I just got a aerotank mega and some of the new coils kanger has upgraded to. Has anyone had these issues where it's only going good for about 3-4 days a week if lucky? Also notice that on the old ones I would have my mvp set at 9w and everything peachy but now on the upgrades I do 9w I'm burning the juice.

I have an Aerotank Mega and I will let you know if I have the same problem (if I can ever put the Protank 2 down). I think the tank is great, the airflow is fantastic, the vapor production is good, but the flavor is not as great and the hits arent all that hard. I think Ill end up getting a bunch of those older Aerotank dual coil heads and do some custom dual-coil jobs :D

I know that usually people rebuild as single coils, but I think the dual coil setup might be worth it. OTOH, my protank 2 single coil hits better than the Aerotank Megas coil.

I got you there. I guess Im still clueless when it comes to where all the wattage choices come from. Like, if an MVP with a protank puts out a great vape at 9 watts, what does a DNA30 exist for? 30 watts seems ridiculous unless youre doing an RDA or something.

I say that loosely- I am still in major vape noob territory. Gotta setup that works great for me though :) :vapor:

You're on the right track. 30 watts is for the sub-ohmmers. If someone else does this for you, please forgive my duplication

V=IR (voltage = amps * resistance)
W = V*V/R (Watts = volts squared/resistance) or W=VI

I gotta do simple math, but let's say 3 volts and 1Ω coil

I = V/R -> I = 3/1 = 3 Amps. Then V*V/R = 3*3/1 = 9 watts

drop the coil to .5Ω

I = 3/0.5 = 6 Amps. Then VI = 3 * 6 = 18 Watts. Now outside the range of the MVP

3 Volts is pretty low voltage drop (and I'm not sure of a mod that will fire at that voltage). Take it up to a more "normal" 3.7V

3.7/0.5 = 7.4 Amps. VI now becomes 3.7 * 7.4 = 27.4W You're now at 90% of your device's capabilities.

It's all in what you're looking for. Now, what's it like to sub-ohm? What do you get? I hear people talk about lots more flavor and lots more vapor. I just made my first batch of DIY last night, so *I* get to control the flavor. I'm running about 50/50 on my PG/VG ration (again, I get to control - to an extent) I'm a happy camper right where I am.

Again, sorry if this is a repeat. I saw your notification on my phone, but I needed to wait until I got in front of a computer (because I type infinitely faster on a real keyboard ;))

For the Mega owners...

Using the dual coil head...

28 gauge Kanthal
3mm diameter (I use the Coil Gizmo)
8 wraps will get you ~1.8 ohms
Sugar 'N Cream cotton yarn
Fold over one piece, thread through coil
Fold over a second piece, place over coil as flavor wick (closes dual coil gap)
Trim wicks short, dab with juice, reassemble and fill tank (don't forget the cotton swab in the tip to allow filling all the way)
Let it sit for 10 mins, crank to 11 watts and enjoy. I am using non-flavored 100% VG right now with no gurgles, popping or leaking. Tons of vapor.

Definitely looking forward to the Turbo. BTW my Mega is the $18 clone "kit" from FastTech, seems like a 1:1 to me.

I have some batteries that were ordered from Fasttech on 5/15. Tracking shows in transit from Malaysia on 05/26. Has been that way for 2 months. Fasttech states they have sent an Inquiry but must wait until 08/26 before they will replace. This is what gives them a bad reputation. It is quite obvious it is lost after 30 days in transit. If indeed they do send a replacement after 08/26 once can assume another month to receive. So 4 months for a battery order. Gee I can't remember why I ordered them now. Oh ya that's right. I needed them!

Well boys and girls it is now 07/24/14 and still "in transit". I suspect it will be fall before FastTech sends a replacement.

OK, can only guess this will be a big hit and the new gotta-have...

twin (2) dual coils mounted in a 6ml, glass, SS, airflow control
looks like Kanger wants to be the big dog on the block again
and the vaping wars rage on…

That is pretty ridiculous :D Imagine custom winding not one but FOUR of your own coils :vapor:

I love my MVP. I will use it until it dies. That said, the Cana is pretty dang boss.

I generally run a 2ohm kayfun at 4.2v, or a 1.4ohm dripper at 5v on my MVP. I tossed my dripper on the cana and bumped the wattage to hit 5v... Let's just say that the cana has shown the 'weakness' of the MVP.

Again, I really do love my MVP. And I thoroughly understand the limitations of the chipset. The cana is just in a whole other ballpark.

Because I'm a glutton though, I am also ordering an ipv2.

Ha ha...a vapor glutton, I think a lot of people in here fall into that category. I agree with Sando, the one I tried must have been faulty, but i did get a couple good toots on my .6 RDA and the clouds were as thick as could be.

I have been able to aviod shiny syndrome. Just have the MVP, VV3 and the one mech so far. The idea of 50 watts seems so cool and I think that may be my last APV purchase as the onloy other to get will be a 100 watt device, but I would not go that high.

I use my MVP with my Kayfun and they are a perfect match for cool volumes of vapor. I like to drip at home for more flavor and clouds though. Let us know when you get your IPV...We would love a full review

I have an Aerotank with dual coils (2.0 ohm) and I've been using some dark e-juice so it works great for 2-3 tank fulls (2.5ml ea). I pulled the coil and just ran it under hot water and then dry burned it to get the gunk off. The silica wicks won't burn like cotton. Works like new again.

That's what I'm doing. Longest coil so far went 12.5 days. I haven't gotten any burnt hits yet and am using 3 ATs.

In one of my previous posts I meant to write kanger coil and somehow my phone changed it to nabbed? Lol! Weird.

Sorry to hear about your issues. I've only placed 2 orders from Fasttech before I knew they were from China and I probably won't order from them again. I can find most stuff in the US for the same or very slightly higher prices.

From my flashlight addiction, I wouldn't order any batteries from China, especially anything with *fire (They're all playing off the SureFire name that's made in the USA). Currently, the highest reliable 18650 capacity is 3400mah. You will not find any reputable brand with a capacity higher than that.

I just ordered 2 purple Efest 18650 3100mah 20a batteries from Amazon for under $20 shipped. I don't sub-ohm so these are more than enough for me and they'll work well in my high powered flashlights too.

Hey! I just got a coil gizmo off Amazon, and it came with no instructions. Now while it's pretty straight forward, I don't know what mm which one is! Which one is the 3mm?

Oddly enough I got mine locally at Michael's crafts and it didn't have them either. It is the third smallest one.
Thank you! I put mine away after using it a few times because I seemed to get more inconsistent coils out of using it than just wrapping my big sewing needle like I had been. Wanted a bigger coil to work with though, but didn't know which one to work with. I was using the smallest.

Ok folks, I've had my MVP v2 for 2 months now. I have a problem, and I'm not sure how to fix it. I have always had a protank 2 mini on it, and up until a few days ago, I've been vaping with no problems. Now, I keep getting dry hits. I changed the coil, the tank has been at half full, let the wicks get wet... puff a few times, and BAM burnt taste. I haven't turned the volts up or down, cleaned the tank, and the battery is charged. I have a 2.2 ohm on it, and it's set at 3.5 volts. I've never had a problem with this before and I'm confused as to why it's happening. I've changed my coils twice this week, and about to be on my 3rd. Normally they last 7-10 days. Anyone got any leads as to why this might be happening? :confused:

I have the new dual coils in my aero mini and they work great.......when they do actually work. Think I get a few days at most. Plus about 20% just suck all together.
Shame cause I do like them.

Did you change your e-juice? Maybe thicker? Are the coils new/different?

There's a few videos to get the coils to work better on Kanger tanks that might help. It's much easier than you'd think.

best guess I come up with is quality of your coils
only thing that changed in your scenario
so sounds to me like you’re not having a power problem
but a coil wicking problem...

maybe a bad batch of coils (lord knows it happens)

so do you build coils yets ?

I think your best bet is to modify your ‘flavor-wick’
I say replace it with a piece of cotton, see what that brings ya
