Do you guys clean your wire? For the first time ever, I noticed some nasty stuff on a spool from Vandy vape. Was wondering what the process is for cleaning the spool. Alcohol wipe? Boiling water? Looks like a dried booger or something lol.
EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
BRO just scratch it off when u cut it to make a coil I guess and then dry burn it I guess
EWWWWWWW FACTORY WORKER BOOOGER EWWWWWWW
Alcohol will be ok I guess but if it's a hardened thingy need to scrap it off
lmfao. I scraped it off with a flathead, and I used a paper towel with water, but I’m still worried it’s not entirely clean. I messaged Vandy vape and I hope they send me another spool lol
Why does this keep happening? 2-4ml of juice turns my coils black and flavorless. This particular juice was from Cloudberry (no artificial sweeteners)
.9ohm 32gauge SS316L at 9 watts with rayon
I am a newbie also....I don't know about your juices but I vape 70vg juice and very sweet and I guess artificial or not....a sweet juice will gunk up your coil fast....I usually rewick every 2days and like 1500puffs more or less with some juices.....recently I started make juices with less flavour inside and 60vg....I get still good flavour for my taste and less gunk.....
But ofc depends the wicking cause if I get it very good then I can work my wattage correct and vaporize better and create less gunk....
How fast this happened???
As I see the pic feels like it's veeeery saturated with juice....didn't u had leaks??
I have to space the coils like that for TC to work. Not sure why. I got good flavor for about 3-4 hours, then a sudden drop in flavor, and I noticed my watts dropped in half (usually an indicator of a dirty coil)

Do you see the Same Drop-Off in Flavor when you are in VW Mode?
If Not, could it be more of a TC Issue than an Coil/e-Liquid issue?
I don't use temp control but just saying....I think doesn't need to be sooooo spaced coil for temp....but even if it is....the thing is that almost half of this coil is out of the airflow hole...I think this atty has a hole airflow doesn't it?
And also yeah try wattage mode like zoidman said to make sure....or maybe need to let it cool down and then reattach the atty or rescan the coil to calibrate the temp control????
Yes same flavor drop. When I use only VW mode I tend to be able to get a full tank or two, so like 8ml of liquid before I have to change my coil, but I feel like that’s still pretty underwhelming. I’m using the same juices (and a couple marketed as low sweetener non coil gunking) that I was in my Novo 2. In there they would last at least 15ml, so I don’t really get it. I did order a DNA mod for my birthday and I’m really hoping that will help me get a better vape, but I’d still like to understand why this is happening.

I can't see from pic very good....but this just seems like leftovers from the burned juice but really it don't seem sooo bad to be able to ruin your flavour....u either have left over gunk from juice or if the cotton is tooooo tight u may heat it too much and make it dark...I haven't seen any other other reason to make my coil or cotton dark....
listen you and me are both new to this and believe me the more we work it we gonna become better at building and have better experience....
getting a DNA mod is good ofc cause all say it's best temp control..... but don't forget in "problems" like these it's just our building that is not good...needs time...
Also don't forget our tastebuds sometimes play games on us....believe me many times I have being played by my taste and the vape was fine...But either way you gonna work it out...just need time
That was rayon so it is a little tight in the coil, but it doesn’t matter if I do super tight or more loose. If it gives me good flavor, and it’s not leaking, I assume I’m wicking it correctly. Either way, it still ends up burning in a ridiculously short amount of time. 28, 30, 32, and my Superfine MTL claptons. I realize that with more and more practice I will probably be able to figure it out - it’s just a lot easier with the help of people who have been doing this awhile.
Try focus on one attomizer and build a pretty evenly spaced coil that will be maybe a little bigger than the airflow hole on the deck...if it's hard with stainless steel then do it with let's say 28ga kanthal that is harder or ni80 or whatever helps you....and practice wicking that and when u get a good vape then u switch to stainless steel and temp control I guess...
I just say ideas ofc no offence I just try to help as much as I can...others know better ofc here![]()
You’re good man lol no offense taken, I know you’re trying to help. I use a coil master jig and all my coils tend to come out pretty evenly spaced and I do keep them mostly over the airflow. You guys have helped me get a good vape, that’s not my problem anymore, it’s the gunking of my coils lol. I don’t really like the way kanthal tastes. I had some wire included in one of the RTA’s I bought and I ended up throwing it away because I didn’t like it. Now I only have SS. Here’s a 32ga 1.7ohm coil. It’s a little too long, and it’s already exhibiting signs of yellowing after 15-20 puffs at 9 watts lol
