Whats up yall? I'm looking for a clearomizer cuz I want to be able to, at a glance, instantly tell how much juice i have left. Also, imo they just look cooler. So I've been reading a bunch of reviews and from what i've seen so far have narrowed it down to the 2 listed in the title. I Just started vaping a couple weeks ago. Got a V2cigs start kit which use kr808's for anyone not familiar with them. i got 1 auto & 1 manual battery both are 4.2v, 250mA/H. Aparently the V2cigs cartos are 2.9 ohms, and they work pretty good for me. So Looking for something in the similar range. noticed that the vortex2 only comes in 2.4ohm or 3.5ohm So i'd be going down to 2.4 from 2.9 (significantly more vapor production or shortening of battery life???) and the Fluxo's can be had in 2.6-2.8ohm which is about as close as i'm gonna get.

So i'm wondering if anyone here has used both? and which they prefer and why??? Also I like my E-cig to be as close to a real cig (in size) as possible, so to seriously consider the fluxo's I'd probably wait until they get some the regular sized ones in as opposed to the XL's. Also I can't tell how long the vortex2's are

Also if anyone could give me the physical dimensions of all 3 (the vortex2, and the fluxo's in both regular and XL) it would be greatly appreciated because apparently the manufacturers and/or the retailers (gotvapes in this case) are too lazy to supply this informative product information.... HUGE pet peve of mine when a manufacturer and/or supplier can't provide such simple, and imo necessary (for many things), product information, plus its just a bad business practice to not include such information, one of the biggest drawbacks of buying things online.

Bottom Line up top: Everybody is going to have their own opinion. You have to try 'em to know what you like.

But it's important to note that you can't equate resistance levels among the different designs. A 2.4ohm flux is very different than a Vortex or a fillered carto at the same ohms. You're gonna have to try 'em to match your taste.

honestly, upgrade to a battery mod and use vision cartos, best cartos to date.
I'm still new to this, so maybe i'm mistaken (feel free to correct me if i am) but i thought the 510 batteries were much larger than the kr808's if so then i have NO interest in them period. As I stated in my OP, i want to stay as close in size to a real cig. I dont' want a big old "E-stogie". I don't care if they produce more vapor or have to be recharged less or whatever, just NOT interested. the kr808's work for my needs and I want to simulate a real cig as much as possible. Anything bigger and I'll use a full blown legit vaporizer..... but that's another topic all together :D Having said all that, I only see those vision cartos in 510's not 808's

Yes and thats what i'm trying to get is everyones opinions. I realize there will be differences is things like the way it hits and such with different desings by different producers, etc. Then there is the other side... some things are not opinions at all but facts, like the way electricity works, I don't care if its a flux or vortex or benjamin franklin and a key hanging from a kite, electricity is electricity. I'm not an electrician, but i know its universal and works the same for everyone...... just like gravity. I was reading somewhere that if using the wrong ohms (to little) with too high a battery voltage that it will pre maturely degrade the battery. So thats not really an opinion its based on how electricty works. Just not sure how much a difference there would be from ~2.4ohm to ~2.8ohm as it pertains to this situation. Also I wanna hear about build quality. I read/whatched some reviews on the vortex 2 where one person said it doesn't leak at all, and another said it did, so Basically the more people that put their 2 cents in, the better more informed decision i can make.

I'm not really basing my decision on the ohms.... as long as i know it's not so mismatched that it will prematurely degrade my battery. I am just trying to get a feel for how much that difference of ohms will affect the vapor production. But mostly I want to just get more of a feel for the overall product quality and useability.... and from an unbiased point of view... not from the company who makes them, or product description, because of course they will make their own products out to be good or better or even the best

Ive tried both the Vortex and the fluxo on my 808. For me, the fluxo wins hands down. Both of the regular sizes run about the same size as a standard carto, so its not like there is a real big difference there. Though both have a great flavor, for me what sends the fluxo to the top is I prefer a warm vapor, and cleaning and reuse. To clean a fluxo, rinse with hot water, dry, then do a dry burn, rinse again, and its will perform almost like new with no hint of the flavor of the previous juice. I still have a couple of fluxos from my very first fluxo order from over a month ago. My experience with Vortexs wasnt all that great. But I may have had a bad pack of them too. I had three that wouldnt wick to the coil causing a dry hits, and the other two ended up leaking at the threaded end once the juice got down to a certain level. However, fluxos need a bit of tinkering to get them to wick juice to the coil well. Ive found that just removing the gasket from the cup, throwing it away, then flipping over the thinner gasket and placing it directly on the cup works great.

But, as stated above, give both of them a shot and find out what works best for you. If you buy both, and find a preference, at least you will of the other style as a back up.

Good luck!

***btw, all of mine come from GotVapes, and they do/did have both for an 808.

Just some simple things to keep in mind here. nearly all clear carto's will be fatter (similar to the difference of a camel wide to a regular cig. The thicker wall needed will add some girth to it. 510's are slightly skinnier (.5 mm) than an 808 battery. I have found that with the V2 clearo's, like the Flux, that an 808 battery, with adapter and a 510 flux gives a nice smooth diameter across the PV.

I have not tried the vortex or the new V3 FLUX with the "NEW indestructible plastic tubing" as I am still using up the 50 V2 ones I have. GV does sell the 510 to 808 adapter so if you find that the 808 clears are too wide you can always try an adapter with a 510 one.

I would just get an adapter and 1 box of both and see what you like. 2.8 to 3 ohm will likely do the trick for you. Any carto has a +/-.1 Ohm variance, as nichrome wire used for the heating element is almost never exactlly the same.

My all day, every day vape is Vortex 2 on 280Mah KR808d-1 automatic batteries. I haven't had any of the problems with Vortex 2s that others have reported, although I've been using them almost exclusively for a couple of months. They are much easier to fill than fluxos, fit better in my pcc and provide excellent vapor production and flavor. I haven't measured them but they are fairly long, probably a little longer than fluxo XLs. I thought, apparently incorrectly, that GV would be replacing them with Vortex 3 so I stocked up. You never know how "new and improved" is going to work out.

Mega 510 is a stick (cigarette-style) battery with a decent life-time between charges (280 mah). It's a bit longer than an 808 battery, and a little slimmer - quite elegant, actually, and in my opinion feels more like an analog cig. The only caveat is that it's much better as a manual (button-activated). Reason being that, unlike an 808 auto, the switch is audio activated (as opposed to an 808 which is pressure-activated), which means that it turns on from loud noises, which is a huge nuisance. I should say, however, that a manual battery works better than even an 808 auto, much as I am fond of the 808s. IMHO, of course.

Or you can get an 808 to 510 adapter.

Using a 510 gives you a choice of a wider range of cartos. Fluxos are great, but I would suggest that you try a Visions Extreme Stretch. It is exactly the diameter of a 510 stick, and it vapes better than anything else, I think.

Just :2c:

Have fun. :) :vapor:

So Cal
Let me remind all that kr808 is 3.7 volt. 510 is 3.2 - 3.4.
Some places do offer 510 eGo style batteries that are 3.7V UN-regulated. Personally my sweet spot is between 4.0v and 4.4v depending on what juice I'm vaping. All I use now is FLüXOMIZER DeLuXe. There is some fiddle factor but once you mod them they work awesome.

Visions are a great vape, but seem to gunk up a lot faster than fluxos for me, and always seem to have major gurgling/leaking after I clean them. Vortex are also a very good vape, and I like their cooler vape, but also seem to gunk up fast (I vape at least 80% VG) and I have no success with cleaning them - they always leak after I try to clean and re-assemble. Fluxos are a very good vape (with the seal modded), and the new ones really do seem to be indestructible, I've been using the same two fluxos for almost a month and they're still going strong - and they're easy to clean and reassemble.

I think Bad said that they were not going to restock the regular fluxos and would carry only the XL, so if an extra 1/2 inch length is unacceptable, then I'd go with the visions.

Thank you everyone for your posts... good valuable info, keep it coming. So far seems like most people prefer the fluxos. I was gonna do a poll but apparently its not an option.

510's come in slim cig like batts too :)

Last cigarette 16th October, 2011. Forever grateful for the support and advice from ECF.

Really? WTF... see this is exactly why i can't stand when the manufacturer/retailer is too lazy to post the dimensions. From what i've seen, pics and such, the 510's look like 1.5-2 times the size (diameter) as the 808's. If that is the case, then what is the point in having 510's and 808's if they are made in different sizes, might as well stick with one thread size.... sort of defeats the purpous of having a standard, or at least greatly reduces it.

So from what you said and another poster... if i understand correctly... the 510 are actually smaller, not larger, than the 808's (in both physical size and voltage)???

Just some simple things to keep in mind here. nearly all clear carto's will be fatter (similar to the difference of a camel wide to a regular cig. Are you saying that if i got 808 clearo's (any brand, or at least most?) and attached it to the 808 battery, that the clearo and battery wouldn't line up flush... the clearo would have a wider diameter than the battery?.... going by your example.... it would be like having a camel wide ..../filter on regular cigarette? thats just stupid... that would annoy me more than the extra length.

***mini rant, lol*** Sometimes i see such stupid $h!t.... who would design something like this. I'm gonna have to design my own damn e-cigs from the ground up***

Let me remind all that kr808 is 3.7 volt. 510 is 3.2 - 3.4.
Ummm... no my 808 is 4.2v the first or second reply said i should "mod" to a 510 battery, but to me that seems more like a downgrade (less voltage)

Well I don't plan on taking apart cleaning and putting back together, just gonna use one flavor in one and keep doing so till it goes bad and i have to replace it. According to THIS THREAD they are going to be getting some more in.... just not sure when, hopefully soon though.

So I assume that you're implying that VG clogs up the cartos/clearos faster? so far I've only used prefilled PG cartos.

Since I've been using VG as long as I've been using cartos, I can't tell you from my own experience, but that is what I hear around the intertubes. Another reason I prefer the fluxos, even though visions do have better vapor/flavor, is that they can go a long time (a week or more) without cleaning, while the visions seem to have a significant performance drop off after a couple of days. If I could afford to use the visions as a two-day disposable, I'd go with them.

Fluxomizers are slightly less than a millimeter larger in diameter than an 808 battery... they really don't look that bad at all.

I've used both the 2.4-2.6Ω and the 2.6-2.8Ω versions on 808s, and though I prefer the latter the difference was marginal. On 808 passthroughs, the higher value works better.

I use the 510 version on Ego batteries now, but only because all my 808s are getting too old to work well. I haven't decided which "stick" style to get to replace them, as yet.

Ok, so if the diameter of the fluxo is only ~1mm greater than the the 808, then at any given point around the circumferance it would only stick out ~.5mm. I can live with that, cuz it wouldn't really be noticeable as far as use is concerned.

BTW.. what is an 808 "passthrough"???

A passthrough has a wire that plugs into the USB port on your computer and runs on power from that instead of needing recharging. I use fluxos on an 808 stick and the little bit of size difference really isn't awkward at all. Just a little lip where they're not exactly the same diameter.

Ahhhh. got ya. They had those through the place i bought my starter kit, just called it a "power cig"
