What's a Provari????

Kidding! Sort of - I have never actually investigated it but I have heard it mentioned from time to time....to time to time.. :D It's not the question of what's the best, it's the question of what's the best advice for a noob. If you had suggested to me a big thingy that cost more than 2 weeks worth of cig's I would have curled up in a ball with my fingers in my ears. It took me a month to figure out the difference between a carto and clearo!

Now after 8 weeks of vaping.....well, different story.... :vapor:

I've vaped for quite some time - started with a disposable, then ego-t .. long story short my experience evolved into getting a plethora of PV's from the Silver Bullet, to the other Altsmoke PV (forgot the name atm), to custom mods made by Shan, Apex Alpha, Reos, Phideas, Provari V1, Darwin, Mini Provari etc etc etc you get the point.

Currently I am using the ProVari Mini and have been for well over 6months, everyday - allday with a LR dual coil carto. Best set up for me. Quality of the ProVari is unrivaled. It works and works and works. I drop it all the time. Same with the Darwin I might add. It simply works and the fact its VV means I can use whatever Atomizer/Carto I want.

To mock vapers who love their ProVari is pretty low. Bottom line - it is one of the most reliable PV's out there. ProVape is an outstanding company. I'm not saying there aren't others out there; say the GG or any of notcigs pv's. But it's definatly in the top tier of PV's.

Just try to contribute and help new vapers out. They do not need the ProVari for a first ecig, but if they're on ECF they're already more educated than the normal person on the street buying disposables from a gas station that do not work worth a damn.

in the same vein to mock people who prefer PVs other than the Provaris is equally low. There was quite a bit of that going on in that thread as well. Like I said earlier it was the bile and vitriol on both sides that really made my head explode and wasn't appropriate for newbies to see.

NO ONE IS MOCKING VAPERS who LOVE Provaris!!!!! That is not what I said and I think you should read what I said before you "knock" me.

BTW, most new people come on this forum to LEARN. Many new posters know very little or NOTHING about vaping when they come to this place. I can read, too.

To quote Jen: "It's not the question of what's the best, it's the question of what's the best advice for a noob. Oh, what the heck. I am just going to buy a Provari. Can I get a PINK one?

Don't waste your money. I got one and it doesn't impress me at all. It sits in a drawer. I have other mods I like better, but with all the people saying the Provari was so much better than everything else I just had to buy one. Silly me.

Why say you have to avoid the new members forum because of provari fanboys only to bring it here to the general forum? They'd only follow you, and they did. I like you, Chellemmm, but I think er'body needs to chillax and let be. This is a weekly argument, both points are made and argued ad nauseum (sp?), and that's about it.

Any Provari thread outside of a technical question usually devolves into an argument. Wisdom would suggest to just let it go. There will always be Provari "fanboys/girls". And usually it's people who own them vs. people who don't. Don't let anyone talk down to you because they have a Provari and you don't. But at the same time, if you keep seeing "Just buy a Provari" -- which has become almost an in-joke these days -- and your blood pressure starts to rise, just click "back", skip over the thread, and find something more edifying.

We control our actions and behavior here, and 99.99% of the time, it's best to just bite your tongue and move along. Forum one-upmanship counts for very little, and usually, no one wins.

Thanks Rocket! I originally posted this in OUTSIDE, but it was moved here. I like you, too, but it is hard to "bite my tongue" when people think I am insulting their rigs and insult my dog. I was trying to help someone last night, told them to take it easy, get to know how to vape for a bit and THEN get a Provari if they desired. I was in no way insulting the equipment or the people who used it, I was trying to point out that vaping is very confusing to people new to the sport and the "P" thing was maybe not the best thing to learn on. Discussion escalated and I feel and felt very attacked.

Well, if they insulted your dog, "have at thee, knave!" ;-) :)

I understand your point. For brand new vapers who want to start out but bypass the cigalikes, I always suggest an eGo passthrough first. The reason I do this is because people who have zero experience with e-cigs have SO MANY CHANCES to "mess up" with VV. Mismatched delivery devices, "crank it to the max" mentality... it can go wrong very quickly. Also, whenever I try to explain VV/ohms to a complete noob, I can see their eyes glaze over and I know I lost them completely.

Suggesting a Provari to a brand new noob isn't wise. Letting them know there are options out there should they take to vaping, should be sufficient. A "true" vaper will eventually jump the learning curve. That's when the metal's hot and it's time to strike.

P.S. Don't let anybody talk bad about your dog. I have two guinea pigs, and if someone badmouthed my babies, it's go time. ;-)

EDIT: I am by no means a moderator, but I can see why you chose to post this outside the main forums. That was a smart move, but unfortunately it didn't work out the best. :( Sorry your intentions got skewed through no fault of your own.

All over the place
I think I will buy my 16 year old niece a PORSCHE so she can learn to drive.

Sheesh! As I sit here vaping my one and only PV, a ProVari, I can't help but TOTALLY get what the OP was saying--how could anyone not? If someone would have pushed a ProVari on me when I was still trying to figure out what a freakin' TARYN SPIN was, I would have been totally over vaping. Seriously!

I have an uncle who was, much to his dismay, one pin away from a perfect a game at bowling once--I say that to show his bona fides at that (he's really good). When I was much younger I asked him about purchasing a ball, what kind of core I should get, finger spacing and all of that. His reply was, "learn how to bowl!" (and he meant with a house ball). My point isn't that a wonderful ball (or piece of equipment) to start is bad, but if someone doesn't know how, in this example, to bowl, why talk about cores? If someone asks simple questions--questions that clearly show the level a vaper is at--they should receive advice that corresponds to where they are, not where the wonderfully knowledgeable responder is.

Ex. Hi ECF, total newb here. I have watched a couple youtube videos about NJOY and I am wondering what a cartomizer is? Is this thing I screw on my ecig a cartomizer?

Response: Well, first let me tell you about ohm's law and why you need to get a ProVari.

I was lucky. When I first started I started because of a thread on a gaming forum about ecigs. The people there were terrific about answering questions and pointing out a decent starter kit. In fact THEY sent me to ECF. :)

Except for one abortive attempt last summer with a gas station ecig I pretty much bypassed the cigalikes. I started with the Ego-C Starter kit. Which if I knew then what I knew now I would have grabbed the one with clearomizers instead of the ego tank system. It was however a not all bad place to start.

I have a stupid bad habit of over researching everything so I have spent the last 24 days watching videos and web searching and reading here.

Once my vape mail comes in over the next 3 days or so I will be set up with a Vammo, a protank, 3 CE5s(say what you want I like them), a selection of juices, and a ton of extra heads for both the protank and the CE5s. I also have on order a pack of carto's for that junky battery left over from the gas station kit. I figure use it till it dies/waste not want not.

Not all newbies will do the amount of research I did. Not alot have the time or patience to do so.

I am sure the provari is a great device. I also feel personally it is overkill for an absolute beginner. Heck the vammo would have been overkill for me 24 days ago.
