I'm not sure where mostlyclassics got that info, but denatured alcohol is not rubbing alcohol. I use denatured alcohol to preserve specimens and you definitely don't want to rub it on anything (I wear glove & goggles). The "rubbing alcohol" you get at the drug store is diluted Isopropyl, I have a bottle of 91% in front of me.;

I agree, denatured alcohol is not the same as rubbing alcohol ...

My cat's favorite toy was the "tin" paper wrapping that came on top of my Camel Lights. If I started "packing" a pack, she'd come running and meow at my feet. I found those damn things everywhere. In my bed, my shower, my closet, even my sink and toilet, all balled up and chewed on.

Now I have guinea pigs. I kid you not, they know I'm awake in the morning when they hear the crackling of a cartomizer. Then they start chomping and shaking the cage: WE WANT CARROTS.

It's complicated... You are correct and he is also correct... sort of...

Rubbing alcohol, USP / Surgical spirit, B.P. is a liquid prepared and used primarily for topical application. It is prepared from a special denatured alcohol solution and contains approximately 70 percent by volume of pure, concentrated ethanol (ethyl alcohol) or isopropyl alcohol (isopropanol).[1] Individual manufacturers can use their own "formulation standards" in which the ethanol content usually ranges from 70-99% v/v.[2] In Ireland and the UK, the equivalent skin preparation is surgical spirit, which is always an ethyl alcohol-isopropyl alcohol mixture. It is colorless. The melting point is -89 °C. The boiling point is 82.5 °C.
The term "rubbing alcohol" has become a general non-specific term for either isopropyl alcohol (isopropanol) or ethyl alcohol (ethanol) rubbing-alcohol products.

Is that rubbing alcohol??

No, Isopropyl alcohol is not rubbing alcohol!

My other bottle says 91% isopropyl. Neither say rubbing alcohol. :blink:

You're fine! Anything labeled 91% or higher Isopropyl ss what you want to clean your gear with!

Everything else is for other applications. :D

"Complicated" is what I worry about. People sometimes don't think things through and a gallon of denatured alcohol at a hardware store is less expensive than a bottle of "rubbing alcohol" at a drug store.

"Rubbing alcohol" has become a generic term for the topical alcohol you find in a drug store. It's like Kleenex or eGo...

Good point. I keep forgetting that people use alcohol (of any kind) for non-e-cig related purposes. :p

You should PM Myranny. I hear she is looking for some cinnamon red hot juice...
Yay! Anything except cinnamon red hot. My vape store had a free sample but I forgot to add the freebie to the order. Thought I might have missed out on something really good but apparently not...

:lol:
