I use denatured alcohol to preserve specimens and you definitely don't want to rub it on anything (I wear glove & goggles). The "rubbing alcohol" you get at the drug store is diluted Isopropyl, I have a bottle of 91% in front of me.;

I agree, denatured alcohol is not the same as rubbing alcohol ...

Most people think specimens are preserved in formaldehyde, but that's generally not true. Formaldehyde is used as the fixative, and then denatured alcohol is the preservative (in the jars).

My other bottle says 91% isopropyl. Neither say rubbing alcohol.

You're fine! Anything labeled 91% or higher Isopropyl ss what you want to clean your gear with!

Everything else is for other applications.

"Complicated" is what I worry about. People sometimes don't think things through and a gallon of denatured alcohol at a hardware store is less expensive than a bottle of "rubbing alcohol" at a drug store.

Good point. I keep forgetting that people use alcohol (of any kind) for non-e-cig related purposes.

Yes. I usually have as high a percentage as I can get, but I use it for other applications.
