult because I have a big honkin' PINK Riva. LOL....so far only one person has questioned me and he said "is that one of those electric cigarette things?" I took it as an educational opportunity. My concern is getting into a tangle with law enforcement over what it is...I'm sure none of our officers here are familiar with PV's and would probably take me straight to jail without passing go if they saw me with it in the car or in public. It would almost be worth it because I would cause a stink like no ones business....and I could educate the entire county in one fell swoop with headlines like "Middle aged woman wrongly arrested for vaping while driving sues county, wins $5 million."

If you got a copy of the instruction manual, carry it in the car.

Sorry you feel that way, but I have never felt that way for vaping in public.

I'm fairly shy myself. The guy who would rather stand against a wall and watch people at a party. But I'm big. The children I don't frighten into screaming and running away at the sight of me always ask how tall I am. A guy my size standing in a corner watching people gets the cops called on him.

I vape in public all the time. Very seldom does anyone look at me oddly and even less seldom does anyone ask me questions.

I hope you feel better about it soon. We can use more public displays of vaping to help educate the vapeless masses.

In no way was smoking in public cool. But at least i was mixed in with other smokers when i was smoking cigarettes. Therefore i kinda blended in with them. Now when i vape in public i feel like everyone is looking at me. I can't help but wonder what they are thinking. They probably think i am smoking some illegal substance or something. I don't even feel comfortable around other smokers while vaping. I feel as if i am drawing attention to myself. I am a pretty shy guy and do not like any extra attention.

Does anyone else struggle with vaping in public? Hopefully this will all pass and eventually i just won't give a damn what people think.

I've been disfugured since a car accident and trust me, the stares from people while vaping pale in comparison.

Try not to take things too seriously. People constantly judge others no matter what. It's in our nature.

I have been vaping since a week ago and only official finished my last pack of analogs 2 days ago... and i can say that the only place i feel comfortable is vaping in the toilet. in fact, its more like feeling safe! If you guys live where i do you will know that vaping in public might just make me lose my precious E-cig and get me a hefty fine! I bet alot of you guys would be thinking..."Sucks to be you" haha..

Any pics??? :D
Not that I know of!!
Some girls were so scared of their parents they would wear a 'normal' skirt, and then roll up the waist band when they got to school.
That was about 1962, when parents still ruled the roost! Sort of.
Still, vaping is so new and such a big step for people to be able to express the correct information is sometimes kind of hard to do. Eventually though, most say the heck with it and just finally come "out" with the e-cig.
Some 'kids' I grew up with never have yet smoked in front of their parents. So I do understand the concept of wanting to avoid scrutiny.

*Madshock, you have a very good reason to be covert. That is so unfortunate, in the States however we have to fight all the time Government controls on everything. Sometimes it seems we're soon going your way. Governments have a way to make everyone feel their actions are in your interest.....in the case of e-cigs, they are cruelly missing the point.

this is a great thread!!! I've been vaping for a week now, and have felt the same uneasiness with people seeing me doing it.

I'm still a bit stealthy in the car, just because I'd rather not have to have a conversation with a police officer - I know it would probably turn out fine, as its not a controlled substance, but having to pull over and have the conversation, when I'm just trying to get to work or go home, would just be a pain

just this morning, I found the possible benefits of it as a conversation piece while on a commercial shoot (I'm a part-time actor). several crew members, and the director were smoking analogs while on breaks, and I openly vaped, blue LED a-blazing, resulting in some great conversations. It was a chance to talk, on a personal level, with people (some decision-makers) who might normally just keep everything on an impersonal all-business level. ...Ultimately, of course, I'd like to help spread the good word about how great these things are, as a way to quit smoking tobacco, but if it also helps a few people remember me when making casting desicions in the future, I won't complain! heh

understandable being uncomfortable around the analog users, however it could be a good conversation starter with them. most analog users that i have come in contact with have entertained the idea of quitting but are not fully aware of the alternatives they have other than the patch, gum, chantex. mind you i live in oklahoma where minds stay closed usually to anything outside the norm. im in the telecommunications industry and 90% of the guys that are in my shop are nicotine addicts such as myself....well really its the only way to stay balanced with all the bs expected of us. with my open use of my pv all the smokers in my shop save 1 have made the switch. my boss has even started to vape and has started to work on a proposition to local directors of (insert telecom giant name here) to help people switch if they show interest. sorry about the tangent but i thought i would share some of my experience with the analog crowd

If I could afford it, I would buy a dozen disposables and say, "here, try it for awhile" and I guarantee there would be at least 10 looking into e-cigs seriously.
It worked exactly that fast for me, the day I got my NPro I was DONE smoking (I was amazed at how CLEAN it felt and smelled!), and I was screwing up royally...the thing gurgled and I was drawing so hard my cheeks hurt...then I made the mistake of blowing into the mouthpiece to "clear" it out.....What happened? The juice ran all the way into the battery and that went berserk, and also burned out the atty. Thankfully I had a replacement battery (you get two) and I had also ordered an extra atomizer. So I was ok for a couple days until my "cheapie" from China arrived along with some juice, saved my life all over again. NPRo did replace the parts, I think they knew I had not used it properly. I didn't find ECF until about three weeks later....found out how really dumb I was. But on your own it is a big challenge.
But, as you see below, that was the day I smoked my last cigarette. It already tasted AWFUL, and STUNK!! I had to go wash my hair.
I smoked for 44 years, heavily. I was on my last leg healthwise, I HAD to quit, but I loved my Tobacco in spite it was killing me.
In about 1½ weeks, it will be 18 months ago!!!!

At my age I could careless what others think. I still go outside like I was smoking an analog and had some of my smoking buddies the other day making fun of my Ego. I got a little ...... at one of the guys who kept on and on. I just looked at him and let him know that I'll still be vaping when his little cigars put him 6ft under. Hmm i guess I owe him an apology since I did use a few prime words in my comments.

My main point is don't worry about what other people think life is to short.

Well, I must confess, my eGo does look like a miniature telescope, and my delicious American Blend e-liquid from NicotiveNirvana does look like a urine specimen. :D

You know - when I first got my PV, I was definitely weird about it. I felt uncomfortable in bars or downtown. Then if I would take it out, I felt like I was answering questions all night long. At first it was amusing and kind of nice (in a way) to educate other people about it. But when you've been asked the same question 50 times in a row, it loses its amusement pretty quickly. So, I would occasionally just smoke cigarettes when we were out.

But one day I just decided enough was enough. I just carry business cards from ModernVapor with me now, and hand them when people ask questions - They can look it up on their own time.

I use a SD MK II and just cup it in my hand and stealth vape since no one knows what it is. Going on 8 months without a ciggy now!!:D

I too like to vape my MKII in public because it contours to the palm. The pinky finger used to activate it helps with hiding practically the hole thing in your palm.

LR cartos on it are the bomb.
