They must have changed this recently because I tried to order something about a week and a half ago, and they asked for DOB and the last 4 of my SSN. I canceled the order and got it somewhere else.
Did you see a manual option or button? I did.

Yes there was, but it was nothing I really needed and wasn't willing to put parts of my SSN or jump through hoops for it.
If you use the manual option you should have the option of sig del if you want to go that route. That's what I did.

I just made a test purchase at eciggity. After entering my shipping and billing address it took me to shipping option. I selected del com, then a pop-up box came up asking for intrusive ID. I selected manual and it took me back to checkout so I could enter CC info. There is a link at the bottom of the home page that says AGE VERIFICATION. Everything is explained there. Hope this helps.

Thanks. Next time I go there I'll take the time instead of just closing the browser window when the pop-up comes out.

Just an aside on Viper Vape. They reportedly use Veratad, but I placed an order a few days ago and it went through fine. Got a follow up email that evening asking for a photo of my ID, OK to black out the DL number an whatnot as long as it had my DOB showing. I've already shopped elsewhere with Veratad, so it doesn't appear that prior verification guarantees future approvals.

That is very strange. I have placed 2 orders with them in the past 2 weeks and mine went through ok and I didn't receive an email asking for anything. Only the normal receipt for the transaction and then the shipping info. Maybe you should tell them they already have the info because of your other order?

Vereatad has 2 process and it sounds like VV uses batch. All orders go through and at the end of the day they check which orders failed then follow up with the email you got. A simple typo could make an order fail or using a nickname instead of real name. Just examples. IDK if once verified you're good for life. I haven't tested that yet.

That's an interesting thought, why have to be verified again once you have already been verified at another site. o_O

Each vendor will be held liable for age verification. They don't know if you're verified elsewhere.

Right. Bluecheck says once verified you don't need to be verified again and I thought I read the same thing about Veratad but I'm not positive. I'll see if I can find it tomorrow.

But if you go to site "A" that uses Vereatad, then go to site "B" or "C" that uses Vereatad, it should be remembered. Or that is what I am thinking.

If Bluecheck can so should Veratad. If a vendor gets audited then the AV service would have records of a contract with that vendor and the verification.

Seems to me... ;)

Each vendor feels under the gun of the FuDa, so signs on to some verification service. This is all new to the vendors, and to some of the services... and us, hence this thread.

So, Vendor A gets your biz, runs you through, you're old enough. Vendor gets some sort of documentation that you are, and, hopefully, puts that info - that you're old enough - into their system, so they don't have to submit you again.

You then go to Vendor B, who happens to use the same service. Maybe you input your State (for mailing) as WA instead of Wa. Maybe some other inconsequential detail (to a human... computers are, still, very literal!) is different. Records then don't match, so follow up is needed.

I get most of my flavorings from ECX. When I check out, their system is always suggesting a different address for my shipment - the same address, but the city in all caps.... where a human would see them as the same, the software obviously sees them as different.

Then again, maybe the services are just trying to pick up a few extra $$...

I think that this could very well be the problem some people are having. If this happens, try your order again with different info say, use Richard instead of Rick, or WA instead of Wa or 1234 Hateallthis St instead of 1234 Hateallthis st etc.... If all else fails, you can always call the vendor and ask what's up or ask for Sig Del.

I've searched my bookmarks, Veratad's user terms, privacy policy and the internet and I can't find where I read this. Here is a link to Veratad's Age Verification page. Age Verification - Veratad Technologies - Identity Verification Solutions It doesn't say much here but if you want to learn more you'll have to do the research yourself. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful but I've spent way too much time reading about these various services and I'm not really interested anymore about each services policy. What I do and what I will continue to do is add something to my cart and checkout after I've checked the site with SSL Labs. If they ask for anything other than DOB then I'll back out or call and ask for delivery signature. I'll also be keeping a list of the vendors that don't ask for intrusive ID. This is very easy to do and takes a lot less time than reading their policy statements. I'll continue to update the list as members post and I hope you all will continue to post your experiences.

In addition please add this to your own list to check(not the ecf list). I always do both because as retired1 says they look at different parts of the sites you are checking. Just yesterday I plugged in a company that was rated a 'b' on ssl labs, but the Sucuri showed it was hacked and had malware on its site. Can't be too careful these days. If I had not checked with Sucuri and just went off the ssl labs, my own connections and my id, etc would have been compromised.
