i've been having the same thing on mine,... about 6 months in and the charge doesnt hold much any more and it occasioanlly freaks out and shuts down. i have to stick a portable battery usb into it and it restarts, which isnt too bad as i carry one with me always anyway.

six months sounds little, but unlike others it's been my one and only vape, day in day out, for six months, and its been brilliant. everything about it, the big charge, the VV, form factor, convenience, etc were all instrumental in me quitting the stinkies so for me its done its job.

looking for something with a bit more power now, but i miiiiiight get another as a back up :p

This is one of the reasons I was hesitant to get the MVP. I like replaceable batteries. My next box mod will most likely be a DNA30.

Being absent for a week I'm somewhat surprised to find I'm only 21 pages behind here! I'm weak as a kitten and still trying to catch up on email and FB too so it may take me awhile. Just wanted ya'll to know I got home yesterday despite the best efforts of the medical industry (see pics below). Folks are starting to get their rayon samples and I'm still more than willing to send out more. Thanks to all for the kind thoughts!

The left arm they just used for IV's and such. The right they tried to get a vein out of but said it was too damaged from a previous angioplasy. So they tore up my right leg too!

Ouch. Glad to hear you're back home and on the mend.

Maybe someone could give
me a suggestion here... I just got my Tobeco KFL+ in and i put a micro coil in it with 28g, around 10 wraps. Came out to around 1.6ohms. The coil is perfect, heating evenly from middle, etc. With a fully charged battery i'm not getting a very satisfying vape at 11w unless i give it about a second to heat up. I did change to voltage and at 5v's it's not bad.

I put it on my Vamo and 12.5w's was the sweet spot. Should i try wrapping a lower ohm coil or am i just hitting the devices limit and should just accept it?

I thought the same with my 28 ga, 10 wrap coil (1.7 ohm). I changed the wick and it works much better. I'm currently using 8w and it works great. I have my 3.1 on my V5 with a 1.5 ohm coil (28 ga) running 9w and it's also very good. I'm running slightly higher because I'm using dark e-juice (coffee and tobacco mix) and I'm seeing if the higher wattage lessens the buildup on the coil.

So...I posted a few days ago about problems I was having with some pre-made coils I'd bought for my (new) KFL+ (the MVP couldn't seem to heat up the coil properly, also low vapor production). Well...I got ...... off and decided to just bite the bullet and BUILD MY OWN COIL and, with help of you guys/gals I did!

fcSXcaW.jpg

12 (or 13?) wraps of 28G on a 5/64 drill bit...1.9ohms. It's hitting GREAT on the MVP. Not much time lag in heating up and tons of vapor! Turns out the pre made coils had HUGE diameters (...?). Don't know why I waited so long to try wrapping coils myself....

Thanks for everyone's help!

Thanks pal.

lol!

more better ;)

im a noob man- freely admit it. I figure the single coil performing better is due to me rebuilding it with custom wraps and cotton wicks. If i can make a single coil better than a dual coil, i start asking what i could do with a dual coil..

I hear you though. Thats why i mention things here- looking to vets to guide me, and maybe offer some info that is useful to someone else.

I know more isnt always better. There are plenty of 2.* liter imports ive driven that would destroy most 5.* muscle cars, etc. Just musing so you all might comment :d

I got over dual coils when they first came out in cartos. Two coils junked up and lost air flow twice as fast. I had to set the voltage higher cuz it was going to two coils and I wasn't seeing twice the vaper or flavor. I'm not that bright either so when I figured out I need 12.5 watts on the Vamo to get a decent vape on 2.5 ohm duals I just went back to the KISS principle.

kierster - i too am charging the mvp this morning (it's one of those, "rotate through all the devices and get them recharged" kind of days :d)

i love my little evods (they're my primary tanks) but i do have my kf lite loaded with my very first homemade "blueberries & cream" that i mixed up earlier this week. Sweet, smooth, ahhhhh.

Forgive me for being way off-topic, but i have a kf mini with a 30g, 1.8 ohm coil wrapped around a 1/16" bit, and i cannot consistently draw off this without getting a burnt hit. Should i try a bigger diameter wrap? I've played with all kinds of v/w settings on the mvp - i'm seeing the air bubble rise after my draws....

Still pretty new in the kf rebuild world (but i love them when they work right....)

I could do no wrong my first month with the Russian $21.86 Russian 91% Styled Rebuildable Atomizer (4.5mL) at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping. Then I got a Kayfun and some PMMA parts and the dry hits started, on the Russian too. I had to build the cotton wicks just right to wick correctly but not flood. The juice slots also have to allow air into the tank or you get dry hits (vapor lock). IMO the Cellucotton is much more forgiving to my ham-handed ways. I'm much happier with the rayon wicking!

holy crap man are you ok ? Looks like you took a spill on your bike and used your forearms to break the fall . Take some time to settle in , i will contact you to try rayon in a few days .

I hit a deer on the bike, landing on my hip, in 2010. That's what started my whole wonderful adventure into the medical system. April of '13 was hip atroscopy which failed. Jan '14 was a Birmingham hip resurfacing. And now the double bypass with a leaky valve repair just for good measure. I've had my belly full of doctors and hospitals for the time being thank you very much!

I think double coils are the issue. I'll use it tomorrow without double coils and see how many puffs it gives. Theoretically, half of it should be the life on double coils. Fortunately mine doesn't shut down, but I didn't use it for 5 months so that's 4 months of real use. Too little.

Ouch! the only reminder of my plumbing late may was this 2014-07-28 02.31.47.jpg and another like it in the crotch, not suitable for photographing ;), got myself 2 stents after a heart attack but it was an easy ride compared to yours. Take it easy, I'm still recovering. If you're taking statins, ask your doctor for Ubiquinone (Coenzime Q10) as a complement. It helped me heal so fast and took away the heart pain in no time. Lots and lots of studies on Ubiquinone and miocardium... My dad won several prizes for an angioplastic rubber replacement, now many surgeons consider it old, but in situations like yours it would have been much better. Peace, take down your nic and read a lot!!!

everyone was all  with the first aspire bdc
enuff that I finally got one - not very impressed...

then the nautilus came out with that big coil
raves and praise all over, then kinda died out... $$

now this bvc is the hot ticket, so I'll just hold off till
a few hundred-thousand circulate and the reviews hold true...

if I was in need of something that works good, then maybe worth the risk
but with the price $ tag on those things...

guess I'll stick with what I got for now...

:)

- Atomizer head for Aspire Nautilus BVC (V2)

- Aspire Nautilus BVC Coils (Pack of 5) - $13.95 - WORLDofVAPE

Right now I'm using the eLeaf mini... BDC, vapes like crazy and it costs about Eleaf iJust atomizer - Eleaf BCC-GT Bottom Dual Coil Glass Cartomizer - 1.6ml Doesn't vape that well on the previous iSmoka/Vapeonly plastics, but on the little one vapes like crazy.

As too the dual coil vs. single coil dilemma - The technical side of me says that 2.2 ohms is the same resistance whether in one coil or as a result of two and therefore dual coils shouldn't consume more power but the experienced vaper in me says "Wrong". To get two 4.4ohm coils good and hot one has to up the voltage and lay into the power button a bit longer. I started vaping on dual coils (Vivis) and was a strong proponent until I tried a Kanger T3S. I could not believe how much vapor came out of these things AND they were super easy on my Batt. life. In closing I'd like to point out that both the Kayfun and the new Nautilus BVC are single coil designs.

here i go again, i too use 28ga with the MVP but i double tap the button alot of times to get what i want; at the 7 -8 second point on your button press let go of the button then re-press it and it will pick rite back up to complete your vape....

as stated by most others 30- 32- gauge is preferred on the MVP for a complete great Vape....personally i like my coils between 1.3 and 2.0.....1.5 to 2.0 would be optimal, performance wise on the MVP...enjoy the :vapor:

Now this raises a question to me.....i have heaps of single coils for my Evod & mini protank 2 tanks that I will be using on my MVP 2 when it arrives. (tomorrow according to DHL...woohoo). The majority of my coils are 2.5 ohm and up (I tested all of them tonight and they vary from 2.45 to 2.98)....being the MVP is VV/VW, what then is the suggested optimal volts or watts for these coils?

I am planning on getting stuff to build my own at the next pay period (August) so if a lower ohm is best, I will be able to build em

Help?

Nancy

I believe Sando was referring to the wire used on the Kayfun on the MVP. I too use 28 and it does take a bit longer to heat up, but I will take 2-3 puffs during one long button press. Kinda like when you puff a cigar to get more smoke. My coil is over 4 months old and just cleaned and rewicked this morning.

I don't think that little 1.3 ohm guy will ever give out.

Viva LA 28 ;)

Kiwi, you'll love your MVP. I have two - they're my workhorses :)

For the existing heads you have, you might try about 2V + the resistance of the head. So, if you have a 2.5Ω coil, try running upwards of 4.5V. Personally, I'd start low and nudge my way up until it just gets nasty. Volts setting or watts setting is your preference. With the varying resistance, you might want to go watts just to keep it simpler. Pick one of the middle resistance coils and set based on that head. Then, if your resistance is a little over/under, it won't be too much of a different vape.

For rebuilding on a kanger head, I really prefer 30g. I did try 28 on one of my kayfuns, but I didn't like how long it took to heat up - Kierster digs it. So, it all goes to show, what I like you may not and vice versa :) Also tried the 28 on the kanger head, and I could not get enough wraps to have enough resistance to fire my MVP. With a rebuildable deck like a kayfun, you have a little more room in which to work, unlike the kangers. I have a little bit of 32g left as well. It heats up more quickly than the 30g. I'm playing a bit with things to see if bigger diameter, fewer wraps, more space between winds, etc. guides me one way or another. I do find that I prefer about 1.7-1.9Ω on my coil heads.

Good luck and happy :vapor:

Totally agree with Dinger. Everyone finds what works best for them. I happened to make my first with 28 cause that is all I had. I am sure to try other gauges when this bad boy gives out.

Have the week off for a staycation here in sunny hot Brandon, Fl. Grab some pool time with my 7 yr old girl, see grandma, ice skating at the mall, go carts, and with me will be my trusty MVP with my new KFL M tank. Heavenly week for me ;)

couldn't have said it any better........

......@ Kiwiboo, on another note, now for some unknown reason pre-made coils that you buy and screw into the tanks and what-not preform quite different than your own twisted ones.....like kier said your own twisted ones last alot longer.....

most of the comments & advise i give on coils are basiclly for RDA/RBA's, this is where my experience has been; i'm not a Tank guy anymore unless it's a Carto......once you start dripping you cannot ever go back imo you get spoiled so bad from the great taste nothing even compares, but the Carto Tanks, KF and some of your RBA's come real close tho....you will enjoy wrapping your own & you can experiment until you find your preference....enjoy the :vapor:
