Kayfun Prime by SXK or YFTK? (Attack of the clone)

Accidently ordered 2 pairs of scissors, to get it removed I ended up having to pay them more. I actually had to pay them more for less. Said it was a problem with their system handling shipping cost but will give me a voucher. Told them they can shove their voucher, I wouldn't pay them any more money to use it.

Received my YFTK Prime and I'm really enjoying it! It looked very clean though I did wash it anyway before use. All the threading and machining is good. The small chamber size is not easy to build with my old eyes. I may need to buy a desktop magnifier. But it produces great flavor. Very pleased!

With the YFTK Prime, I'm getting a little bit of flooding and leaking out of the air flow when I refill. Seems to be easily fixed with a quick clean up but it is annoying. There's some discussion on FT forums and seems others have prevented the problem by changing an o-ring on the deck. I will buy some o-rings with my next order.

Based on what I've read on FT forums, it seems like folks are needing to swap o-rings on the SXK clone as well. So both clones seem to have o-ring issues.

No other concerns so far. And the vape from the YFTK Prime is really good!

Kayfun O-Rings. My Ulton (Prime) came best of all, just no problems. The SXK (Prime & V5) needed o-ring maintenance.

Having said that, KF and O-rings is a bit of a can of worms.

Saw this the other day, Vaping Biker compares Siren, Kayfun 5 and Hurricane V2. He remarks on an authentic KF V5 about topcap o-ring issues.



Stuck topcaps, leaking tanks, stuck and/or resistant JFC complaints abound on the internet for both the clones and the authentic tanks.

The major offenders are,
V5:
1x10 (12 OD) Deck Bottom (AFC)
1x10 (12 OD) Deck Top (JFC)
1x11 (13 OD) Deck Middle (JFC)
1x11 (13 OD) Topcap Outer Ring

Prime:

1x10 (12 OD) Deck Bottom (AFC)
1x10 (12 OD) Deck Top (JFC)
1x8 (10 OD) Deck Middle (JFC)
1x11 (13 OD) Topcap Outer Ring​

I have finally even gotten my LieFeng clones working good by swapping O-rings.

I got my O-rings from Cream de Vape (Part price good, shipping high).

Instead of swapping all, I just swap the one(s) causing the problem(s) that made it too much to deal with.

But...…
As you'll see if you read through the Fasttech discussion link, and if you spend enough time reading complaints on ECF, Reddit, YouTube...… and... and... and...

The pattern develops that all KF's are not built the same, and it is even possible to get different tolerances within manufacturers, including the authentic.

Better O-rings often helps. Sometimes you may need to use slightly different size(s) to overcome an issue (or to super fine tune).

Someone even suggested using silicone instead of NBR70 (70 are basically the pliable ones, opposed to 90 that are hard) as silicone is more slippery. NBR tougher, stretch more, silicone more slippery.

Fasttech seems to have a variety of sizes, of both if you poke around (but are they food grade? Are authentic food grade? Probably not).

I might try my Prime clone again today. I feel cruddy, so adding frustration to the mix can't hurt. This time I am going to watch a ton of videos and read up on JFC, because I know there is something I fundamentally wrong with what I'm doing, just not sure what it is.

No promises. LOL.

I tried one of the tricks from FT forums and it seems to work. The only differences are... I inverted the RTA before closing the liquid flow control. Also, I vaped afterwards (previously I had put it away after refilling). Everything else was done the same.

So... invert and close the liquid off, turn it right side up, open and refill, close the cap, open the liquid flow, vape, and then put away.

How goes the battle? KF, I have a real love/hate relationship with them I have to agree with the person who said you have to fiddle with them. I'm guessing some may get lucky, perfect O-rings, environment, vaping pace, vg/pg ratio, wicking, wattage, jfc adjustment...…..

Me, I've had to work at it It does have a unique taste. But the Siren is just so easy, dependable and better airflow range.

I started looking at reviews, but I have not dug it out yet. IDK. I'm starting to feel better but I just don't want to fail. Again. Plus I need to wash it, and well, disassembly/assembly of that tank isn't my favorite chore. Kind of doing more DIY at the moment since it appears I may start work this month.

I would like to gladly eat crow. 3F was able to make an offer to make up for the loss. The package made it to my U.S. address yesterday. I just got pictures of the contents and confirmed they did make good on it. It will be a week before I can test the SJMY KF V5. But 3F did deliver, in very good time, considering it was just before the week long Autumn Festival I'm impressed.

I also have a package from 2F that is tracking two days behind, the 2F items where specified 3 to 5 business days (3F was 24hrs) so I'm just as happy with 2F's shipping. I'm hoping the Ulton Typhoon V4 build is as good as their Prime. Totally different animal, but I wanted to get something a little more airy once in a while.

Since I got the Prime clone, I've packed away everything else. It's become my all day vape except for when I need to use a small pod device for convenience.

Right now I'm running 3 Siren V2's, 2 clone KF V5's, and one Nautilus clone. I'm also using a Aries Pro core that came with my first Primo Mini just cuz I feel like more air sometimes, but I will dump that for the Typhoon.

I put the Primes away, but only because I'm seeking more open draw, strange though I don't want to let the Nautilus go.

It only takes a small resistance caused voltage loss on the 510 pin to make a difference at the voltages we vape with Kayfuns. Gold would help with the contact point at the 510 connection, but dissimilar metals in the chain can compound resistance issues.

It's interesting to me that Silver is better than Copper or Gold in terms of electrical resistance. Most all metals in the table are better than Stainless Steel. Stainless Steel is 13th.

I have an authentic and it's perfectly sealed when JFC is closed, it's not leaking even on the airplane. Completely headache free RTA, everything just works.

I don't know how long it's been since you roller coastered, but dude, they tell you to "empty your pockets."

So, unless you want to hold it in your hand, grinning (for full capture on the roller coaster photo you can buy at some places) it might be a good test for DURABLITY.

Lack of leakage? Not so much.

SXK Prime JFC really started to stick. It is o-ring #11. Back on page 1 is someone else showing the same problem and comparing the O-rings between SXK and Ulton. I looked through the spares for SXK and the correct one is not there. I got 3 sets of Prime spares from Crème de Vape and used one of the #11's and now JFC is gliding. Still no leaking or gurgling.

Kind of suspicious of the poster DG as they joined and only posted on this thread pumping the SXK Prime.

Nedeljko who posted on page one was spot on. The Ulton Prime beats the SXK. If I ever get another V5 clone I'll try the Ulton or possibly the SMJY. But I think it may be worth just getting the V5 authentic with the mtl kit.

I'm sorry that you are suspicious of me. Not much I can do about that other than try and assure you and everyone else that I am not a shill for SXK. Still enjoying both of my Prime clones. If that's not good enough, I'm sorry about that.

If anyone is still having issues with leaking or hard to turn juice flow, try silicone O-rings in the sizes listed on the authentic Prime spec sheet or buy a pack of the authentic o-rings.
